Alisha Casey is a program director at a treatment center in Los Angeles. She walks us through growing up in a wild household in Florida (we know) and how she ended up needing to get sober. We discuss what constitutes ego versus healthy confidence, Diana hits us with a heavy "would you rather," Shannon has some tips for 4th of July in Los Angeles and we get into other recovery related topics.

Matt Jarvis is a long time friend of both Evan and Diana. Matt discusses always searching for something throughout his entire life. Even throughout his drinking and using he describes traveling to India in search of spirituality. He walks us through his story from his first drink to his last shot and all the madness in between that we've all grown so accustomed to. Also in this episode Shannon needs a nap, Evan knows German, Diana stayed off her phone the entire interview and the worm drinks to please us. 

Our guest this week is Will Carlson. He is a Social Worker and is currently in school for his Masters Degree at UCLA. He discussed shame versus guilt, obsessive compulsive behaviors, spending time in juvenile detention centers, and getting sober at the age of 16 in the Bay Area. Shannon now has a segment for her thoughts from the car ride over and we venture off into all kinds of recovery related nonsense. 

On this episode of Common Peril Shannon put some thought into a deep topic to bring to the group, Evan plans and shares his relapse plan, The Worm switched to glass bottle Bud Lights, and Diana played cat as a child. We discuss trauma and how the ways we have dealt with it in the past has left us with some character defects as well as assets. We play the tape through on some relapse plans and we do our bi-weekly sobriety check-in and 12-step meeting tally. Wait to relapse until minute 20. We kind of went down a dark road for a minute.

Marc Mahoney has been working in drug addiction and alcoholism treatment for 10 years and has a personal impact on Evan, Shannon and Diana. Marc discusses growing up in Massachusetts, studying acting in New York and Russia, moving to Los Angeles and getting sober in Hollywood in the 90's. We discuss our struggles to commit to sobriety, having to take daily action to maintain sanity and our current struggles and solutions.

Fred Bass is the director of admissions and outreach for a treatment center in Los Angeles. Fred talked to us about growing up in Florida, wanting to be Scarface, coming back after some relapses, finding 12-step programs and working in drug addiction and alcoholism treatment. We discuss a wide array of topics including 5-year-plans, personal motivations for staying sober, joining a cult, and experiences in Scientology.
