Episode 104 - HOW TO SHIFT YOUR MINDSET FOR SUCCESS - Transformative Mindset (w/ Emmet Naughton)
    ********

"You have to be aware of what it is that you need to change." - Emmet Naughton

    Hey guys!

On this video, I talk to motivational speaker and Positive Progression founder Emmet Naughton to talk about the importance of having a Transformative Mindset. Tune in as Emmet shares his personal experiences as a speaker, and how he moved to London from a small town in Ireland. He learned that people need to become aware of the negative thoughts that cross their minds, and rewrite them to replace them with a more positive syntax.

A Transformative Mindset allows you to be more adaptive to the challenges you face. They it isn't a process of change, but more of a permanent state. To always be aware of what holds you down means that you'll be able to constantly change yourself to get rid of those hurdles. When you finally remove all of the "Mental Gremlins" trying to poison your mind, you'll find that transforming into the person you want to be becomes much easier.

Emmet Naughton is an entrepreneur, author, investment professional and motivatonal speaker who zeroes in on personal development. It all started when Emmet picked up a book on mindset called "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Vincent Norman Peale, and eventually had him completely HOOKED on working on his own growth to break free from his mental barriers and finally reach his full potential.

Currently the co-founder of Positive Progression, it's his passion to help others reach their full potential by guiding them and giving them key insights on how they can break through and shift towards a more successful mindset. Featured on The Telegraph and Medium, Positive Progression offers 1-on-1 coaching on both mindset and communication, equipping you with what you need to become the best version of yourself.

Episode 103 - Develop Learning Habits - BECOME A LEARNING BEAST! (w/ Tom Pullen)
    *******
    Hey guys!

On this episode, I invited Innovinco CEO Tom Pullen to talk about the many ways we can develop learning habits and how we can turn ourselves into LEARNING BEASTS! Tune in as he mentions his 3 key tips to grow as a learner, and talk about what exactly 3D learning is. With loads of other topics to cover, this episode also has a LOT of books mentioned, and these books could definitely help you out on your journey as both a learner and an entrepreneur.

Before becoming the CEO of his own company, Tom Pullen worked in the corporate industry as a leader in the companies he became part of. Starting out as a manager, Tom grew his career for the next 20 years from managerial positions to becoming the director of various departments in Danone, Mars, and Boots UK. Tom finally started his own company 4 years ago, named Innovinco.

A generation innovation agency, Innovinco was founded to tackle crucial pain points that big companies could be suffering from regarding innovation. They focus on designing significant 100% customer centric solutions. There's also a YouTube channel which Tom hosts himself, detailing various subjects on innovation, and providing other key tips to help grow the way people can innovate.

Tom believes that being able to visualize yourself as the version of you that you want to become can help speed up your learning process, noting that vision comes hand in hand with ambition. Without the desire to grow, you won't have enough willingness to create a vision of who you want to be. If you know where you want to get to, you'll know the steps to take in order to learn and get there.

Episode 102 - Breaking Out of Your Old Self (w/ Mike Forrester)
    *******

    Hey guys!

On this episode, I sat down with Men's Transformation Coach and entrepreneur Mike Forrester to talk about "afformations," and how using them can help you break out of your old habits to improve your own life. Mike did the exact same thing, and he's happy to say that it's helped him through his toughest times. Tune in as we delve further into key values that could help you grow out of your old self!

A lot of hidden toxicity could come from within us, and often times it's floating in our subconscious, usually somewhere we can't really see if we don't give it enough attention. It could be caused by past traumas, or something that used to have a consistent negative impact on ourselves. People sometimes pick up all of the negativity and carry it over as parts of their own behavior, and it often reflects on their mindset and growth.

Mike believes that the only way that a person can truly change is when they're able to tap inside of themselves and consciously drive out the voices that hinder their progress. They have to tell themselves to actively break free and do something different from the old, unproductive routines that they've gotten used to. We need to learn accept and acknowledge our bad habits, and pro-actively remind ourselves to make changes for the better.

With childhood traumas and a toxic household, Mike's past was full of motivational hurdles that played a part in tearing his mindset down. From cold showers to locked fridge doors, he had to live through a family crisis that nearly spelled out failure. But after looking within himself, seeking coaches who could help him, and breaking out of his bad habits, he was able to set himself free from mental discord and become the inspiring coach that he is today.

    Enjoy!

Episode 101 - Become The Bruce Lee of Your Life! (w/ Chris Ducker)
    *******

"Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do." - Bruce Lee

    Hey there!

It's a new chapter for The Commit First Podcast, and to pop off the 101st episode, I invited entrepreneur, business coach, author and father Chris Ducker to talk about his journey as an aspiring dad-entrepreneur. He'll also talk about his various struggles earlier in the decade, and all of the important key values he picked up along the way. From starting his VA company based in the Philippines in 2004, to overcoming an extreme burnout that left him dehydrated, depressed, and malnourished to the point of hospitalisation, Chris smashed through these obstacles like a true warrior.

