Homily for the 33rd Wednesday Ordinary Time

Jesus called people to himself, and he called them to serve. And whether we’re called to serve in the capacity of an evangelist or a priest-teacher, or whether we’re called to a whole variety of forms of service within the body of Christ, we are all called to service. Today, be willing to use your gifts to serve others and put your egos aside by saying "it is a blessing to be a blessing to someone else."

Homily for the 33rd Tuesday in Ordinary Time

To be a follower of Jesus, He asks for 100% complete dedication and no turning back. Oftentimes, however, we still rebel and live in the chaos of the world instead of living in God's purpose. Today, let us let go of our ego and pick up our cross in our own lives so we can fully understand the love that God has for us when we embrace the sufferings of our own life.

Homily for 33rd Monday in Ordinary Time

In an ideal world, every choice is a fine one. Oftentimes, many people gradually drift away from the church because they try a few things that don't meet the needs of where they are. However, staying at the altar means staying close to the love of Jesus, and loving Jesus means coming close to the altar. Today, stay close to the altar, a sacred place, where God's love, truth, grace, and mercy can change a sinner into a saint, sorrow into joy, mourning into dancing, and ashes into beauty. 

Homily for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Oftentimes we hear about “the coming” and “judgment” yet we do not internalize its real meaning. The gospel from Mark 13:24-32 tells us to do so. “Heaven and earth will die, but my words will not. Yet, about that day or hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. ” In these times, it is good to find something in our lives that won’t pass. Let us begin to prepare our souls to one day be joined with the Father in Heaven.

We know not the day nor the hour. Choose to reunite your spirit with the Spirit of the Most High, God. Willingly change your spiritual condition so that you will be prepared for eternity, whether it comes sooner or later in your days.

Homily for the 32nd Thursday in Ordinary Time

Oftentimes we feel like we have to fight our battles alone. However, on the Feast day of St. Martin of Tours, let us be a soldier like him and know that we do not have to fight the enemy alone. God will fight for us. The only thing you need to do is stay still. Being still means being willing to wait. It means we put our agenda aside and allow God to work on His perfect plan. Will it be easy? No. But while we’re waiting we can spend time in His presence learning more about Him.

What is God calling me to? Whatever it is you choose, if it's marriage, priesthood, or a life offered to God through religious vows, all are ways of serving God. Some people also serve God in the single life. We can know what God is calling us to if we learn to listen to him. Today, let our Lady guide you to hear the voice of her Son and give you the courage to respond generously.

St. Paul poses the question, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, whom you have from God?" You are not your own because you were bought with a price...so glorify God in your body. Oftentimes it feels as though we're at war with our flesh but we must let the word of Christ dwell in us richly and roll out the red carpet and give it a grand reception because it will give us an amazing amount of spiritual wealth. Let Him dwell in you today.

Oftentimes in our lives, we influence other people even when we do not realize it. Whether a classmate, parent, or friend, we can affect someone in a positive or negative way. Let us not lead others into sin and temptation but lead them into a community of love for Jesus.

Homily for the 31st Saturday in Ordinary Time

Do you trust God enough to give Him all that you have? Every one of us is in poverty. We are waiting on Earth for something better because this life is nothing compared to an eternity with God the Father. God doesn't need our worship or offerings, he wants our sacrifice because it shows we have chosen Him over our possessions. Learn the lesson of the widow who gave all she had. Have a heart that is willing to sacrifice out of poverty and gain the riches of eternity by not giving God the leftovers, but placing God above all else, and in first place.
