Our eyes! OUR EYES!! Oops....wrong movie! Will, Mike, and Sam take a look at their first Nicholas Cage film with the 2011 medieval supernatural film Season of the Witch. Starring the previously mentioned Cage along with Ron Perlman and Claire Foy in her first role, this film tackles a very different take on witch trails during the Crusades with mixed results with a rushed script and a few plot holes that makes this one a forgettable watch. Despite some decent acting (and good humor at times) from Cage and Perlman, it is not enough to save this losing season. So, join the Commit One crew as they break down this film that should have much more potential, but is instead just stuck behind a cage.

When the daughter of Hulk Hogan actually does one of the best acting performances in a film, you know something is wrong! Will, Mike, and Sam dive back into the world of creature features and lament missing the boat on covering this film during Shark Week with the 2012 direct-to-video film Sand Sharks. Starring Corin Nemec (whom Stargate fans know better as Jonas Quinn), the previously mentioned Brooke Hogan, and a whole cast of people barely anyone has heard of, this film lives up to the "quality" of creature features covered by this podcast with horrible acting, even worse CGI, and a script so head-scratching that it is hard to understand how the sharks got into the sand in the first place or if this film is a stand-alone or a sequel to something. So kick back, relax, and stay off the beach as the Commit One crew sink their teeth into this shipwreck of a film.

This is one fantasy we wish we could all forget. Will, Mike, and Sam look at what happens when studios attempt to take a popular former series and try to turn it into a horror movie with few good results in the 2020 film Fantasy Island. Starring Maggie Q, Lucy Hale, and Michael Pena as the mysterious Mr. Roarke, the most recent film covered on the podcast explores a film with a questionable script and even more questionable characters that not even a minor role from Michael Rooker could save it. Even with a few twists that could have been promising, the Commit One crew wishes they had a plane so they can escape from this film. 

What happens when you do a sequel that the original's writer does not want to do, the star it is built around throws the script in the trash and does not return, and tries to to make it "family friendly" compared to the R-rated original and fails on all counts? You get the 1988 film Caddyshack 2! Will, Mike, and Sam hit the course to look at this ill-advised sequel where the one returning star (Chevy Chase) expressed his regret before the film was even released and a plot that is so all over the place the sub-plot is completely lost. Despite the best efforts of the main actor (Jackie Mason), it is not enough to save this film from committing a double-bogey.

The studio executives just thought they had a slam dunk with this....well at least with kids. Will, Mike, and Sam kick off (or in this case tipoff) the second year of the Commit One Movie Podcast by looking at a beloved childhood film, but the flaws stand out more to adults in the 1996 live action/animated film Space Jam. Starring NBA legend Michael Jordan along with the Looney Tunes characters, the film features some....interesting...acting from athletes (but what else would you expect?) and questionable characterization from the Looney Tunes themselves (Bugs Bunny needing help.....seriously???), it is still a fun time to be had with some good basketball moments and a few good laughs. And with the sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy, coming out next week, it seemed like the perfect time for the Commit One crew to make an easy layup with this wave of nostalgia.

If bad movies are at the bottom of the barrel, this one is actually BENEATH the barrel altogether!! Will, Mike, and Sam close out the first year of the Commit One Movie Podcast with one of the worst, if not THE worst, movies ever put to film in the 1966 abomination that is Manos: The Hands of Fate. Written, produced, directed, and starring a man that was actually an insurance salesman (later a fertilizer salesman with the irony not lost on the Commit One crew) with no film experience and actually completed this.....thing......on a bet proves what NOT to do when making a competent film. Terrible editing, terrible acting, random scenes, and the flat-out need to dub all of the actors and have questionable music makes this pure 68 minutes of torture. Despite wanting to wipe this from their memories, the Commit One crew is here to break down this piece of cinematic crap.

In this space, no one can hear you snore. Will, Mike, and Sam take on a film that at it's core is nothing more than an Alien ripoff with the 1991 direct-to-video film Dead Space. Starring Marc Singer of Beastmaster and V miniseries fame as well as then-relatively new actor Bryan Cranston, this film is a very short sci-fi film with uneven pacing, questionable acting, and a Swiss-chesse like plot that makes one wonder why they even bothered. Even though the practical effects are decent, they are not enough to save this forgettable film. However, the Commit One crew is here to launch themselves into this final frontier of bad space movies.

You KNEW that they were going to get to this one at some point so better late than never! Will, Mike, and Sam jump back to The Asylum by looking at the first film of the company's biggest unintentional franchise with the 2013 television film Sharknado. The reputation of the film speaks for itself and holds up to The Asylum's "high" standards with terrible acting, a ridiculous plot and leaps of logic, horrible CGI, and very questionable editing choices. With the craziest part being that this first film is actually played somewhat serious, there is no escaping the ridiculousness as we see the first film in the Fin Shepard saga (a role that star Ian Ziering literally did for the insurance), let's just hope the Commit One crew's minds can survive the work of Thunder Levin and the eventual lightsaber chainsaw.

Who was begging for a live-action version of this? Will, Mike, and Sam once again try to ruin their childhoods (with little success) by taking on a franchise that has existed and been beloved since before any of them were born that was then almost ruined with the 1994 live-action adaptation of The Flintstones. Starring John Goodman as Rick Moranis as Fred and Barney, respectively, the film boils down to essentially an extended episode of the original show with random scenes that barely go anywhere to just fill time. Even with a decent cast (with the exception of THAT actress playing Betty who was probably just cast because she could do the laugh), this film does not ride the nostalgia train that well other than being a simple family film with a large budget. Although they still do see it's merits, the Commit One crew is ready to send this one back to the Stone Age.

They're tired, they're at each others' throats, but they need to finish and they have the worst for last! Will, Mike, and Sam conclude their seemingly endless recording session by taking on the final film in their first ever Trilogy of Torture: the 2017 film Jeepers Creepers 3. Despite having Jonathan Breck return one last time as the Creeper and writer/director Victor Salva come back behind the camera, the film proves what NOT to do for a follow-up with poor effects, a nonsensical plot, terrible acting, and Creeper motivations and supernatural elements that, when compared to the arguably first two better films, makes ZERO sense in the long run. It's confusing, it's maddening, it's unneeded and it may spell the end of the Commit One crew's sanity. The end is in sight with the conclusion of the first ever Trilogy of Torture, it's just too bad the third film is not any good.
