  • How to get great NHL hockey coverage tune in for Dale Cory on the Complete Sports Media podcast!

We welcomed Dale Cory to our podcast to talk about the NHL playoffs. The Vancouver Canucks game had just completed a 3 to nothing win over Minnesota in game three just as we went to air.  We discussed the game and the series at length.  The Canucks young talent has really impressed us and especially Quinn Highes with three assists in this game.  Vancouver lost the opening game by the same 3 zip score. This result had a lot of people concerned that this could lead to a really early exit from the bubble. After winning the second game 4 to 3 and now taking a two games to one lead the concern has waned.  The series will have a short turnaround with a game tomorrow evening with the Canucks hoping to close out the five game series.

Our conversation shifted focus into a lot of the other highlights from the seven qualifier matchups.

Then we briefly discussed the  round robin seeding matchups that have lacked the intensity and focus that the qualifiers have had.

We were thrilled again to have Dale join us to discuss the NHL and you will enjoy our conversation. Give it a listen and tell your friends and family!

  • Looking for exciting golf coverage tune in to Casey O'Donnell and Complete Sports Media for the best breakdowns on your podcast platform!

What a great breakdown this was as we talked about 5 tournaments in golf.

The main focus was the Fedex St Jude Classic from Memphis, Tenessee.  Justin Thomas took a huge three shot victory at 13 under to reclaim the world number 1 that he held back in 2018.  He shot a beautiful 65 on Sunday to pull out the huge win.  Brooks Koepka had a great opportunity to win just one shot back but hit it into the water on 18 and carded a double bogey. Phil Mickelson, Daniel Berger and Tom Lewis all tied Koepka for second place at 10 under par. Lewis shot 61 66 on the weekend to race up the leaderboard.  Brooks goes into this week as the two time defending champion of the PGA Championship which will be held starting Thursday at Harding Park in San Francisco.

Our discussion turned to the Barracuda championship and the first victory on the PGA tour for Richie Werenski.  This tournament features some emerging talent and is the fifth consecutive year that a player has won his first tournament here.  They use the modified stableford scoring system that rewards aggressive play and is fun to watch.

We then spoke briefly about the Champions tour and the Ally Challenge from Grand Blanc, Michigan.  This was the debut for Jim Furyk in the Champions 50 and over tour and he had a two shot victory!  He edged out Retief Goosen and Brett Quigley.  Canadian Mike Weir also made his Champions tour debut and played solid and tied for 27th.

Our focus shifted to the LPGA tour and the victory for Danielle Kang and her rise to #2 in the womens world ranking. This is the best ranking for an American woman in some time.  Her partner in life is Maverick McNealy who finished a very respectable 7th at the Barracuda Championship. He has been having a lot of great results this year and really looked great heading into the final round. What a golfing power couple!

The episode finished with us looking at the odds for the upcoming PGA Championship major.  We will have a full preview on Wednesday so keep your eye out for that one!  We will be giving you best bets and some optimal DraftKings lineups and parlays etc.

  • How do you get the ultimate UFC, NBA, NFL, NHL breakdown with Jason Cameron and Complete Sports

Another really great podcast episode with Jason Cameron and Complete Sports.  UFC Fight Island fight night 174 had Robert Whittaker vs Darren Till and it was a technical masterpiece victory for "The Reaper" Whittaker.  We had a very in depth breakdown of the whole card from top to bottom.

We also previewed the upcoming fight card from the Apex card in Las Vegas featuring Derek Brunson vs Edmen Shahbazyan.  Our conversation eventually turned to the NFL and the big trade for top safety Jamal Adams who went to to Seattle Seahawks along with a fourth round pick. The Seahawks traded two first round and one third round pick to the New York Jets and safety Bradley McDougald.  A very steep price but for one of the best safeties in the game it could be worth it. NFL training camps are set to open this week and it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

The baseball world was rocked on Monday as word came down that 13 members of the Miami Marlins baseball team tested positive for Covid 19.  The league then postponed their next two upcoming games as well as their last weekends opponents the Philadelphia Phillies game against the New York Yankees.  This coming on the heels of the first weekends action in baseball's return to play has shook up the entire sports world.

We touched on the new name just announced the Seattle Kraken for the latest NHL hockey expansion franchise.  Jason likes it and thought it was a great move by the team.

Enjoy this latest great episode breaking down most of the sports here in North America.

  • How can you get Complete Sports Coverage? Just invite Dale Cory to discuss sports and it happens!

This is a podcast that makes us see why we called our Podcast Complete Sports Media coverage!  We invited Dale Cory an old and great friend into our studio to discuss a variety of sports.  Dale has such an impressive sports media background and so I asked him to list off his roots.  He will say near the end of this podcast that we could talk for hours and he is so right!   This life long sports fan has been in media most of his life and we met when we were both covering the NHL and NBA.

We talked about the NBA a little and reminisced about the Vancouver Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls.  It was nice to remember a lot of those years that are now more than 25 years in the past.

