  • How to breakdown the UFC cards with Complete Sports Media and our resident analyst Scott Holburn

This was a great breakdown of the UFC card from Abu Dhabi that had the main event featuring the Flyweight world title.  It was a rematch between Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo that ended in controversial fashion the first time.  The was no controversy this time as Figueiredo knocked Benavidez down three times and finally submitted him with a rear naked choke.  There is finally a belt holder after Henry Cejudo vacated the belt in February of this year.  There would have been a champion just over a week later if Figueiredo had not missed weight.  He won the first matchup after the collided heads with an accidental head butt that rocked Benavidez.  Joe lost concentration and got knocked out. With their being no belt holder the UFC decided to let them settle it again this past weekend. There were a lot of good fights on this card and it was fun to watch and breakdown.

We also looked ahead to the last of the four consecutive cards on Fight Island in Abu Dhabi,  The Main event of this card UFC Fight Night 174 is a middleweight matchup between Robert Whittaker vs Darren Till.  I think everyone agrees that this should be a great battle between two top contenders.  There are also three legends of the sport on the card fall from Brazil.  Shogun Rua, Fabricio Werdum and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are all fighting at this event.

    Enjoy the breakdown.

  • How to get coverage on Juventus and the NBA tune in to Complete Sports Media and Olivier Pheulpin

Complete Sports is thrilled about this podcast as we welcomed an old friend Olivier Pheulpin to join us and discuss soccer and basketball.  Olivier is the technical director for the Juventus soccer academy and soccer complex in San Antonio, Texas.  Olivier is originally from France and he came to North America to cover the NBA as a reporter.  He spent a few years in Vancouver covering the NBA expansion Grizzlies and then moved to San Antonio to cover the Spurs organization and league as a whole.  He was fortunate to get to be an insider with one of the greatest organizations in sports in the San Antonio Spurs.  They won yearly at an impressive pace and took home five NBA championships 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014 in 15 years.   With Olivier being from France one of his biggest sporting loves is Football(soccer in North America)  and he decided to return as a coach for the Alamo Revolution in San Antonio .  He had success and it seemed to fuel his desire for more involvement at a higher level.  With a playing career and work experience with Paris Saint Germain on a resume and a knowledge and love for the sport of soccer he became interested in pursuing more opportunities.  He became the director of Coaching FC Dallas in the Alamo area.  He has the motto of just go for it and he was quoted once "If your dreams don't keep you up at night they are not big enough".  He went on a European quest to find a top football club to bring a soccer academy to the US and specifically into the San Antonio area.  He eventually found the right fit with Juventus one of the worlds premier football clubs.  Juventus has Christiano Ronaldo one of the best players of his time and that has enabled them continue a dominance in Serie A.  Juventus are poised to win their 9th straight League title and take a run at a Champions league crown.  Ronaldo is one of the most marketable and famous athletes in the world.  He is the most followed user on Instagram and Facebook and is typically one of the world's highest paid athletes. So not only has Olivier convinced Juve to start a soccer academy in this area they are also building a incredible soccer facility called Soccer Central.  He should be incredibly proud of this accomplishment and for the good it will provide youth in the greater San Antonio area.

We shifted gears here and there and discussed NBA basketball at length and waxed poetic on memories we had covering the association. We spoke about the Last Dance Chicago Bulls documentary and how it was nice remembering how we were there for many of those moments.  It was a really fun conversation and I didn't want it to end.  We will have him back for more once things start back up soon.

Thanks to Olivier and our viewers and listeners.  One of my favorite people that first was a colleague and became a friend.  Enjoy! Take Care,

  • This is a full body fast home workout from Complete Sports Media and MMA analyst Stephane Cappellini

This is a great, fast and full body workout with a kettlebell.  It takes ten minutes and is a complete workout that most everyone should be capable of performing.

Complete Sports Media has a few regular contributors that breakdown sporting events. We have been so blessed for their analysis and expertise. We really wanted to give our viewers and listeners an opportunity to get to know them better.  One of our resident MMA analysts Stephane Cappellini welcomed us into his home to demonstrate his Kettlebell workout. Stephane is in fantastic shape and maintains that throughout his life. With the Covid 19 pandemic forcing most of us into our homes to quarantine home workouts have become an important part of maintaining physical and mental health. According to Stephane this workout is based on a book written by Pavel Tsatsouline. Pavel is a Belarusian Fitness trainer of Special Forces and the guy credited for bringing the Russian Kettlebell to the west in 1998.  We are very impressed with this workout with the simplicity, short time frame and lack of equipment needed.

