The unknown can be a terrifying thing can't it? As Christ followers we know that we are supposed to trust God with everything but when we can't see where we are going that can be scary. I'll be the first one to admit that I have to remind myself daily of the goodness and faithfulness of God so that I trust Him fully! Without looking back at all he's done in my life and the lives of others (like my guest this week) it's a challenge to embrace my faith and trust God's plan.
That's exactly why I invited Renee Helmkamp to share a little of her testimony with us this week. She is a mom and now grandma that is living her best life in her 6th decade of life! She is a pediatric physical therapist by education and recently returned to the USA from living & serving for 3 years in the Dominican Republic. Now Renee is going back to school to become a preschool teacher for students with special needs and going on the adventure of a lifetime with the Lord.
Hearing her story of trusting the Lord was exactly what I needed this week. It's an emotional and grief filled time for me personally and when I hear these stories of God's faithfulness it reminds me of his presence and his deep love for me. I pray it does the same for you.

My guest this week knows a thing or two about fighting doubts. Lisa Steven is the co-founder of Hope House Colorado, which provides free self-sufficiency programs to parenting teen moms in key areas of life along with offering housing support and so much more. But Lisa didn't just wake up one day and think… wow what a great idea to support teen moms. She began this journey as a teen mom herself. With little to no support found in her own family, her boyfriend's (now husband) family welcomed her in and extended the love of Jesus to her in a way she had never experienced.
Doubt that she could be a mom at such a young age.
Doubt that starting Hope House Colorado would actually work.
Doubt that this thing she felt God calling her to would actually work out.
Yup… she can speak to us about doubt. But also HOPE!! There is such hope in Jesus! Her story and so many others can look impossible but with God at the center, they become possible! Your journey may feel impossible at the moment, but listen in to hear how there is hope written all over it!
This conversation is going to leave you with hope, encouragement and a new awareness of God's faithfulness in your life!

To answer that question I talked with Shari Braendel from Style by Color, a woman who wants others to recognize their true beauty given to them by Christ.
Shari is the Founder & CEO of Style by Color and she inspires women to new levels of confidence through her online digital products, style programs and You Tube Channel. Author of Help Me, Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear, she is the creator of the Color Code System, and the Closet Outfit Planner.
Drawing from her many years in the color analysis industry, Shari aspires to impact women and challenge their beliefs about themselves. She has certified over 300 women since 2010 through the Color Code Academy and Christian Image Consultant Academy, offering comprehensive training aimed at equipping women with the skills and knowledge needed to become Color and Style Specialists. She is also the founder of the Women’s Matter Initiative providing Color Confidence Workshops to non-profits that serve women coming out of distress and abuse.
Our conversation was Wonderful and I learned so much about color & style in just 30 minutes!! BUT… what's more important is that she taught me how dressing confidently can help me share the love of Jesus with others.

Our testimonies are important! It says right in scripture….
Revelations 12:11 “They overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony..”
Too often we don't think our stories matter or will make an impact on the lives of others. When in fact our stories are what God is using to bring others to him! When they hear of the radical transformations, the quiet personal times with the Lord or whatever our stories hold… it draws them into the amazing person of God!
That is just what this week's guest is here to talk about! Justin Fahrenbruch is a powerful man of God who is evangelizing anywhere and everywhere he can telling others about how God saved his life. It's nothing he did on his own, it's all Jesus!!

Why does God let bad things happen to good people?
Why did God let that person die?
I love God, why am I struggling so badly?
These are the hard questions that we avoid with God until they meet us abruptly in our life. They are questions we need to ask but we aren't sure where to find the answers or maybe be are afraid of finding out the answers. Either way… we need to explore these hard topics as we grow in our faith & confidence in Christ.
My guest on the podcast this week, Pastor Justin Kendrick, gives us strategies from his newest book, How to Quiet a Hurricane: Strategies for Christian Endurance in the Midst of Life's Storms, on how to approach these questions. They are necessary to navigate life's overwhelming, frustrating and inevitable storms. These strategies empower us to move past our fears and anxieties into a life of real and enduring peace!
Justin Kendrick is the author of Bury Your Ordinary and The Sacred Us. He is the lead pastor of Vox Church, which he founded in 2011 with a small group of friends on the doorstep of Yale University. The church has since grown to multiple locations across New England, with the dream of seeing the least-churched region of the US become the most spiritually vibrant place on earth.

Trusting God is not always easy. The situations and challenges we face are overwhelming and trusting God isn't always our go-to response. We get it because we've been there too. My guest, Jill, has been through these challenges and transitions too and she's here to help shed some light on how we can trust God through the transitions and chaos of life.
Jill Savage is an author and speaker who is passionate about encouraging families. She is the author or co-author of fourteen books including Professionalizing Motherhood, No More Perfect Moms, No More Perfect Marriages (with her husband Mark), and her most recent release Empty Nest Full Life. There are so many things the world tells us should be at the top of our to-do list and consume our time. But are those the things Jesus wants us focusing on? That's where healthy boundaries come into place. Boundaries aren't walls we build to keep people out or control others, boundaries are more of a personal limit/ guideline so you can manage your own behavior. When you are setting healthy boundaries use the phrase “so that”. “I'm doing this 15 mins of Bible time so that I can connect with God and be a better version of myself for my family.” Rachel and I dive into this at length along with other so many other helpful strategies to help you get back to what Jesus is asking us to do.
