The Pennsylvania House has begun to move a package of bills designed to help reinforce Pennsylvania’s ailing volunteer fire and emergency medical services companies.

The Helpers and Heroes Package addresses an alarming decline in emergency services volunteers over recent years.

Rep. Matt Gabler, a Republican serving Clearfield and Elk Counties, authored a bill that would give local school districts the option to provide tax credits to volunteers in their communities.

About a dozen students from DuBois Area High School got to take a day trip to St. Bonaventure University in New York state for their annual Journalism Day!

Although there were more than 200 people there in total, students could break off into smaller groups to attend workshops on topics like social media, marketing, sports broadcasting, and investigative reporting.

The WPAL DuBois Fitness Center presents “Terror at the Tannery” at the DuBois Country Club on Friday, Oct. 25 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.! Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple.

Although this is an adults-only event, it benefits the WPAL After School Fit Club for kids.

Prizes will be given for Best Costume, Best Couple’s Costume, and Best Group Theme. Tantalize your senses in the Mad Scientist’s Laboratory, or compete for prizes in the scavenger hunt.

There will be a 50/50 and basket raffle along with other games and prizes!
