  • Overcoming a Dysfunctional Family
This Sunday I will begin a new sermon series entitled, “Overcoming” about a man who overcame many adversities. He was a brother sold into slavery by his family. He was a slave who faced trials and temptation around every corner. He was a prisoner innocent of all crime. He was a wise man, full of integrity, who was elevated to a position of great influence among his enemies to save the world. He was a man who overcame many trials, temptations and tribulation, yet always remained faithful to God. His name was Joseph.

  • Lead Me Lord
This Sunday morning I will conclude our series on Perilous Praying with another prayer from Psalm 139:24, “Lead me.” We pray that prayer many times but what if God answered it and led you to a new job, a new state, a new country, or a new profession? It is a perilous prayer, but one we must pray.

  • Search Me Lord
This Sunday morning the next “Perilous Prayer” we will examine is one that doesn’t appear to be perilous at all. It is a simple request, “Search me O God,” and yet the moment we pray it, the Lord will reveal many things about us we may not want to know.

  • Speak Lord I am Listening
We all know there is power in praying, but many times we become sloppy and lazy in our praying and will say words we do not mean. What would happen, if God answered our prayers as we prayed them? Some of the short prayers we utter would become powder kegs in our lives. In this series we will examine some biblical prayers, when prayed, can alter our lives forever. Now, we should pray them, but we need to be aware of the coincidences when we do.

  • Praying in a Crisis
This Sunday morning, we will conclude our sermon series “Going through a Crisis,” as we examine one of the most important things to do in a crisis—praying.  I know all of us have been in constant prayer during these weeks and we need to continue, but how should we pray and for what?  Because if we are not careful our prayers will simply be selfish in nature, or just routine. How can we pray effectively? James answers that in James chapter 5.

  • Wisdom in a Crisis
We will examine one of the most important things to possess in a crisis—wisdom. In a crisis the temptation will always be we can handle the problem ourselves and we do not need any help. Then we devise a plan to get through the crisis, but we forget the most important part of the plan and we fail. Possessing wisdom will make sure we do not forget the important piece in planning. This Sunday we will look at how wisdom helps us to think through a crisis.

  • Facing the Crisis
Throughout the Bible you find His people going through crisis after crisis. Why? Well sometimes it is because of their own sins, sometimes it is to teach them a lesson, and sometimes it is because we live in a fallen sinful world where problems occur. God reminds us we can be in the center of God’s will, and still be in a storm. But the good news is whenever God’s people cried out to God, He was with them and helping them. Because He is our help in our problems, we need to stop  focusing on our problems, and start focusing on God’s promises.
