- #039 WWL The Legos Meant for Adults with Refined Taste
Mad lad Will Katz guest stars to stir up the pot on our pod. We discuss what we're loving this week and 3 out of the 4 are not TV shows or movies.

Between Covid and Hurricanes, only one of us was able to see Shang Chi in theaters so Brian gives us the low down on how much cringe Marvel's kung fu flick imparts. No spoilers in that discussion. After that we all get to appreciate just how delicious the animation and storytelling is in Marvel's Disney+ series What If...? A couple spoilers in the What If...? discussion. Also, there's a moment around 7:35 where we bust up laughing. Brian's connection dropped and he got frozen hilariously in mid-knowledge bomb drop.

We answer some questions submitted by listeners and end up learning about Smash Bros socializing, drooling over Brian K Vaughan, and Savon's refusal to send thank you cards. But the biggest news is that we talk about actual books we've actually read. For a bunch of illiterate goofs, we managed to work in some real thoughts on real books. We're just as shocked as you are.

We take a look at DC's newest blockbuster, The Suicide Squad, and discuss everything from whether or not it's charting a new (better?) course for the DCEU to the possibility of a return for Will Smith's Deadshot. It was a silly and fun and nonsensical 2 hour thrill ride. But does that mean we liked it or hated it? And if you want to hear of a new food we invented, make sure you listen for Wesley's food analogy starting around 7:10 in the episode.

Captain Vonnie pilots our podcast star ship down memory lane and puts together his Starting 5 of Swaggy animated villains. In the second half of the show, we talk about What We're Loving (TM) and Mike and Wes get into an argument, again. This is our best episode, yet!

Loki might well have been Marvel's strongest effort to date on the Mouse's streaming service, but are there unintended consequences to this new avenue of storytelling? Mike also brings us a new segment called "S**t Mike Hates." Beware! This episode has some cursing (all curses are bleeped out, but still, this is probably not a kid-friendly one).

We get together to share What We're Loving (TM) as individuals. Listen in to hear why you should be checking out the Corridor Crew, Clarkson's Farm, Desus and Mero, and Rick and Morty. We definitely absolutely did not record this a couple weeks ago and try and release it today as if it's brand new. Definitely not. Enjoy this fresh, just recorded episode.
In the episode, Wesley references a podcast that interviewed the stunt coordinator/fight choreographer from Warrior (Brett Chan). That podcast is called Action Sit Rep and you can find a link to that episode here: https://strikebackcrib.com/2021/02/09/the-site-rep-brett-chan-the-man-we-had-to-talk-to/

Mike points out that eye rolling is to be expected in a seemingly forced romantic story-line for Loki, but that it makes total sense. Loki is a narcissist. We ask Savon if his view of the show has changed after 5 episodes. We also find so many bits of magic and brilliance and share them with you. Listen and subscribe!

It's highly likely that you saw Black Widow and thought, "that's acceptable." What choices did Marvel make that led them to such a satisfactory, if not satisfying, affair? We wade into this ScarJo vehicle and peel back the layers. Enjoy!

In a classic Confidently Wrong episode, we share What We're Loving (TM) and do some brief dissections on recent announcements: Battlefield 2042 and Tesla's Model S Plaid. Yes, the Tesla name is terrible, but is there something redeeming about the latest Musk Mobile? One of us got in his feelings and it's all to your benefit, dear listeners (100% it was Mike) .
