Getting tired of the stories in this issue, I ask "David Goodtimes" from WBOI's Tossed Jazz Salad to fill in for me.  We discover that he has a very interesting Crypt-keeper voice (that story starts around 21:00).

The second half of The Bruce Lee Story from a very special all-Bruce Lee issue of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu Magazine (1976).  Afterwards I read an article about the beginnings of the merging of the martial arts industry and the stuntwork industry as "kung fu" films began their ascent to mainstream.  That article may or may not be interesting, but Bruce Lee never fails to be.

I take on Bruce Lee!  This is a very rare $80-$150 comic magazine and I don't think it's even been reprinted, so here's a chance to see (hear) some of the content.  I will discuss as much of the content as possible over the next 3-4 episodes.

Taking a break from format to discuss the contents of the Wikipedia entries for the Democratic Leadership Council, New Democrats and Third Way politics. This is one of the most important things to understand about this year's Democratic primaries - why we have a candidate who calls herself progressive but whose words and actions have often leaned the other way, facing extremely strong support for a more progressive alternative. President Bill Clinton chaired the DLC's efforts to move to centrist/right policies and "keep the lower class and other divisive issues out of it" in 1990-91 before beginning his campaign for the country's highest office. The DLC's efforts have made its affiliated candidates friendlier to corporations (bigger fundraising), at the cost of losing progressive stances and action. Totally amateurish but fairly accurate episode, about 45 minutes, please listen or read about it for yourself and share with friends.

Listened to this again myself and the upshot was that Bill chaired the DLC and has embodied it with Hillary, the Democratic Party's president is from the DLC, as is President Obama's Chief of Staff, and Obama himself is a New Democrat. If this was a horror movie and the DLC were the aliens, I guess right about now they would be rubbing their fingers together and saying in a creepy voice, "Yes...yes...it is complete."

We begin our odyssey into comic (or COMIX) history with Zap #1!  TRIGGER WARNING: The "N" word is used in this podcast.  But I assure you that it's in the comic and it's used in the name of racial equality.  Imagine you've read Superman and Spider-Man most of your childhood, then one day in 1967 you run into a strange young man pulling a wagon full of comics in San Francisco.  He says he made them with his brother and they're a lot more interesting than that superhero crap, if you know what I mean.  You hand him some change, and this is what you read...

The end of the WCA 1984 mini-series!  Pretty funny stuff.  I suggest turning off the episode after the Frogger ad near the end, there's nothing of interest beyond that.  Come back in a few days for something completely different!
