Morake was slammed for an analogy that angered some of the station's white listeners. According to reports, the company says it does not want to be associated with a station that "gets involved with politics and mix it with business". Stephen Grootes says that there is still what he describes as economic apartheid.

Last week, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa told the National Assembly that he would come clean after the Sunday Independent published details around his alleged extramarital affairs.Answering questions in the National Council of Provinces on Wednesday afternoon, Ramphosa backed out from addressing the matter. He said he’s been advised by a number of leaders within the African National Congress (ANC), against making any further statement on the allegations around his personal life. Breakfast show host Stephen Grootes raises questions over whether Ramaphosa is any different from the people he claims to be campaigning against.

A report in the Citizen on Tuesday says Sanral may be nearing the end with e-tolls and has admitted to a loss in revenue, with only a third of the money owed being paid by motorists. With motorists refusing to tow the line, Sanral spokesperson Vusi Mona emphasisied the need for a funding model. Commenting on Mona's statement Stephen Grootes says Sanral may be throwing in the towel.

Stephen Grootes questioned South African politics as well as business and government's motives amid claims of state capture. He highlighted the issue of reputations amongst corporate, government and corruption and what this reflect for the people involved in them. Grootes says one should not think corporates are acting out of the goodness of their hearts.

National Book Week kicked off on 4th of September with the aim to promote reading as a critical part of South African development. The reading campaign has been driven by the South African Book Development Council (SABDC) in partnership with the Department Of Arts and Culture. According to the SABDC only 14% of the population are committed readers. This number has not changed over the decade.
