So this year, we were all present at the Longbeach Comic Expo. Maico and I were helping out at Colleen’s booth for Wyng’d Lyon Creations. While we were there, we saw an amazing amount of Cosplay (link goes to our Longbeach Comic Expo 2015 album on Facebook – no Facebook account is required to view the photos! But if you DO have a Facebook account, please feel free to come by and LIKE our page while you’re there!) The venue for this year’s Longbeach Comic Expo was different than last year’s – same building, however different hall – and was significantly larger than last year. The over all layout seemed very well organized as to how they had things set up. Before going to Longbeach Comic Expo, we had two interviews scheduled – one with Greg Weisman (known for his role in co-creating the animated series, Gargoyles, as well as his work on Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, and now his new novel, Rain of Ghosts) and Joy DeCapua (from Blackjack Comics, who Maico interviewed last year at LongBeach Comic Expo!). Maico being the hard nosed journalist that he is – managed to land an additional 3 interviews for this podcast! So all together, it’s Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, Rain of Ghosts), Joy Decapua (Blackjack Comics), Jason Beckwith (Taking Eden), Ray Chou (Skies of Fire), and Tanya Bjork (Havenhurst)! So strap in for an awesome episode full of some great folks!
So the beginning of the podcast features Maico, Colleen and myself (Tawmis) doing a recap of the Longbeach Comic Expo over Skype – and then it jumps into the interviews!

So… at long last, it finally happened! Neal Adams had done a comic book signing at Southern California Comics quite some time ago. Due to a series of mishaps, this episode kept getting put off (I wanted it for our 12th issue, anyway! Because back in the day – when comics were good – issue #12 was typically double sized in the comic world, because something special was going to happen!) Well, it seemed only fitting, since this is a comic book related podcast, that we would save this for Issue #12 of our podcast!
I won’t go into the “woes and whys” this episode took so long – but let’s just say, it gave me a very difficult time! But it’s done! It’s finally done!
As I said, the episode was recording during a comic book signing; so there is, unfortunately, a lot of background noise with people talking and what not (since it wasn’t a very controlled environment), and every time someone bumps or hits the tables we were using; the mics that were sitting on them would spike a loud noise. And then there was the jets from Mira Mar that would occasionally fly by! But all in all, it was a very fun time, and a great honor to be able to speak to Neal Adams. He has some great (and often times!) hilarious stories that he shared with us, as well as some insight about working in the comic book business, and the various different personalities you deal with (writers, fellow artists, editors, publishers, even assistants who say things they probably should not have said!)

This time, Maico and Tawmis get together and discuss their top – or is it their bottom? – heroes, villains and teams. Sit down and prepare yourself for an hour of complaining back and forth – and a lot of disagreeing on who is lame and who isn’t lame! Folks like Beak, Wolverine, Iron Man, X-Treme, Night Thrasher, Vibe, Longshot, Juggernaut, Skin, Generation X, Penance, Doop, X-Statix, Dazzler, Galactus, Squirrel Girl, Great Lakes Avengers, New Warriors, Angel, Ghost Rider, Justice League, Break Dancing, Martian Manhunter, Vision, Superman, Maggot, The X-Men, X-Factor, Nightcrawler, Cyborg Superman, X-23, Mister Sinister, Cyclops, Kickers, Inc., Starbrand, NFL Superpro, The Undertake, WWE, Thunderbolts, Polkadot Man, Mystqiue, Mastermind, Krakora, Giant Size X-Men #1, Nightcrawler, Purple Man, Calendar Man, Thunderbird, Sunfire, Corsair, Vulcan, Shi’ar, Gladiator, and many, many more! But who makes the team on the greatest losers list? Give it a listen! Agree? Disagree? Have your own list? Think of folks who should be listed? Someone we forgot? Tell us on Facebook Page or tweet to us!

Now, when with the title called “The Problem With Fans” – you’re probably thinking we’re talking about comic book fans, right? No. We’re not. This is something else entirely, that is almost immediately explained. It begged for it to be the title – to remind myself of what happened! Needless to say, this episode was recorded twice – once, not so successfully – then again, successfully! Both times, the recording session was three hours long! (And rest assured, that is a lot of time editing! I have spent two days editing this second take of the podcast, with little to no breaks! My sanity may be gone, but it’s finally done!)
A few things to note about this episode, since it was a second take (and I was, admittedly lazy/busy) – some things are now out of date!
All that said, this episode also has an interview with Joie Brown and the folks at DieGo Publishing.

Comic Relief Podcast #9 is finally out! And while the official title is “Long Beach Comic Expo Coverage” – I think it deserves a special title of “Out With The Old And In With The New!” No, we’re not talking about the New 52 or anything! Rather, it’s because the plan had always been that we were going to do the Long Beach Comic Expo and hang out in Colleen’s booth (who owns and runs Wyng’d Lyon Creations – but, as fate would have it, and illness would strike Tawmis down for nearly two and a half weeks, so that he was unable to attend. Instead, Colleen, who was just going to be a special guest on the podcast, ended up filling Tawmis’ seat and being the co-pilot to the episode! It turned out to be an amazing, fun, episode! We also managed to interview Joy of Black Jack Comics. You can check out their website, Facebook page, as well as their twitter.
So, sit back, and prepare your auditory orifices for the reception of some fresh podcasting! And please, by all means, if you enjoyed it – share this page, tweet this page, do whatever you can to help get the world out! It not only, naturally, helps us – but it also helps the MANY indie comic creators we have interviewed in our podcasts, to help get them some recognition and success as well!