Thanks Stephane for letting us into your home and showing us this great workout.

Thanks for tuning in and we hope that you enjoy the workout and can put it into your home.

If anyone has any questions or comments for Stephane we can forward them to him to get his feedback

  • How to watch and breakdown the PGA with Casey O'Donnell. watch Complete Sports for a Workday Open breakdown and Memorial preview

What an exciting weekend of golf at Muirfield Village in Dublin Ohio!  This inaugurul Charity Open was an amazing and memorable tournament.  They lost the John Deere Classic off the schedule so the PGA scrambled and decided to head to Muirfield one week early and have this tourney replace it on the schedule.  This will mean having back to back PGA tournaments at one course for the first time in 63 years.

It was a fantastic weekend of golf highlighted with a great roller coaster Sunday that ended up in a three hole playoff. Collin Morikawa held off one of the best in the world in Justin Thomas.  Morikawa led the tournament after the 1st with a 65 and second round 66 roaring out to to a big lead. Justin Thomas reeled him back in with a 66 of his own on saturday against Morikawa's 72.  That lead was gone by 4 holes on Sunday as JT made two bogeys and Morikawa and Viktor Hovland both were getting a lot of early birdies.  Then JT turned it around in the middle of his round and eventually had a three shot lead with three holes to play but lost it.  It forced an incredible three hole playoff.  On the second playoff hole Thomas was first to putt and sized up a fifty foot wide breaking left to right putt.  He nailed the fifty footer that almost sealed the victory but Morikawa drained a 24 foot putt of his own to continue the battle. When JT hit his tee shot behind a little tree on the 10th hole he had to lay up and when Morikawa nailed his par putt he had his second victory on tour. He has more wins (2) than missed cuts (1) in 24 tournaments.

We also look ahead to the Memorial tournament presented by Jack Nicklaus and the return of Tiger Woods searching for his record breaking 83rd career win to break the tie with Sam Snead and become the winningest golfer of all time.  Tiger is teeing it up for the first time in five months so he could be rusty.  He will be playing the first two rounds with Rory Mcilroy and Brooks Koepka and that will be a fun group to watch.  The other featured pairing we talked about was Bryson Dechambeau with Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay the defending champion of the Memorial Tournament.

Enjoy our breakdown of two great tournaments.

Love yah and bye for now #Workday

  • How to find great UFC 251 breakdowns. Check this out as Scott Holburn MMA Analyst joins Complete Sports

So the fight Island UFC 251 card finally has come and gone and we had a great breakdown.

Three title fights on the card which has only happened twice before on UFC 33 and UFC 217.  Kamara Usman dominated Jorge Masvidal and ground out a five round decsion victory.  Alex Volkanovski won a controversial 5 round split decision that many people had going the other way and having Max Holloway win the rematch and recapture his belt.  In the third title fight Petr Yan the Russian boxer eventually wore down Jose Aldo and put a bad beating on the legendary former champ.  We had a lot to talk about with all three matches and discussed them all at length.

Then we got into breaking down the great rematch between Rose Namajunas and Jessica Andrade. It was a great performance by "Thug" Rose who took the split decision win.  Amanda Ribas had a phenomenal arm bar submission win over Paige Van Zant. The debut fight of Jiri Prochazka was memorable for his fighting style and antics and huge knockout of former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir.  Mr' Finland Makwan Amirkhani put his name into the record books with his second Anaconda choke win. Only Phil Davis and Charles Oliviera have won two fights by Anaconda choke. It was an impressive performance and submission.  Davey Grant was able to get a third round knockout when he probably would have lost a decision if it went to the judges scorecards.

We previewed this mid week card called Fight Night 172 with the main event Pitting Calvin Kattar Vs Dan Ige which should be a great battle. The other great fight on the card to really look forward to is Jimmie Rivera facing Cody Stamman in a great featherweight matchup.

