We are starting off the season by talking with the Director and creator of the outstanding film, He Calls Me Daughter. Rick was one of my favorite interviews of the entire season. His enthusiasm is contagious and the film God commissioned him to create changed my life. I don't just say that because he's on the podcast, I tell you that because it is 100% the truth.
Rick Altizer directed the Kendrick Brothers’ documentary Show Me the Father, which played in more than 1,100 theaters nationwide and earned an A+ CinemaScore—an honor achieved by only a handful of films each year. In addition, Altizer has directed three award-winning documentaries for comedian Chonda Pierce: Unashamed (#2 film in America), Enough (#2 film in America), and Laughing in the Dark (#5 film in America). A two-time Dove Award–nominated music producer, Altizer has sold more than one million albums and has produced music for artists including Johnny Cash, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, and Russ Taff. As a recording artist, he has released seven studio albums and earned three Top 10 singles.
Altizer is currently directing the feature documentary He Calls Me Daughter. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Jan. They have two sons, David and Matthew, two daughters-in-law, Laura and Kimmy, and three grandsons: Ryan, Caleb, and JJ. "He Calls Me Daughter" finished in the top 5 releases at the box office during its theatrical run. The film has a 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Happy last episode of Season 8 of the podcast!!
This week we get a behind the scenes look at why Christian Fiction novels make such an impact on our lives and why it's important to read them. Don't get me wrong I love non-fiction books and own a lot, but there is something special about fiction that meets us in new ways! Robin talks all about it today!
Robin Jones Gunn is the best-selling author of over 100 books, including the timeless Christy Miller series for teens. Her multi-award-winning Christian fiction includes the Glenbrooke, Sisterchicks and Suitcase Sisters series. Four of her novels have been made into Hallmark Christmas movies. Robin's popular non-fiction includes, "Victim of Grace" along with "Before You Meet Your Future Husband" and "Praying for Your Future Husband" both co-authored with Tricia Goyer. Her acclaimed gift book, "By the Sea" is a fan favorite. She speaks at international and local events. She and her husband have two grown children and live in California where she co-hosts the "Women Worth Knowing" podcast with Cheryl Brodersen.
I absolutely love Robin's novels so I'm going to give you my top 5 (even though I love them all!) So if I were you I'd hit up my local library for these asap!

The title of this week's episode is applicable to every trial we face in life. If it's not good, God's not done yet. Is that just the truth? I can't count how many times I have felt hopeless while looking at a situation I'm facing just to look back 6 months or a year later to go, wow... look at what God has done!
Danae testifies to that and I'm so grateful she was willing to come on the podcast and share with us about this hard time in her life. She is a woman of God who loves the Lord with all of her heart and does her best to follow him. She is a wife and momma who is actively showing her family what it means to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and say yes to him. She is a true friend and someone I admire.

Have you ever been having one of those days where things just don't seem like they will get better but then all of a sudden God intervenes with a story? You know, a story of someone who has seen the goodness of God and is testifying about it?
Mark is an expert at helping us hear these testimonies through the work that he does with God Reports!
Mark Ellis grew up in California and graduated from UC Berkeley. At age 29 he accepted Christ after reading Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell. Mark is a seasoned storyteller and journalist. After working in commercial real estate for 18 years and then serving in full-time ministry for nine years, Mark pursued a career in journalism. Since his first writing assignment in 1999, Ellis has personally witnessed the impact one’s personal story can have on others and how these first-hand accounts inspire faith and encourage trust in God. After a mission trip to the southern Philippines in 2004, Ellis felt God calling him to launch a new website that would shine a positive light on the stories of faithful missionaries around the globe. In 2009, he launched God Reports, which to-date has received more than 16 million views from over 200 countries.

Change can be hard. Not just the things that are different but the hard part of trusting God in the midst of it, especially when things don't seem to make sense. Maybe it's a job loss, a death in the family, a relationship shift or a painful betrayal... or maybe it's something else entirely that you're facing that makes focusing on Christ feel difficult. No matter the situation, keeping our eyes on Jesus is key.
This week I had the wonderful opportunity to have one of my mentors share on this very topic. Brenda L. Yoder, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor, author, educator, parent, and grandparent. She grew up in the Shipshewana community, where simplicity, service, and faith weren't just ideals, they were the rhythm of daily life. Those values still run through everything she does. For over 25 years, she has served as a therapist, school counselor, and teacher, learning that the most meaningful change happens not in a hurry, but in unhurried, authentic connection.

