A sixth Memphis police officer has been relieved of duty in connection to the death of Tyre Nichols…Body camera video released Friday shows Officer Preston Hemphill …firing a stun gun at Tyre Nichols as he initially ran from officers during a Jan. 7 traffic stop. Officer Hemphill joins five other men who were fired on January 20 after an investigation found they had violated department policy on using force.

Congress is back to work this week…The House will debate several financial and technology-related measures…. Senate lawmakers are working off the floor setting committee assignments for the 118th congress. A floor vote is needed to approve them.

Meanwhile, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told CBS News yesterday that he is looking forward to discussing a QUOTE reasonable and responsible way that we can lift the debt ceiling” when he meets with President Biden on Wednesday.

 The Speaker said he wants spending cuts to go along with raising the debt limit…even though the White House has ruled out linking those two issues together.
