Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed legislation that will ban the manufacture and severely restrict the possession of many semiautomatic firearms, including most semiautomatic rifles and pistols that feature a detachable magazine. The law goes into full effect in August 2026. Burris has been in Colorado for more than 50 years and will be subject to the state's changing landscape and forthcoming restrictions.