Now when we say the “X” games, we’re not talking about the sporting event. Listen to the podcast – and you will quickly figure out why this episode is called “The X Games.”
So with all that said, you can now listen to the episode here:

There is a ton of outtakes from this episode – however, because the folks of Wayward Raven have a time sensitive Kickstarter, I wanted to get this out. This is why this is merely part one of the gaming discussion. We cut it in half to include the interview with the Wayward Raven folks. So keep an eye out for part 2 of this podcast, that covers the other games.

On May 3rd, 2014 – Jamie, of Southern California Comics sponsored a massive event for Free Comic Book Day! He invited us to be a part of it, when we bumped into him at WonderCon, and I am glad he did. We had an excellent time, and managed to piece together a pretty good podcast! There was some technical issues during the day (laptop overheated due to exposure to the sun – so we had to redo the entire interview with Chad Cavanaugh, who was a great sport, and the BEST person to be sitting next to us! Had the same crazy sense of humor as Maico and Tawmis!) Then for some weird reason, the thing stopped recording during Paul Horn’s interview (so it randomly got cut short, sorry about that Paul!) Despite all of that – there was massive amounts of people, and a great time had by all!
You can go here to see the photos we took.
But that’s not why you’re reading all this? You just want to know where the latest, most awesome, podcast is, right? Well, wait no further!

Well, what a great way to spend a wedding anniversary! What? No, Maico and Tawmis are not married! Sure, there’s way too much bro love there – but they’re not married! Tawmis’ anniversary happened to fall on the same weekend as WonderCon 2014. So what did he do? He grabbed his wife, his partner (in crime, not in life!) Maico – and Maico grabbed his Comic Relief Podcasting Support Kiddo, Alicia – and together, the four of them hit the town! Or, at least WonderCon!
And fresh off the press, after a long day at WonderCon and drive back down to San Diego – Tawmis and Maico deliver a WonderCon report!
Issue #6: The WonderCon Report –

Now, normally we’d break the time line down into segments – but since the entire thing focuses on WonderCon – we’re going to skip the breakdown of the time! (And it’s not your normal sized 45+ minute podcast!) This one’s just under 20 minutes! It’s just a quick run down of some of the things they saw at WonderCon, who they ran into, what they liked or didn’t like! The WonderCon 2014 photos are on the Comic Relief Podcast Facebook Page (toss a LIKE on the page if you haven’t already!). The settings have been changed so you can tag yourself or others, if you recognize folks in the photos.
I can tell you this much though – they did run into J. Jonah Jameson, who runs the Daily Bugle!

As a side note – they also did the Heads Up Super Hero Edition Game.

And don’t forget, our next appearance will be at the Long Beach Comic Expo.

How Do I Earn This Amazing Badge Ribbon?
Well, we want to have fun with this! So we want to make it available several ways!
We have four different tiers! (Doesn’t matter which tier you decide to do! You still get the badge ribbon!)
Option 1: The Super Hero In You. You play the Superhero Edition of Heads Up with us! Not familiar with Heads Up? Take a look one of our videos! Essentially we would hold the iPhone to our heads – and a name appears, you give clues as to who is on there (without saying any part of the name – so for example, if it’s “Superman” you can’t say “Super” or “Man” but you could say “Clark Kent” or “Man of Steel” or “He’s from Krypton!”) The game records the video, and we will compile all the videos and put them on our Youtube Channel! And you get a snazzy badge ribbon!
Option 2: The Hero In You. Don’t want to do the Heads Up game? All right, then strike us your favorite super hero pose (serious, silly, it doesn’t even matter!) We snap a picture and upload it to our Facebook (so you can go in there and tag yourself and tell people how awesome it was getting our badge ribbon!)
Option 3: The Sidekick In You. We will have some random comic trivia. Just answer the question we ask – doesn’t matter if you’re wrong or right.
Option 4: The Innocent Bystander In You. You just walk up and ask us if you can have one!

Well, at long last. It’s just what you wanted to see. Maico and Tawmis taking off their tops.
Well, no. Not their shirts. Sorry to disappoint you ladies. (And I see a few men out there with some broken hearts!)
No, this issue deals with specific top lists, pull lists, and an interview! (We only take our tops off for interviews!)

This was originally slated to be our third episode (first being Marvel, second being movies) – but then we shifted it around to be our 4th issue, so that we could do the Independent issue as Issue #3. So at long last, we finally get around to not only talking about DC Comics, but about The New 52 and what we like, dislike, and what we collect. (For me, that means just about every freaking single title that DC puts out under the New 52! – Tawmis).
Issue #4: The Not So New New 52 –
