Commander ad Populum

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week, we continue our journey that focuses on fitness and wellness. I'm joined, once again, by Dave Kosin. We delve into how to get started. What are the best first steps to take towards a better, healthier you? And, of course, we've got a good dose of MtG and Commander inspired examples mixed in!

You can find Dave on Twitter here: @daviekumd. If you're interested in Dave's services, make sure to touch base on Twitter. Chances are, you'll be happy you did!

If you'd like to give me your thoughts on today's topics, hit me up on Twitter @CadPopCast. You can find me on Facebook, here: Facebook.com/CadPopCast. Both the Twitter and Facebook feeds have threads for each episode of Commander ad Populum. Let me know what you think.

If you'd like to support Commander ad Populum or my altered art Magic card business, you can pledge on Patreon, here: Patreon.com/CadPopCast. There are a bunch of great benefits associated with being a patron. Especially if you're into altered art cards!

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week, we kick off a mini-arc that focuses on wellness. Particularly, how we can extrapolate gaming experiences into the real world, and vise versa, of course.

Today, I'm joined by a new guest who I hit it off with immediately, Dave Kosin. In the first of this two-parter, we hear Dave's weightless, how he turned his life trajectory around and his thoughts on breaking the mold. Dave's use of gaming examples and high school stereotypes are not to be missed this week!

You can find Dave on Twitter here: @daviekumd. If you're interested in Dave's services, make sure to touch base on Twitter. Chances are, you'll be happy you did!

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community and technical sections are a combined one. I discuss building a reputation. Do what you say you're going to do. Have the back up that people expect you to have. In Magic, that means being articulate and forthcoming enough to make sure everyone has a good play experience. In the real world, that means doing your due diligence to the degree required to build a trustworthy relationship in a professional setting.

In today's set retrospective, we take a look back over some of the white-bordered highlights throughout Magic's history. We've touched on Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Revised and Chronicles. Today, we hit up alternate art white borders and Salvat 2005.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community topic is a short one. I hint at some upcoming lifestyle and gamer related fitness episodes. Get your questions in on what you'd like to hear about that. Work/life/gaming balance will be the first topic.

This week's Technical section focuses in on Coldsnap abilities Recover and Ripple. Between the two of them, I've seen exactly one card be played, ever.

In today's set retrospective, we go deep on Coldsnap! As the long-overdue final set in the Ice Age Block, Coldsnap was nostalgic with many throwbacks to old places, charters and abilities.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community topic is a two-parter. The first part; The Megabowl! A collaboration of several online content creators. It features Into the 99, Elderdragon Skypelander, Cardboard Command and The Canada Geeks. Their respective communities have selected legendary creatures for them to build decks around and they are going to jam on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2pm EST. Find the stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/thecanadageeks. Listen in for all the details and my thoughts on how fun/important these types of things are.

The second part of today's Community section focuses on some of my favorite content creators in the Magic community. I also take time to make sure that we are all going out of our way to find and include new content creators. A diverse lineup is important for formulating sound opinions on the game. Make sure to find the CadPopCast Community Highlights for this episode on Twitter where I tag them all.

No Technical section or Set Retrospectives this week. I wanted to focus on spreading some love for other creators. I also wanted to focus on how fun Magic events are. Hopefully, this reminds people to do their part in staying healthy and being safe so we can get back to normal, as quickly as possible.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community topic is that of net decks and why they shouldn't hold the negative stigma that they do.

The Technical Section today looks at the abilities Forecast, Hellbent and Graft. They all have some subtle nuance to them and all have been important in Magic's history.

The Set Retrospective this week finishes off our look at the original Ravnica Block from 2006. We close things out with Dissension! With several awesome legendary creatures and a slough of cards for the Commander format, Dissension is a true classic.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

Today, I give my thoughts on the importance of listening to the trusted sources of knowledge and inspiration in your community. I was recently inspired to take a couple days off and I'm glad I did. It makes me appreciate the things in the Magic community that I enjoyed finding in the first place.

The Technical Section today looks at Bloodthirst, Haunt and Replicate. Not the most powerful suite of abilities, but all have their place.

The Set Retrospective this week returns to the plane of Ravnica. We're looking at Guildpact. There were a bunch of cards that made a nice impact on the format. And, some that really slapped!
