  • Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program
The mission of the Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program is to protect the health and safety of
the people of Connecticut. We strive to prevent lead poisoning and promote wellness through education
and a wide range of program activities that relate to lead poisoning prevention, specifically childhood
    lead poisoning prevention.
Childhood Lead Poisoning is the most common pediatric public health problem, yet it is entirely
preventable. Once a child has been poisoned, the impairment it may cause is irreversible. Lead harms
children's nervous systems and is associated with reduced IQ, behavioral problems, and learning
disabilities, among other health outcomes. While lead paint in homes built before 1978 continues to be
the most common source of lead exposure, there are other sources of lead that can poison a child or
adult. No amount of lead is safe for the body.

Jason Jakubowski joins Renee DiNino on iHeartCommunities

Foodshare is leading an informed, coordinated response to hunger in Hartford and Tolland counties.

The 37th Annual Foodshare Walk Against Hunger will take place virtually from September 13 - 19, 2020! Online registration and fundraising is open and will remain open until then. Along with our Presenting Sponsor, Stop & Shop, and our hometown team the Hartford Yard Goats, participants are encouraged to find their own 1.5 mile course to walk to raise awareness of and resources for the issue of food insecurity in Hartford and Tolland counties. Funds raised from the Walk help support not only Foodshare but the partner programs that help us serve the growing number of people in Greater Hartford who struggle with hunger.

We will celebrate on social media and continue the traditions of fun, community building, with some special surprises all week long!

Join a team or create your own! It’s easy! Your fundraising efforts will help Foodshare continue to provide relief for people struggling with hunger, as well as support long-term efforts to increase access to healthy food while addressing the underlying issues that contribute to hunger.