I don't know about you but I struggle with lies and the battle in my mind a lot. There are times when the enemy is so sneaky that I don't even recognize the lie... have you been there too? This week we are breaking up and ending our unhealthy relationship with lies and we are dismantling them once and for all.
That is where our wonderful guest Gary Thomas steps in. You may have heard of him but have you heard of his newest book? It's all about dismantling lies that Christians specifically believe. He broke down a few with me during the episode and it was pure gold!!! (more on this in the weekly newsletter! Sign up below!)
Gary Thomas is a bestselling author and international speaker whose ministry strives to bring people closer to Christ and closer to others. He has sold over 2 million copies of his books, translated into over a dozen languages, and won many awards, helping establish him as a thought leader in spiritual formation, marriage and parenting. Gary served on the teaching team at Second Baptist Church in Houston for 11 years and is currently teaching at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. His ministry has led him to speaking events in all 50 states and in nine different countries, including numerous television and radio programs. wisdom doesn't happen on accident, it's something that has to be pursued.
When we dismantle the lies, we can keep our eyes on Jesus more easily. This isn't easy and it's going to cause us to truly look at what we believe and what is truth but my goodness is it going to bless us and deepen our relationship with Christ in a way nothing else can! I hope you'll take on the challenge and go through Gary's book with an open heart and willing mind. This could be the shift in your life you've been waiting for.

Parenting is hard. Let's face it, we've all thought at one point or another that we have done so much harm to our kids that we have ruined them. Things seem so impossible and feel too far gone to heal, redeem or fix. But that's just not the truth friend. That is exactly why this years Mother's Day episode is with Abbey Wedgeworth. She wrote a book called Help, I'm Ruining My Kids!: A Gospel Guide for the Mom Who's Desperate for Change. Does that sound like something you need in your life too?
Abbey is a Bible teacher, writer and homeschool mom of three young boys, is focus on helping mothers lift their eyes off their mistakes and anxieties and onto Christ. Abbey speaks honestly about shame, shortcomings, and the fear of "messing up" our kids. She knows from experience that fear is often compounded for homeschooling parents, but her message is simple and hope-filled, nothing is beyond redemption in motherhood.
The topic of identity, worth, redemption and so much more are covered in this episode and it's perfect for the mom, grandma, aunt that longs to not mess up the kids in their lives. I'm so thankful for Abbey and her words, they are so timely! Enjoy this episode and PLEASE share it with a mom you know needs to hear this message right now!

Do you struggle with fear? It doesn't have to be a crippling fear, but maybe it is. I have fears that seem to have been around my entire life and I've had some that are fleeting or seasonal. But fear is something we deal with here earth side. So what do we do about it? How do we handle fear in a Biblical way? And does God just want us to manage that fear so we can function or is there a deeper healing and freedom that he has for us?
That's what today's podcast episode is all about! Heather joins me in talking on a subject she is very familiar with personally. She went through a season where God helped her get completely set free from fear and struggles and now she uses what God taught her to help others!
Heather O’Brien is a prophetic healing coach, Bible teacher, and host of the Heal With God Podcast, ranked in the top 2% globally. She helps Christians who love Jesus but still feel emotionally stuck learn how to hear God clearly and heal with Him deeply. Through her signature Heal With God Roadmap, Heather brings practical, Spirit-led tools that break anxiety, fear, trauma, and confusion—releasing believers into confidence, clarity, and lasting peace.

Maybe you've heard this episode before and maybe you haven't but either way we need a reminder that we can trust God's faithfulness even in the unseen and unknown things of our life. This is a rerelease of an episode from season 5 of the podcast. It's the most listened to episode in the history of the podcast so I think it's one worth sharing again.
Renee Helmkamp is a mom, grandma, faithful follower of Jesus and so many other things. She may wear a lot of hats but in each area she humbly follow the Lord. It's not always easy but it is always worth it. The plan is to have her back on the podcast at some point and get an update on the things she shared, but for now we are going to listen back to where God had her a few years ago. He has continued to take her on new adventures but sometimes hearing about the old ones encourages our souls in fresh ways!
We talk about releasing our days into God's hand and how it can lead to the adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy the journey that God has you on, and cling to him all along the way. He is faithful! God is with us in the big things of life but also the small things, there is nothing in your life that he doesn't care about. He sees what you think might be insignificant and not worth asking him about, but he cares and loves you so much.

This week we are talking about a topic that I am PASSIONATE about!! Studying the Bible!! You all know how much I love studying the Bible and how important it is for each of us to be doing that. I know it can be scary and feel complicated but I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be! Reading scripture was never meant to be hard. We humans tend to overcomplicate it and it's time we put an end to that.
This week I invited Pastor Daniel Goepfrich to chat about how we can practically study scripture and actually understand it. You will see below that he has years and years of experience in this area and it is a real treat to have him share with us!!
Daniel Goepfrich (ThM, DMin) has been the Teaching Pastor at Oak Tree Community Church for more than 20 years and it's local to my neck of the woods over in South Bend, IN! He teaches Greek for Calvary University and Bible exposition and theology for Word of Life International Bible Institutes and National Theological College and Graduate School. He is an Associate Professor of Greek and Hebrew at Agathon University and served for 15 years as Professor of Bible and Theology at Tyndale Theological Seminary. He regularly speaks for international conferences, seminars, and training.
In 2017, he founded Theology is for Everyone to produce biblically sound resources that everyone can use and understand. He is the author of Hermeneutics for Everyone, Biblical Discipleship, a three-volume Chapter by Chapter commentary series on the entire Bible, and Marriage, Divorce, and Remarriage. He has also written several journal articles and contributed to multiauthor works. Daniel and Saralynn have been married since 1997. They have four grown children who are married and several grandchildren.
