  • American Lung Association Events for 2021
D-19 has also proven to be especially dangerous to those already living with chronic lung disease, which today affects over 35 million Americans.

o Here in Connecticut alone, according to last year’s State of the Air report, there are more than 70,000 kids with pediatric asthma, and nearly 300,000 adults with asthma. Plus another 153,000 with COPD, and 2,116 with Lung Cancer.

o These events event shines the spot light on lung disease – and allows each of us to experience just a shred of we call the Fight For Air – something they experience daily.

o It raises awareness and funds so that we can come together as a community to support those suffering with lung diseases including COVID-19, invest in more treatments to help them live healthier lives, and research how to end lung disease for good.

    EVENT INFO:

    · This year, we know that many are participating to do their part to fight COVID-19 and in honor of someone who has struggling with the virus.

    · Despite the seriousness of lung disease– these events are going to be a lot of fun. It’s NOT going to be easy – it’s hard – but it’s supposed to be hard. It symbolizes the fight for air that people with lung disease struggle with every day.

  • iHeartWomen Pretty Tough: Leaps and Bones
In 2008 Laurie and Amy were on their way to see Melissa
Etheridge in Lowell, MA. During this drive they were both at their
wits end with their respective jobs, neither very happy. This led to
the discussion, “WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH OUR LIVES?”
Within an hour, they came up with the name, bakery, logo and
business plan. Leaps & Bones, LLC was born!
Important to note, between 2008 to 2014 they made their love
legal and were united in a civil service ceremony, this provided
them both with benefits and a security blanket as the business got
started. They were later, “upgraded”, as Laurie and Amy say, when
marriage laws finally became legal for same sex couples in
    Connecticut on October 1, 2010.
They now boast over 300 specialty baked goods and an array of
specialty celebration cakes including the Bacon Lovers Cake with
fresh bacon, the dog fan-favorite Ice Cream Cake made with house
made Peanut Butter Ice Cream & Yogurt and more! They also
donate a free cake to any K9 Officer or K9 First Responders
    birthday and retirement!
Leaps & Bones, LLC at the Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk
in South Windsor has survived 10+ years! They have 8 amazing
employees who all share their passion for pets and many of whom
volunteer at local animal rescue facilities.
