  • How do I get the best PGA FedEx Cup playoff coverage you can get it with Casey O"Donnell and Complete Sports Media

This was a really fun breakdown with Casey O'Donnell to discuss the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The tournament was held at Olympia Fields in Chicago and it was a really tough course that had most players scrambling just to make pars.  The winning score was -4 compared to last weeks win by Dustin Johnson at -30.  Speaking of DJ the World # 1  and Fedex Cup # 1 was in the drivers seat early on in the final round as he started the day tied for the lead. He then proceeded to birdie 3 of the first four holes to give himself a cushion.  There were other golfers who played solid golf and threatened the top of the leaderboard but it was the World # 2 Jon Rahm who emerged as the leader in the clubhouse at -4.  DJ had to drain a 43 foot putt on the 72nd hole to force a playoff.  The two of them went back to the 18th tee and played the last hole again.  When they hit the green with their approach shots DJ looked to be in the much better position. When Jon Rahm read his putt and sent it on its way I don't think anyone expected it to go in but that is what happened.  The 66 and 1/2 foot bomb won him the tournament as DJ wasn't able to match his shot.

With the best players in the world playing so well this bodes well for East Lake in Boston next week for the Tour Championship and the finale of the FedEx Cup playoffs.  The top 30 made it into that tournament and should provide us with amazing golf starting on Friday with the Monday finish on Labor day.

It was a real battle to get into the top 30 and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes just made it by sinking a tough five footer for par on his last hole of the tournament.  Billy Horschel made it in thirtieth place after Canadian Corey Conners three putted from five feet to fall into a tie and give Horschel the spot by less than a point. All thirty now qualify for all of the majors and World Golf Championships and the Tournament of Champions,

The revised playoff format now has Dustin Johnson starting the first day at 10 under par Jon Rahm will be in second at 8 under, Justin Thomas third at seven under par and so on. The players sitting in the 26th through 30th place will start at even par ten shots back of DJ.  It should lend to a very interesting tournament and have the golfers who are the best in the world currently battling it on for the top prize of $15 Million dollars and big paycheques for all with a purse of $60 Million.

     Enjoy the golf

  • How to get coverage on the NBA and the Social Justice Coalition just listen to Jason Cameron on Complete Sports Media's podcast

We started this episode speaking about how the professional leagues had all taken a hiatus late last week to address the social injustice concerns after the Jacob Blake shooting. We were happy to see the NBA take the lead and boycott games and then all of the other North American leagues following suit. The NBA Players Association and the NBA owners have agreed to establish a Social Justice Coalition with representatives from players, coaches and governors. This coalition will be focused on a broad range of issues, including increasing access to voting, promoting civic engagement and advocating for meaningful police and criminal justice reform.

We then discussed the unfortunate deaths this weekend of three individuals that had ties to the NBA and the sporting world.

We spoke of the shocking news that Chadwick Boseman had died after a 4 year battle with colon cancer. Chad was a huge NBA fan and had relationships with many in the league. He had played a lot of prominent roles like Jackie Robinson in 42, Ernie Davis NFL Hall of Famer in The Express, T'Challa in the Black Panther etc etc.

One of the other unfortunate passings this weekend was Clifford Robinson the 18 year veteran of the NBA. "Uncle Cliffy is best known for his time with the Portland Trail Blazers helping lead them to the NBA finals in 90 and 92.

Last but not least Lute Olson the long time Hall of Fame college basketball coach just passed away at 85 years old and is most remembered for his 25 year run as Head coach of the Arizona Wildcats. He took over a program at Arizona that was not very good and helped rise it to National prominence. They made 23 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances once he turned the program around. Dozens of NBA players have come from that program and we spoke about quite a few of them.

Our conversation ended up turning to discuss the on the court action as the first round was almost wrapped up and the second round was just starting .

  • How to get a breakdown of the NBA playoffs tune into Complete Sports Media and Olivier Pheulpin

It was a welcome sight to have former NBA reporter and writer Olivier Pheulphin joining on a podcast to discuss the playoffs.. We recorded the episode in the morning of August 26th and we were wanting to breakdown the first round so far and look ahead a little. We discussed a lot of great aspects of the games and performances that have happened so far. We obviously talked about Luka Doncic, Donovan Mitchell, Lebron James and other epic performances.

There was unfortunately a shadow being cast on the league because of the police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin. There was a few statements from the Toronto Raptors players that speculated on the possibility of a boycott of their game coming up on Thursday. In the following hours of our conversation the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the floor leading to the postponement of their game against Orlando. This eventually led to the postponement of all of the scheduled NBA games on Wednesday August 26th.

Please listen to our takes and opinions of the playoffs so far and our look ahead but realize this was recorded before the protests and postponements.

Thank you Olivier for your great insight and valuable opinions.

  • How to get a real conversation about Lionel Messi just watch Olivier Pheulpin on Complete Sports Media

What an amazing time to have Olivier Pheulpin join us to discuss the massive news of Lionel Messi asking Barcelona to let him leave the only club he has ever known.

