We survived Comic-Con! We're tired, we're broke, and we're getting over the Con Crud, but we'd do it all over in a heartbeat. (Or in one year from now, we oughta be recovered by then.)
Join Anthony, Elizabeth, and Sara from the Villainous Lair as we debrief on Comic-Con 2014, sharing our favorite Con moments, celebrity sightings, panels, and stories about how fun it is to sleep on the ground. (That last one may just be Sara.)
Elizabeth's Note - The audio's still a little quiet this week, I'm working on tricking GarageBand into giving me a little more volume, it's a work in progress, please bear with us.

It's finally here! San Diego Comic-Con 2014 is upon us, and Comic Issues will be there every day: roaming the sales floor, photographing cosplay, interviewing actors and artists and writers, and looking for that perfect print or figurine to buy for our own geek lairs.
Join Anthony, Elizabeth, and Leland from Movie-Issues in our third and final installment of Gearing Up For Comic-Con, as we ask the all important questions: did Han Solo's busted ankle cost us a Star Wars panel; are we going to the Masquerade; which panels are we standing in line for; what's up with Batgirl's new costume; why is the internet talking about a ball pit; and can you or can you not kick people if they're in your way? (No. You can't. Leland, I'm talking to you. Behave.)
Sorry for a few skips in the audio, we had some power outages playing havoc with the recording. Either that or Leland's nemesis J. Scott Campbell was telepathically quashing the audio. You never know.

We're just two weeks away from the San Diego Comic-Con and geeks everywhere are eagerly awaiting this year's nerd festivities. We're so excited that we had to bring on Sara and Cale from the Villainous Lair back onto the podcast to talk about their favorites things about SDCC including cosplay, camping in lines, and of course The Great Hunt. Along the way we hit up the Death of Wolverine, who will be the new Captain America, and why Constantine won't be smoking in his own show.

This week Anthony and Elizabeth had the pleasure to sit down with psychologist, scientist, writer, and GEEK, Dr. Janina "ShadowQuill" Scarlet! Together we get deep into "Superhero Therapy" and how our favorite heroes not only save Gotham and New York, but how they can also save ourselves in our real lives. Dr. ShadowQuill talks to the crew about Self-Confidence and the importance of Self-Compassion, and why it's okay to binge watch our favorite shows (within reason).
Join in as we learn about psychology, taking care of ourselves, and how to help take care of others.
You can read more of Dr. Janina Scarlet's geek-tastic psychological work on her website www.ShadowQuill.com.

If you were going to be part of any superhero team, in any world, which one would it be? The sky's the limit, and while we're dreaming, what would your superpower be?
With Andrew on vacation, Anthony and Elizabeth pick the groups they'd most like to join (and the ones they'd least like to join) and dream about super powers. First, though, they break down the latest cancellations of the New 52, and dream about what DC could do to get things up to All-New Marvel levels of cool.
Original broadcast date May 28, 2014. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2014/05/comic-issues-172-characters-that-gotta-go/
Everyone's got a least a couple characters that they are sick and tired of seeing all over the place. From comics, books, movies, and pop culture in general, the bombardment of some iconic characters can be pretty overwhelming. This week the crew go over some of their most exhausting characters and deciding if they need a 5 year break or a 10 year break; although some are subjective.
On the way there the crew go over the release of the recent Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, the Batman's Bat-Costume & Bat-Mobile, Flash teaser, and stick around to the end to hear Anthony and Elizabeth worry about the next racist Transformer. GEEK ON!