Thanks for checking out our great breakdown and preview!

    Take care and love yah!

     Bye for now.

  • How to get Complete Sports MMA and UFC coverage with Scott Holburn our resident MMA analyst

We welcomed Scott Holburn into the conversation.  We discussed UFC 249,  250 looked ahead UFC 251. Scott started talking about the bantamweight division in the UFC.  He said the division is stacked  with a "murders row of contenders and Sean O'Malleys performance as an example. O'Malley  was not in the top 15 until his performance at UFC 250.  Scott expressed disappointment at Jose Aldo getting a title shot coming up at UFC 251 against Petr Yan.  He pointed to Jose Aldo's debut in the bantamweight division being a decision loss to Marlon Moraes the #1 ranked contender in the division.  Our team at Complete Sports thought Aldo won that fight until the decision was read out in the cage.  There is some questioning if Aldo deserves it and Scott mentioned Cody Garbrandt, Aljimain Sterling and Marlon Moraes as possibly better opponents for Petr Yan.  When Petr Yan was discussed Scott said he was very deserving and looked like a machine.  We spoke about Cody Garbrandt"s huge knockout being one of the best finishes we had ever seen.  Scott said he has to be one of the fastest punchers in the division and controlled the fights with his calf kicks on Raphael Assuncao. We chatted about the great submission win by Aljimain Sterling who quickly took Cory Sandhagen"s back  and sunk in the rear naked choke to get the tap out victory.  Scott reiterated how he thinks jujitsu and Muay Thai kicks are dominating the sport at this time in hisory.  He reflected on Conor McGregor arguably beating Nate Diaz with those kicks in their second fight.  Henry Cejudo beat Dominick Cruz in UFC 249 to retain his belt.  We had some big laughs at Cejudo calling himself the greatest of all time.  Scott was very accurate in bringing up Jon Jones as a fighter who had really cleaned out his division with no argument and was one of the greatest of all time. Anderson Silva was also brought up as one of the fighters who legitimately can claim that he beat all comers in his division for a lengthy run at the top.  Cody Stamann had entered the cage with a heavy heart as his 18 year old brother had just lost his life the previous week.  Cody got a huge emotional win over Brian Kelleher. "Martial Arts is Violent Meditation" is one of Holburns favorite sayings and he said it could have been exactly what Cody needed.    We then shifted gears to speak about UFC 249 and the discussion started speaking about Justin Gaethje and his dominating performance against Tony Ferguson.  Scott had predicted that Gaethje would win and had won a bet with Mike Church(Churchy to most) to have some bragging rights. We both referenced how difficult a matchup this was for Ferguson as he had spent the last few years constantly training for Khabib Nurmagomedov and the fight had been postponed 5 times.  Gaethje brings a completely different skill set to the cage and it gave Tony all sorts of troubles in a terrible beating.   The conversation shifted to UFC 251 that had just been announced for Fight Island  on July 11th and specifically the three title fights on that card. We spoke about the main event that pits Kamara Usman vs Gilbert Burns and how he deserves the title shot.  Jorge Masvidal had been rumoured to be the deserving next challenger but it sounds like he might face Conor McGregor and make his money and get the notoriety he wants.  Jorge Masvidal  had beat Darren Till and knocked out Ben Askren with a flying knee.  We then broke down the Max Holloway vs Alex Volkanovski 2 title fight.  We both wonder and sort of doubted that Holloway can figure out how to avenge his loss from last time. Scott kind of wrapped it up perfectly about how the UFC has made us feel human again after not having any sports to watch for months!

This podcast had  a lengthy intro leading into this conversation about the Bay area.  There was a lot of recent subjects with Bay area connections like Colin Kaepernick, Golden State Warriors players marching in black lives matter protests, Oakland raiders moving to Las Vegas, With two teams there MLB fighting amongst themselves trying to get back to playing ball. We welcomed Hendrix Young into our podcast and started a great spirited conversation that focused on many sports from a Bay area perspective.  It was nice to get such a unique view of many topics with San Francisco and Oakland teams in the fore front.  The surrounding area is now home to 5 professional teams in the four major sports with the Raiders abandoning Oakland for a second time.   This was an interesting free flowing conversation that we found intriguing and enjoyable.  We hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.