We talked a lot about baseball because today is opening day in Major League baseball.  A lifelong New York Mets fan was representing his team with their jersey.  We spoke about many aspects of baseball and brokedown a lot of topics.  This is a sprint of 60 games instead of the normal 162  game marathon season. MLB just announced a big change to their playoff format as they are expanding their playoff pool to 16 teams.

As we shifted seamlessly to talk about junior hockey there was a lot of interesting aspects that we got into. Dale provides the colour analysis for the Penticton Vees Junior A hockey team.  He has covered and worked with many junior hockey teams over his career. Those teams are the lifeblood of these smaller Canadian communities and Dale is always an integral part in their exposure and success!

We got into talking about the NHL and the playoffs that are about to begin. The playoff pool has been expanded to include 24 teams when normally it is 16.  It is nice that the playoffs are about to begin because it is typically very excting and intense hockey.

Dale does the commentating at the local race track in Penticton and he was able to tell us what kind of events that they put on there. They have been shut down because of the BC health authority and the Covid 19 pandemic. We hope that there will be more events with fans in the stands there very soon!

We discussed the new Seattle NHL franchise who just released their name and uniforms the day before.  The Seattle Kraken are going to start play in the 2021-22 season.  There have been a lot of people disliking the name as it doesn't represent the Pacific Northwest or Seattle area.  It was just nice to see another step in the process of starting a new expansion franchise. This team will immediately become a rivalry with the Vancouver Canucks because of the close proximity.  We look forward to road trips to Seattle to see the Canucks beat the Kraken!

We quickly discussed the recent announcement that Mike Tyson will be returning to boxing to face Roy Jones jr..  At 54 years of age this is probably an unwise thing to do for the health of these legends of the sport.  We will be watching if it happens though.

Thanks Dale I really appreciate your time and insight into so many topics of sports.   Enjoy it everyone,  We gave a shout out mention to a friend of ours Michael Scott at the end of this.  Michael is about to embark on a long 100 KM bike ride to raise money for MS. We at Complete Sports Media put in a donation and we hope that some of you can do the same.  The link is  http://tinyurl.com/y5245lbx Take Care,  Love Yah  Bye for Now!

  • How to get access to the NHL playoffs with Jim Hughson who gave Complete Sports Media a preview

Well this was a great day in the history of the Complete Sports media podcast.

We welcomed in Jim Hughson an icon in Canadian sports broadcasting.  He has been the lead play by play man for Hockey Night in Canada since 2009.  He has been the by play play voice for the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays and the Montreal Expos. Jim is in the Hockey Hall of Fame for his broadcasting prowess and has won numerous other awards. We were able to connect with him just before he heads to Toronto to be the lead voice for the NHL playoffs. He will start by covering both the Toronto Vs Columbus and the Montreal vs Pittsburgh play in series.  This year with the Covid 19 Pandemic shutting down the league and canceling the rest of the regular season we are in unprecedented times.  With the NHL poised to resume with a 24 team playoff in two bubble cities in Toronto and Edmonton we are on the verge of a memorable summer of hockey!  We were able to look ahead a bit to the tournament and talk about the uniqueness and improvisation that Jim and his broadcast team will have to face.

We also spoke at length about Jim and his life. It was one of my favorite hours in my life and can't wait to share it with you.  Jim is going to go down as one of the best broadcasters to ever live and we were honoured to have him join us today!  I hope that you enjoy it half as much as I did.

  • How to get the best sports coverage? Just watch Complete Sports Media with analyst Jason Cameron

This is a great podcast with our resident analyst Jason Cameron.  We spent the majority of the time breaking down the UFC. We delved into the Figueiredo vs Benavidez title fight and went through the whole card. We also looked ahead to dicuss the Robert Whittaker vs Darren Till card.

We talked about the NFL and the star players that recently took to social media to express their frustration at the seemingly lack of a plan to start this season safely.

Major League baseball just announced that Dr Anthony Faucci will be throwing out the first pitch for the Nationals against the Yankees.  The doctor has been overworked in his capacity as one of the lead Coronavirus task force heads.  After the Trump administration has tried to discredit Faucci it is nice he is being honoured with this distinction for his favorite team.

NHL revealed that they have over 2000 tests on 800 players with only 2 positive tests.  Things are working so far in the top hockey league.

The NBA has tested 346 players this week with no positive test results. Speaking of the Association Jason finished uo by saying that the food in the bubble has been horrible according to many players.  Surprising news to us and we hope that it gets addressed asap.

    Thanks for watching,

  • How to get the best PGA insight with Complete Sports Media with Casey O'Donnell resident analyst

We were able to breakdown the 2020 Memorial tournament from Muirfield Village in Dublin Ohio.  This tourney is always remembered for being Jack's place as Jack Nicklaus is the designer of this course.  The winner was John Rahm the Spaniard who took over the #1 world ranking spot over Rory Mcilroy.  It was the second of back to back tournaments at the great track and this week the course had a lot more bite. The scores were high and it was a much tougher test as the course played so different from just a week before.  Enjoy the breakdown.

We briefly previewed the 3M championship in Minnesota upcoming this week.   We will do a more comprehensive preview and give betting tips on Wednesday the day before the first round.
