Today we will read through the story of King Solomon and see how he was called to build God's temple in Jerusalem. We will also get to see how his wealth and wisdom both helped to serve the Lord and also how it caused competition for his loyalty and devotion to God.

King Solomon struggled later in life as his own splendor got to his head and he began to fall away from God. This caused a huge problem for al of Israel. Even though he was warned to follow God's laws and stay loyal to God, Solomon focused more on his own wants and desires than the good of his country. This would lead to devastating consequences.

Today we will learn more about Aaron, the brother of Moses.
Aaron had a very special calling to be the High Priest of Israel, but really messes up when he creates a false idol for the Israelites to worship. We will see today what happens when people bow to peer pressure and how there are always consequences for our actions.
It is an amazing story of an incredible fall from grace, and then restoration and forgiveness. We serve a good, loving and forgiving God, and today we will see just how forgiving he is.

Today we will look at the quasi-tragic story of Samson. He is a Bible character that many of us are familiar with but his story has so many places where he made some pretty big mistakes.

As we start this sermon series for the month of September, we are looking at places where people are called by God, but also called out by God or others for the way they act or treat people. In this story, Samson is pretty much given free reign over his own life. And because of his poor decision making skills, people are put at risk. If only someone would have just called him out for his actions....

This sermon series begins with a tragic story where SOMEONE should have spoken into Samson's life to help him answer his calling better. This very easily could be any of our story. Being called out may hurt, but it is important so we know our place in God's plan

Does the world tell you that if you rest, you are lazy? That if you take some time to breathe that you're not "Giving it your all?"
Then today's sermon is for you.
God doesn't want us to be overwhelmed. God doesn't want us to run from one thing to another. God wants us to follow Christ's example and take some time to rest and restore our souls.

A couple of weeks ago we got to hear about how God loves us and equips us for life's journey from Pastor Jeff Jaynes. This week, we pick up on the surrounding scriptures in the book of John to see just where some people drew the line at following Jesus and then walked away from faith in him.
Today, we will recount the world that Jesus walked into when he came to earth and we will see how our world today compares. Join us today as we consider how far we are willing to go to love Jesus and follow him.