The huge news of Messi wanting to leave Barcelona shocked the soccer world and the entire sports world and it created a firestorm of speculation on where he might end up. I asked Olivier if he could give us the scoop of the century and let us know if Messi was going to Juventus but no such luck. If you are a regular viewer of Complete Sports Media then you know that Olivier is the Technical director of the Juventus soccer academy in San Antonio, Texas. He is a life long football guy (soccer in North America) originally from France. He really gave us some amazing insight into this Messi situation and unprecedented potential or inevitable move from Barcelona. Messi started with Barcelona at 13 years old with their football Academy. He joined to the top club in 2006 and has went on to become one of the greatest players ever in history. After being embarassed 8 to 2 in the Champions league semi-final at the hands of Bayern Munich it seemed like the issues and difficulties proved to be irreparable. Messi has been having troubles with the Barcelona front office and this seemed to also lead to this acrimonious split. This is going to be exciting to follow and we will address it as soon as we get word on the direction this story takes.

Thank you Olivier for your great insight and valuable opinions.

  • How to enjoy the NBA first round playoffs just invite Jason Cameron into Complete Sports Media

We welcomed Jason Cameron in to our podcast to have a discussion on the NBA. This day ended up being designated Mamba day because the date is 08/24 the two numbers that Kobe Bryant wore for the LA Lakers. There was a lot of tributes for Kobe and his daughter Gigi and the others who tragically lost their lives in that helicopter crash January 26th of 2020. The Lakers wore special throwback uniforms for their game against Portland today. There was a lot of amazing videos and comments from the NBA world today.

We then discussed the unbelievable and shocking police shooting of Jacob Blake that happened in Kenosha, Wisconsin. This city is just outside of Milwaukee and has been put on the map again for all the wrong reasons. The released video of the incident is tragic and sickening to watch but these videos are necessary to stop the police brutality and violence. It was really emotionally draining and hard to discuss but we are glad we talked about it to shed more light on it.

Our focus then turned to the action on the court and the great NBA week of the playoffs that we were just witness to. Enjoy the breakdown and all the details that we discussed.

  • Where can I find the best MMA coverage tune in to Jason Cameron with the Complete Sports Media team

The UFC Vegas 7 card was beset with numerous pullouts and cancellations and eventually there were only nine fights on the card.  We welcomed Jason Cameron into our podcast to breakdown the card.  We were treated to great takes as usual and it was very insightful.

The Fight Night was headlined by Frankie Edgar vs Pedro Munhoz as Frankie finally moved down to bantamweight for the first time.  The UFC has constantly asked Edgar to fight at the 135 lb limit as it seems to be a more natural fit for his body.  Edgar and his camp always refused to fight in the bantamweight division and it was hard to argue as he has carved out a Hall of Fame career at featherweight and lightweight.  He is a former Champion at lightweight and now after Saturday nights split decision victory he is a winner in three different weight classes.  The list of guys that have been able to get wins in three different divisions is a select few highlighted by Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Diego Sanchez, Vitor Belfort and Kenny Florian.  The main event was a razor thin decision and as close as they come to a draw. This fight was very difficult to judge and both fghters put on a very good display of high level MMA and both received praise for their efforts.

This card also had the biggest upset in UFC history according to the odds makers.  There were some incredible and unexpected comebacks and unforgettable moments that ended up making this truncated 9 fight card one memorable UFC night.

Enjoy the breakdown and discussion from one of our favorite people on the planet Jason Cameron.

  • How to breakdown and preview the NHL's 2nd round playoffs with Dale Cory and Complete Sports Media

Complete Sports Media welcomed back Dale Cory into our podcast forum to discuss the NHL playoffs. This breakdown comes just as we have started the second round of the NHL playoffs.

The Vancouver Canucks had a crushing 5 to nothing beat down at the hands of the Las Vegas Golden Knights in game one. This was definitely not the way the Canucks faithful wanted the series to start but they were exposed for their shortcomings and played their worst game of the playoffs. This is only one game so it is definitely not time to panic but they must turn in a much better game two to give hope and confidence to themselves and their fans. The Canucks young guns Bo Horvat, Elias Petterson, Brock Boeser and Quinn Hughes all struggled mightily in game one. The Canucks MVP of the season and playoffs Jacob Markstrom also seemed to really be fighting the puck and wasn't positionally strong in the Canucks net. The entire team needs to put forth a better effort in the next game and series. Coach Travis Green needs to put a game plan in place and make a series of this one.

We spoke about all of the other series as the top eight NHL teams are still alive and fighting for the Stanley Cup. Enjoy the breakdown.

  • How to get the most fun PGA playoff breakdowns just watch Casey O'Donnell with Complete Sports

This was a great PGA breakdown of the first leg of the Fedex Cup playoffs at the Northern Trust Open.

Dustin Johnson dominated in incredible fashion as he shot thirty under par to win by 11 shots. He shot a second round 60 and kept pouring the ball into the hole the entire weekend to take over the world #1 and Fedex Cup #1 position heading into the BMW Championship next weekend. It was a masterful performance that hasn't been seen in over a decade where he practically lapped the field. We dove into his tournament and the zone he seemed to be in.

The other players that were playing for second place ended up being beat by Harris English who is also playing great golf these days.

The unfortunate part of the playoffs is that only the top 70 players make it to the second leg and that led to Phil Mickelson getting knocked out. That however will lead him to tee it up on the Champions tour for the over 50 crowd. Phil turned 50 in June and will head to the Ozark national and being the heavy betting favorite to win in his debut.

We also mentioned the shocking win by Sophia Popov who was ranked 304th in the world as she headed into this past weekends Womens Open Championship win. The event was held at Royal Troon and she beat the field by two strokes. No one has ever won a major with a lower ranking it was a truly epic performance.
