  • ComiCentric Issue 102: I ain’t afraid of no Modesto.

ComiCentric Issue 102: I ain’t afraid of no Modesto.

In the torso of the SGV there is a comic shop, nestled between lively liquor and an antiquated library. Overlooking this haven of geekery, a cool old cat called Crux. The so-called unofficial guardian of the shop, on this of all Saturdays. While his friend and proprietor of the comic shop ventured off to Modesto for the cool creator’s comic convention, Crux took it upon himself to keep things in order. I ain’t afraid of no Modesto.

Upon opening the comic shop, Crux embarked on his mission. With graceful leaps and meticulous paw purrrecision, he dusted every corner and arranged the comic books with purrrfection. His whiskers twitched with satisfaction.

But peace be fleeting in the world of a comic shop. Every time Crux settled down for a catnap, the door would open and announce the arrival of new customers. With a howdy and or a hello, Cruz greeted them with a nonchalant flick of his tail, observing their browsing habits with keen interest. Interjecting and asking if they needed help.

Throughout the day, Crux found himself engaged in unexpected conversations. Old customers reminisced; newcomers sought recommendations from the feline aficionado. Whiskers purred contentedly as he shared his knowledge of comic books.

Despite the interruptions, Crux reveled in the companionship of the comic shop. Forging new connections and strengthening old bonds, all while ensuring that the store remained impeccable.

As the day drew to a close and the last customer bid adieu, Crux surveyed the shop with a sense of accomplishment. His friend may have been off on a grand Modesto adventure, but Crux knew that his own day had been just as rewarding. With a satisfied yawn, he locked the door, picked up dinner went home, put away his AK, and settled into his favorite spot. To do his favorite thing; read some comics of course.

  • ComiCentric issue 101: Recenseo X-Men Post Facto

ComiCentric Issue 101: Recenseo X-men Post Facto

There is always a risk in trying to recapture the magic of an old fandom. Sometimes it does not live up to the nostalgic feeling one longs for. Leading to disappointment. Additionally, changes made to the content for modern audiences may not always resonate with everyone.

On the one hand, it can be exciting for older fans who grew up with the original to see it reanimated in the style one is familiar with. Also to see the story once thought finished, continue.

But on the other hand, bringing back shows from the grave can also provide an opportunity to introduce characters and stories to audiences who have not experienced them before. introducing these stories to a new generation can be valuable, especially if the themes and messages are still resonating.

Ultimately, the success of a revival depends on how well it balances honoring the spirit of the original while also bringing something fresh and relevant to the table. It's a delicate balance, and not every revival succeeds in striking it.

It's all about striking a balance between honoring the past and embracing the future.

To each one of our friends who played guests and participated in our playpen. Even those who have shared by word of mouth to the posts on your feeds. To those with the much-needed feedback. so i think I'm ready to apply for syndication.

  • ComiCentric Issue 99: 99 problems and this podcast ain't one
ComiCentric Issue 99: 99 problems and this podcast ain't one.
Inspired by my morbid curiosity, 99 episodes ago I decided to start a podcast from the comfort of the comic shop. Armed with enthusiasm and nothing more. I set forth and I poured my heart into creating engaging content that resonated with our fellow comic-dwellers. However, despite my efforts, I have found myself stuck in a rut, unable to attract a larger audience beyond the normal numbers.
Determined to break free from stagnation, I must embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth. maybe refined the podcast's branding, storytelling, and diversified the content to cater to a wider audience?
Along the way, I will seek feedback from our loyal listeners and perhaps investigate collaboration with other podcasters to cross-promote?
As I persist in the quest for podcastian growth, I have encountered challenges and setbacks, but I remained resilient and adaptable. Leveraging social media platforms, I try to engage with his audience, but haven’t fostered a sense of community.
With each episode, I learned valuable lessons about perseverance, authenticity, and the power of connection. Over time, I hope the podcast to gain momentum, attracting listeners from far and wide (shout out to out 1 German listener). Inspired by making this podcast a success, I will set my sights on even greater aspirations, knowing that the journey hasn’t ended.
And so, it is with unwavering determination and a sense of macabre exploration in my heart, Ill continued to share our stories of the eccentric side of the comic world, one episode… one issue at a time!
    XOXO
