Shennette Sparkes came by the show to talk about Laps 4 Lupus 2018 Educational Health Fair and Lupus Walk. Over 1.5 million Americans suffer with Lupus, 100,000 being Floridians. There is no cure for Lupus yet! Shanette is an advocate for Lupus hoping to raise money for Lupus awareness, and encourage those living with Lupus to #STANDTALLAGAINSTLUPUS by living a more healthy lifestyle. Dr. Nathaniel ‘Nat’ Glover came by the show to talk about his Legacy! Dr. Nathaniel (“Nat”) Glover made history in 1995 when he was elected as the first African-American sheriff in the state of Florida after serving on the force since 1966. He served for two terms, and continued his lifetime of service as the 29th President of Edward Waters College, a Historically Black College. Dr. Nathaniel Glover made history by being elected as the first African American Sheriff in Florida in more than 100 years and the first African. We also discussed Edward Waters College family hosting the lavish retirement gala for the 29th President, Dr. Nathaniel Glover, to raise scholarships for our students in his honor!

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, Jacksonville Association of Real Estate Brokers (JAREB) will host Community Wealth Building Day! The Fair Housing Act was passed as part of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and approved by President Lyndon B. Johnson one week after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed. The group came by the show to talk about workshops covering 1st time home buyer resources, down payment assistance, mortgage counseling, insuring yourself and home properly, credit counseling and investing in real estate!

Mayor Lenny Curry came by the show to talk about The inaugural Neighborhood & Community Summit on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He is inviting all Jacksonville residents to this FREE event. Jacksonville residents can learn about available City resources and participate in educational workshops! He also spoke on his journey as Mayor, his passion for ensuring our children are safe in the community and Enhancing the Quality of Life for the Entire City!

Donovan Darius called in to the show to talk about his upcoming motivational speaking event as key note speaker for Caregiver Expo on April 14th. He talked about his mother, humble beginnings, and his vision for his non- profit organization The Donovan Darius Foundation who partners with other organization in Jacksonville to host life camps and mentorships to youth, teenagers and parents in areas of personal leadership and life skills.

Justin Whitfield, franchise owner of Chick-Fil-A in Kingsland, GA, came by the show to invite the community to enjoy family fun at the 6th Annual Autism 5k Run. Justin also talked about his family and having children with Autism and why the 6th Annual Autism 5k Run means so much to him.

Dani Deyton - Director of Community Development from Family Support Services of North Florida, came by the show to talk about Duval and Nassau counties there are approximately 1,500 children living in out of home care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Of these children, more than 100 are currently waiting to be adopted by a loving family. Children available for adoption are often over the age of 10; part of a sibling group or have medical/mental health needs

Joyce, Jolisa and Josalyn Brison came by the show to talk about their endeavors of 20 years! Heart for Children Inc. has provided underprivileged and at-risk youth ages 5 to 17, the opportunity to be in a safe and nurturing environment during the school year and summer. Founded by Joyce Brinson, HFC is well known throughout the community as a family-oriented organization that teaches the importance of education and team building. One of HFC's many goals are for the children to grow into productive adults that will one day positively give back to their communities.
