Comics Talk Comics episodes

  • Issue 18: Superman's Girl Friend (We Think?) Lois Lane #10.3

The premise is simple: Lois is a woman. It's the late 50's. The comic is written by sitcom writers. What could possible go wrong?

Absolutely nothing. Welcome back to another episode of Comics Talk Comics. Today we go back to the same issue of Lois Lane and watch as Superman goes through another caper.

However, Wrestlemania was also happening last week; so proud WWE Network subscribers Daniel Brown, Matt Moseley, and Sid Kuhn end up discussing predictions for the last half of the episode. Spoiler alert: Our ideas were better, which means none of it actually happened.

  • Issue 17: Marvel Zombies - Dead Days

We're taking a break from all the excitement that is NFL SuperPro for a quick stop in the land of Marvel Zombies. Daniel Brown and Norm de Plume have decided to give a look at Robert Kirkman/Mark Millar's book about the origin story that launched 1000 alternate art covers (seriously, there are a lot of them).

The group ends up on going on a few tangents about character power levels, but we assure you that Comics Talk Comics will never stoop to the level of comparing DBZ Gotenks vs. Superboy Prime because we know Prime would win it under a minute.

Also, Daniel's fanboyism for both Iceman and Powerade products are finally revealed. It isn't pretty.

  • Issue 16: NFL SuperPro #9 and #10

NFL SuperPro continues to impress the group. We enjoyed the second issue so much that we managed to stay on topic and not run off into too many strange tangents. Though, truth be told, Daniel Brown has to get an argument in that Scar, of Lion King fame, was Disney's first gay villain. "Dude likes dude lions."

He's joined by Norm de Plume and Matt Moseley in another outing. This also marks the first time that all members of the podcast reveal on of the most intimiate details any man could: Their favorite sauce to put on food.

We're only 2 episodes from ending our favorite bad comic book ever, so if you're joining us for the first time then kick up, live, laugh, love, and (most importantly) drink!

  • Issue 15: NFL SuperPro #8

Welcome back to another issue of NFL SuperPro, folks! Comics Talk Comics is about to go into swag overload because the next 3 issues will be about the final days of NFL SuperPro.

After three long podcasts about The Death of Superman it is a refreshing change to see bad comic books done right. We ask the hard questions so you don't have to: Why doesn't Phil Greyfield (AKA SuperPro) play in the NFL? Why would you make a trench coat out of pure silk? Is Marco Sanzionare the greatest 616 villain of all time? What is the appropriate amount of money to put on a Dave and Busters card when visiting a city?

For those who have no interest in listening to the podcast, but enjoy reading descriptions: He's a mutant, they are idiots, yes, and about $20 (if you plan on hanging for an hour or so).

  • Issue 14: The Death of Superman 3(of 3)

We've been on a bit of a hiatus, but we are back with the final episode of our Magnum opus: The Death of Superman.

Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley go deep into the mythos of DC's flagship character. Before listening to this episode we recommend checking out Issue 12 and 13 first, so as to give context to our dislike of the entire arc.

Though this particular episode is about The Death of Superman it is worth noting that a spiritual battle takes place throughout between Daniel Brown and Matt Moseley on whether or not Million Dollar Baby is a good movie (it is).

  • Issue 13: The Death of Superman 2(of 3)

Welcome back to our 2nd part of our journey as we march to the final days of Superman. Yes, he dies, but it's not about the destination (which was made to sell issues): It's about the journey (which shouldn't have sold issues).

Since we are finished with the JLA issue it's all downhil from here. This week a variety of topics come up, such as:

    • Aquaman's role in the JLA
    • How superior NFL Super Pro is to this comic
    • Daniel Brown explains how the producer credit is going to his head and making him turn into Kayne West
    • Booster Gold's resilience to Mortal-Kombat-level fatalities
    • Join Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, and Special Guest Matt Moseley as we talk about the things we enjoy about The Death of Superman...and the other 90% of the comic.

    • Issue 12: The Death of Superman 1(of 3)

Finally, Comics Talk Comics has come back to where we began. If you've been following us since the first release you know that we sometimes speak of a lost episode. One whose audio was destroyed by background noise and the fact that all the people on it got too drunk to make coherent arguments.

No more! We are making one more go of the original comic book that brought us (and this podcast) together: The Death of Superman. Norm de Plume and Daniel Brown were discussing comic books one day and TSoS came up; we do our best to recreate that discussion, which basically amounts to "No sir. We don't like it."

Joining us is Special Guest Matt Moseley, who also shares simliar feelings. The cold opening of the episode about the pitch meeting was created on the spot by him, but we at Comics Talk Comics are about 75% that's how it went down.

Come listen to us talk about the beloved comic book that is so bad that we felt a podcast was neccesary to share with the entire world.

    • Issue 11: Superman's Girl Friend (Maybe?) Lois Lane #10.1

Happy New Year loyal listeners! We at Comics Talk Comics decided to start the new year off with the right way: By going back in time to 1959.

      Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane is a comic book series that was created by 1950's, fighting-the-Russians, bringing-to-work-a-metal-lunch-box, belt-your-kids, don't-let-those-people-move-into-the-neighborhood, drink-whiskey-at-work, drive-a-car-made-out-of-steel, men.

Oh, and the series is about a woman.

Daniel Brown, special guest Sid Kuhn, and Special Guest Matt Moseley discuss just what this comic is about (we don't agree with it), who is it for (we don't know), and how insane this would be if it were printed today (quite).

Also, due to getting very sidetracked during our first break we end up doing only the first portion of the comic book. Stick around after the "bow...bow-wow-wow-wow-wow-woooooow" at the end credits to hear us all weigh in on our WWE Royal Rumble 2015 picks. Apologies to non-wrestling fans, but Norm de Plume wasn't here this week to reign in our idiocy.

You can reach us in a lot of ways now, but the following are the most common:

We're always looking for ideas for new comics (good and bad) to check out.

    • Issue 10: Movie Spectacular Extravaganza Electric Boogaloo

Join us on this episode of Comics Talk Comics as Daniel Brown and Norm de Plume discuss their favorite and least-liked super hero films. We go deep as we try to figure out what makes a film either good or unwatchable. It's worth noting that Son of Mask does indeed get brought up and we give it the credit that it deserves.

Knowing that this is a list of our favorites we know people are going to find issue with some of our choices. For those of you who want to write in "You got it wrong! The best comic book movie is Monkeybone, and blah blah blah" I want to point out 3 things:

      1. I love Brendan Fraser, but you're wrong

      5. Issue 09: WWE Superstars #3-4

This week we once again dive into the world of Titan City. Daniel Brown, Norm de Plume, Special Guest Matt Moseley, and special guest Sid Kuhn discuss the..."plot." The group also discusses several other things, which include:

        • Attempting to sell Norm de Plume on the entertainment value wrestling. It goes as expected.
        • How to perform a RKO. Also, RKO Vines.
        • Matt and Daniel try not to talk about WWE Supercards. They fail.
        • Stay for the post-credits sequence to hear us weigh in on Rocky movies. Put the pitchforks away: Rocky 5 is agreed upon as unwatchable.
        • Finally, there is a Shawn Stasiak joke in the show. Nobody is going to get it, but we assure you: It's solid.
