Have you ever found yourself in a conversation about faith that you feel unequipped to be a part of? You know that you trust God but you aren't sure how to explain let alone defend your faith to someone who seems to be in opposition to you. Sound familiar? I know it does to me! There was a time in my life when I knew what I believed but I had no confidence in defending it. 

That is exactly why I invited my friend Liz Cobo to join me on the podcast this week! She is a Christian Apologist who is passionate about helping believers learn to gracefully defend their faith and biblical worldview with gentleness and respect. Liz hosts the unBibled podcast and is currently a student in the Master’s degree program for Christian Apologetics at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. She is a wealth of knowledge that I am so blessed to call friend! 

During the conversation we covered so much practical information that all Christians should be equipped with when it comes to defending your faith. Apologetics is about defending our faith, not arguing or apologizing for it. The key to apologetics is to know the Bible deeply and being prepared to share our testimony whenever God presents us with the opportunity. Giving a reason for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ as our savior may be hard to get out of our mouths at times but it doesn't have to be.

This week is all about the change we long for in our lives but can't seem to ever have actually have happen. Have you ever been there? Wanting to see a situation in your life or habit change but no amount of will power seems to do the trick? I know I have been. Whether it's failed attempts at working out, relationship discord or overreacting to situations... change it something we all know we need. 

I have two amazing people on the podcast this week to talk all about how all it takes is one choice to see real and lasting change in our lives. Justin and Trisha Davis are authors, teachers, and pastors and coaches.  who create courses, do marriage conferences and coach couples, individuals and churches to help relationships thrive. They are the founders of RefineUs Ministries. They are some of the most authentic and real people I've ever met! Their ability to share the truth and offer healing through the work of Jesus is wonderful! 

Relationships can feel like a constant struggle. How can we recognize and overcome behaviors that leave us wounded, broken, and exhausted? One Choice Away from Change (Coming out March 4th!!)  helps us identify dysfunctional life patterns that cause us to repeat the same mistakes in relationships, fall into the same bad habits at work, or argue about the same things with those we love.

I am giddy about this week's podcast episode! Two of the sweetest and funniest people I know joined me to chat and share their story of God's faithfulness in their lives. It's one of those... only God could do that!... type of stories! (which are some of my favs!!) 

Janice & Danny are two peas in a pod! Their whirlwind love story is the kind of stuff only the amazing hand of the Lord could orchestrate! Both of them are joyful, full of life and love to laugh. They work together in ministry making humor collide with the truth of God's Word to inspire others to fall more in love with Jesus. Janice is the Podcast Host of 'Journey with Janice' and Author of several books and devotionals. She is the creator and host of the TELL Women’s Conferences and Holy & Hilarious Comedy Events, where she spreads God’s joy, love and truth through laughter, God’s Word and spoken word poetry. Danny is the emcee for her Holy & Hilarious Comedy events, plays guitar on the worship band and is everyone's hype man! They love to share their story and biblical truth to encourage everyone to know Jesus personally, walk in the fullness of their identity in Him and celebrate life in every season.

For the next few weeks we are going to focus on love. The love of God in our lives, the love of others and how we can love ourselves as dearly beloved children of God. This isn't to be cliche since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, but since love is being talked about I want to jump into the mix and remind us of true biblical love. 

This week I had the blessed opportunity to chat with a new friend of mine, Shayla Huber. She is an author and speaker passionate about faith, personal growth and relationships. In her transformative book, 10 Things I Hate About My Husband: How God Health My Heart, Restored My Marriage, and Set Me Free, Shayla candidly shares the struggles she faced in her marriage and how her faith journey led to healing of her heart through the love of Christ, restoration of her marriage and freedom as a daughter of Christ. Through personal stories and biblical insight, she offers encouragement and hope to women facing similar challenges, show how God's love can restore even the most broken of relationships.

We are going to kick off the year and season with one of my FAV people to hang out with over on Instagram. She is authentic, genuine, funny and has a huge heart for the Lord! Hope Reagan Harris is the author of This Is My Happy Place, Purpose Doesn’t Pause and JUST RELEASED Now Over Next! She graduated from Pepperdine University and spent seven years in corporate America. In 2024, she founded Purpose Doesn’t Pause Inc., a nonprofit celebrating and elevating God’s restoration by sharing women’s testimonies on her podcast and sending postcards worldwide.

We chat about her newest book, Now Over Next.... Our conversation covers so much of her personal testimony of how she faced FOMO (fear of missing out) as God transitioned her from working in corporate America to being a stay at home mom running a nonprofit organization.

I am completely blown away that this is the last episode of Season 5 of the Confidence in Christ Podcast!! God has been so faithful!

We are ending season 5 and 2024 with a wonderful send off. I was able to chat with Dustin George about his new book, Before Dawn: Knowing God's Presence in the Dark Seasons of Life. I have to say... what a timely message. I feel like winter brings about a bigger chance for depression, anxiety & sadness just because of the drab weather (at least in my neck of the woods). Plus... the holidays aren't always joy filled & happy for all of us. I know this all too well. 

One of the biggest ah-ha's for me during this conversation was when Dustin talked about how God has never failed. That isn't anything new to me but when we are in grief we add the word 'me' to the end of that statement... God has never failed me. But when we stop and look over all of history we see that God hasn't only never failed US personally... he has never failed ever! And he never will! That alone gives us hope in the midst of the trials and hard seasons. 

Dustin C. George is a lead pastor, a writer, and a conference speaker. He has served for nearly two decades in various pastoral positions across all age ranges. Before entering full time church ministry, Dustin taught high school English for ten years. In his free time, Dustin can usually be found fly-fishing in the Smokies, expanding his skills as a craftsman, or enjoying his next adventure. He and his wife, Rebecca George, live in East Tennessee.

Have you ever gotten a nudge from the Lord and thought... that couldn't have been real. No way God would ask me to do THAT! I'm so unqualified and the least likely person to carry out that task......but then you realize God was talking to you and he did indeed ask youth do THAT thing! 

That's sort of what happened to my guest today! God revealed an amazing plan for a unique gospel presentation through a dream and she had all the reasons ready not to do it. But God had other plans and my oh my where they wonderful! 

Joni Wolf is a happy wife, grateful mom, proud grandmother, enthusiastic storyteller and maker, author, and storyteller of the Immanuel Quilt--a traveling ministry quilt ALL about Jesus. It's the dream made into reality that is now an amazing ministry! 

She shares today on the podcast how God brought the quilt into becoming what it is today and how we, every day people, can be equipped by God himself to carry His amazing story of redemption to the world. 

You are an ambassador for Christ and that means sharing the amazing story of Jesus with others. We all have our own unique way to doing that, Joni's just happens to be in quilt form.

Traditions are something that many of us hold on to tightly. Wanting to pass on some sort of meaning or fun especially during the holidays. This year I'd like to introduce you to a new tradition that will point everyone involved towards Jesus. It's more than setting up a manger scene and reading a story, it's a short daily reminder the entire month of December that will draw you closer to God in ways you never experienced before... with the Jesse Tree. 

My new friend Donna Amidon is the author of Tracing His Promise: Understanding the Bigger Story of Jesus and What That Means for Us. It's a beautiful blend of rich theology, relatable stories, and everyday application along with renewed hope and trust in God as you witness His faithfulness to His people. 

Tracing His Promise is an inspiring study of Jesus in the Old Testament. You can use the stories to teach your children/grandchildren about the promise of Christ during the Advent season.