Currently the owner of three 7-figure businesses, Chris is definitely a gem in the coaching industry. It all started in 2009, when Chris had to go through a delicate spinal surgery because of a busted L5-S1 disc. Chris was working non-stop for 2 years, and after putting on the hats of what should have been for 8 different employees, Chris's body took a toll on him. This served as a rough wake-up call for him, bringing with it acute exhaustion and dehydration. The moment he walked out of the hospital doors, he knew it was time for a change. Getting a grip on his lifestyle, Chris made sure to straighten things out for both his personal and professional life.

He learned the importance of delegation, realising that building your own team will help turn your life around and grow your business. With that in mind, Chris built up what would now be his three 7-figure companies, namely Live2Sell, Virtual Staff Finder, and Youpreneur. Live2Sell and Virtual Staff Finder are rooted at the heart of the Philippines's major BPO industry. The former helps generate outbound leads as a B2B company, while the latter helps brands and companies in recruiting quality employees to help them grow. Youpreneur is a little different, being Chris's newest endeavour founded in 2015.

Youpreneur helps educate and guide experienced professionals on how to lead their businesses to spearhead the industry, landing at the top of the list in their own game. It helps brands grow through the use of coaching programs, coaches, an annual conference, and its very own podcast. Now with over 7,000,000 downloads, the podcast grew to help thousands of entrepreneurs across the globe, which is still a growing number to this day.

    Hope you enjoy the interview!

    Episode 100 - A MAJOR UPDATE!
    *******

    Hey everyone!

You're probably wondering why two weeks have gone by before this episode came out. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, because I knew in my heart that cooking this episode up needed a lot of clarity and thought. It had a lot of questions that needed to be answered. And it wasn't just a "lone wolf" kind of thing, it needed more than just one mind to get to the bottom of.

So I called my mentors, my coaches, and even consulted the personal brand guru- Chris Ducker- to help enlighten me on how I can take this to the next level.

These last 3 years have been one wild ride for the show, and after going through many shifts and changes, it has finally reached its 100th episode! A lot has happened, but that doesn't mean that there's nothing left of what's to come. This episode will be a little different, featuring a quick throwback on what I personally went through as an aspiring dad entrepreneur, and how I experienced the most surreal turns of events in my journey.

Finally, I'll be making a big announcement at the end of this episode. The tides are shifting, and it's time for things to take a huge turn. Stay tuned!

Here is a sneak peek snippet from the many topics I'll be covering on this episode!

Things were already going great for me, as a designer. We were taking in projects left and right, I was taken in by Fiverr- not the marketplace, but the company itself- to work on its web design. Shortly after, I was invited alongside my partner to join an accelerator in Silicon Valley to become the first designer of a company called Similar Web. I started a design podcast and newsletter called Hacking UI, where I interviewed all sorts of creative leaders from big names like Facebook, Air BNB, Uber, Adobe, and many other amazing companies.

But there was something that was missing. Something that I ultimately wanted to achieve. I wanted freedom. I wanted to be able to build my own life and take control of it in my own way. I wanted to become the CEO of my life. Hacking UI earned well, finally generating enough money for me to create a new startup. With the birth of my new endeavours, I left Similar Web and let go of such a high paying job, and a great position in a company. It was a financial leap of faith, and I took it.

But it was all worth it, and on this episode, I'll tell you why. Hope you enjoy!

Episode 99 - The Power of Having a Vision (w/ Gloria & Horiany)
    *******

Here we finally are, down to the 99th episode! It has been an absolutely amazing 100 episodes, and before we make our way to the anticipated 100th podcast, I'd like to first recall episode 46, featuring Gloria and Horiany!

"You need to keep going, even if things start to go wrong." - Gloria & Horiany

You've probably already heard of the phrase "If there's a will, there's a way." This can't be any truer in the subject of having a clear, specific vision of yourself and your future. If you're able to maintain a clear view of your goals and dreams, you'll eventually project it into your very own reality. This- as we already know- isn't a walk in the park. You'll face many challenges and hurdles to scale, and your grit will be tested. One thing is true for all cases, however: As long as there is perseverance, you will prevail.

Throughout different careers and different timelines, we've had great examples of successful people who were able to envision themselves, and make that vision come true. Many of you who regularly watch my podcast would definitely be familiar with Jim Carrey, and the nights he spent driving in Los Angeles and envisioning all sorts of movie directors fiddling on their phones to star him in their next blockbuster. Another good example is Demi Lovato! On a tweet back in 2010, she told herself that she'd be singing at a super bowl one day. And there she was, a decade later in 2020, singing exactly where she told herself she'd sing!

But not all heroes wear capes, and not all success stories have to be shining under the light of fame. On this episode, I invited entrepreneurs Gloria & Horiany to talk about the struggles they went through in Venezuela, fighting tooth and nail against all kinds of challenges. They explain how their success was worth all of the lightless nights they worked through without a single flicker of electricity. As long as they maintained the vision in their minds, they were dedicated to seeing their business's growth through.

