  • Ep 32: The Superman of Earth 2

DC comics have an infinite version of infinite stories. Val Zod is from the New 52's metaverse version of Earth 2, a world that's very different from the one you know. Val took the violent lessons of his father (General Zod) and decided to use his strengths to heal and bring peace instead of destruction. Additionally we talk about another Superman from the Final Crisis event, Calvin Ellis. A hero modelled after Barack Obama.

  • Ep 31: The Ripe Age of Apocalypse

In 1995, the writers of X-Men did something most comics had never done before; they went to another dimension. The event labeled Legion-Quest shows a troubled David Heller going back in time and accidentally killing Charles Xavier. Those events caused an alternate timeline where Apocalypse was able to take over the world without the interference of the X-Men. In this Age, Magneto leads a new, more savage group of X-Men. Thanks to the original 'man out of time' Bishop, the X-Men need to go through a series of extreme measures to fix the timeline and save all of reality. Some good guys are evil, some plots don't make sense, and its the single most 90's thing I ever read.

Writers: Scott Lobdell, Mark Waid, Fabian Nicieza, and Jeph Loeb

Illustrators: Andy Kubert, Tony Daniel, Roger Cruz, and many more.

  • Ep 29: Who Watches The Watcher

Who is, in Odin's words, that "titanic mute baby too dumb to be of use."? Well that is Uatu, a member of the first race who is spending all eternity watching the marvel heroes. Even though he has vowed never to interfere with their lives... he does quite a bit. This episode of the podcast briefly explains who he is, some of the stuff he has done in the comics, and what he will be doing in the new What if...? TV show.

  • Ep 28: No Criminals Were Ever Innocent

Criminal is, well a story about criminals. The ones living in the big city and do all the fucked up things they do to get by. Ed Brubaker shines a light on those individuals in a beautiful and ugly way. This anthology series covers the stories of several families and the generations that get wrapped up in the worst things humans are capable. This episode specifically covers my favorite and probably the most fucked up of all: The Last of the Innocent. A story about how dangerous can nostalgia be to someone who has thrown away their entire life and will do anything to get what they want, no matter who is in the way.

  • Ep 27: Warren Ellis Fell and Hit Rock Bottom

Fell is a story of a detective named Richard Fell, who goes over the bridge to Snowtown, which is hell to many, or home to some. The story has a series of some of the worst crimes you could imagine, the warped minds that commit them, and the sad few that do their best to save the citizens that cant escape.

Recently there are (lets call them) rumors for a sequel to one of Warren Ellis' best works. We talk a little bit about his recent accusations and the current state of the sequel, but mainly talk about the original 8 issues written 15 years ago.

However after gaining cosmic power and, more importantly, love he wants to help a universe full of injustice... by ruling it. Is he the future of Krypton? Clark Kent has to choose if he needs to be the father, for this child, that he never had. • Ep 24: Neil Gaiman's Eternals, Gods and Monsters

The Eternals are like gods, or more appropriately angels. Imagine living on this planet for millions of years. They have seen the creation of life and the horrors of extinction. Some of these "people" want to protect the planet and everyone on it, others want nothing but horror, slavery, and death. Now imagine all of their minds were erased and the chaos that would bring on modern civilization. This is a metaphor filled mystery thriller that begs us all to ask what it means to be a god.