Now a dynamic duo with a skyrocketing business in Aruba, Gloria and Horiany overcame the ocean of seemingly impossible problems that tided their way. Mas Temporada Alta, their video marketing agency, now runs at full capacity to help many companies market their brand through online promotions and video advertisements. Having an international reach, they're able to provide their services across Aruba, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, The Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and the US.

Tune in as we talk about the very minute details, going through all twists, turns, and learns of their journey from near-defeat to absolute success on this old but gold episode of The Commit First Podcast!

Episode 98 - How to Take Action on Your Dreams (w/ Scott Voelker)
    *******

The 100th episode is on the horizon, and to celebrate it, we'll be featuring 3 iconic episodes from the show's past releases! A second re-release down, here's episode no. 59 with Scott Voelker.

"I am all about taking the risk."

We all carry a certain vision in our minds that we want to turn into reality. This vision is often fueled by passion, and we could have had this passion for most of our lives. Perhaps it's a passion you found early on in your younger days, or perhaps it's something new that you've just found love for. Regardless of whether it's old or new, dreams are the vision people have for themselves, a goal that they want to work towards for the rest of their lives.

It's a great thing to have the perfect visualization of yourself in your mind, and to know where you want to be. But do you know how to get yourself from here to there? A dream- as powerful of a fuse it is in igniting the explosion we call success- is just like potential energy. Sure, it's got the kick to take you places, but it won't go anywhere without the right starter. It won't take you anywhere if you don't take action. How do you take action, exactly?

Taking action on your dreams is like making a leap of faith into the uncertainty that the future holds. Comfort zones are often within your space, and you need to get out of THAT space. You have to get to where you want to go, and where you want to go isn't where you are right now. As you watch this episode, you'll realize that taking action is taking risks. When you want to act on your dreams, you'll eventually have to make a gamble and expose yourself to a little risk, with the better chance of growth.

On this release, we'll be recalling the topics I covered with Scott Voelker about how we can take the right set of actions and turn our dreams into reality. Tune in as we cover a portion of his book, the "Take Action Effect," which talks about the elaborate plan he devised to help himself and other entrepreneurs find success. Scott emphasizes the importance of mindset and how taking out "Mental trash"- which hinders you from finally working on your goals- is very important. Have you stopped making excuses, and finally started working on goals that you only used to talk about WANTING to work on?

Now a father of 3 kids and a loving husband to his wife for the past 25 years and counting, Scott Voelker decided one day that he didn't want to keep swinging hammers for the rest of his life. Right after graduating high school, Scott was pushed into the life of a construction worker. He changed his mind somewhere down the line, and finally decided to take the reins. He steered himself towards the direction of success, building his own company known as "The Brand Creators."

With The Brand Creators, Scott has helped thousands of people unlock their true potential by helping then TAKE ACTION. With his guidance, many entrepreneurs have found success he calls their "ultimate freedom business." Scott has proven to be a great brand builder through his work, developing the skills of his clients to turn them into confident, resilient, and future proof entrepreneurs.

Episode 97 - The 4 Types of Mindsets (w/ Ryan Gottfredson)
    *******

The 100th episode is on the horizon, and to celebrate it, we'll be featuring 3 iconic episodes from the show's past releases! To start the countdown off, here's the re-release of episode no. 51 with Ryan Gottfredson.

"We think that the way we think is the right way to think." - Ryan Gottfredson

Was there ever a time when you were so sure that the way you did something was the best way to go about it, until someone came along and showed you an even better alternative? To top it off, were you easy to accept and learn this method, or did you stick to your old ways despite the new information that could have helped you speed up the process? Once we delve into the topic of mindsets, we'll find that the way we view our world shapes how we think about it. There's another level deeper than the way we think that we can change: The way we see.

For this week's show, we'll go back to the time I invited Mindset Coach and author Ryan Gottfredson to talk about the different types of mindsets and explain how the way we perceive life fundamentally controls how we think about or react to it. Ryan explains that these mindsets generally dictate the way a person treats a situation, or new information that comes into their view. Once we are aware of how we see things, we can tweak our viewpoint in order to make it work to our advantage.

A good example mentioned on this throwback episode is the difference between the prevention mindset and the promotion mindset. The prevention mindset focuses more on containing the possibility of risk and making sure that any potential danger is avoided. As long as things go smoothly, everything should be fine. The promotion mindset, on the other hand, aims towards taking chances or risks to be able to push closer to their goals. People with this kind of mindset "play to win" and dislike missing opportunities or staying still even with the promise of security from failure.

If you had the prevention mindset as the captain of a ship, you'd prioritize making sure that it doesn't sink even if it meant that your journey through the sea would take longer. Meanwhile, a captain who possesses the promotion mindset would take risks sailing into short cuts, even if it meant sailing through rough waters and thunderstorms. Throughout this episode, we discuss these topics and many more helpful mindset-changing tips.

Now a mindset author and mental success coach who successfully published his signature book "Success Mindsets," Ryan Gottfredson works on helping various organizations significantly improve the mindsets of their leaders, members, and teams. A Ph.D. holder in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from Indiana University with a B.A. from Brigham Young University, Ryan currently prospers as a leadership and management professor at the College of Business and Economics at California State University-Fullerton.
