A Clearfield County fire company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend. The Glen Richey Volunteer Fire Company was founded in 1968 after several devastating fires in the little village near Clearfield.

Michelle Bloom, who serves on the Glen Richey Recreation Board and is in the fire company, says that the company has grown to not just include fire protection but now also a massive part of the community.

Pennsylvania’s budget bill for this year is on its way to the State Senate for consideration after the House of Representatives passed it by a vote of 188-10.

The $32.7 billion spending plan increases growth by 1.7 percent, which is below the rate of inflation (2.13 percent).

It requires no additional taxes or revenues and officially erases a deficit.

The budget also includes a record high $12.3 billion investment in education from pre-k through 12th grade, with additional increases in funding for career and technical education as well as higher education.

The budget is expected to be sent to the governor before June 30, but first it will also have to be passed by the State House and Senate.

The Pennsylvania state auditor's office is launching a review of pharmacy benefit manager practices in the state to bring transparency and accountability to prescription drug pricing. In a press conference, Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said Pennsylvania paid PBMs $3.4 billion in the state Medicaid program last year, almost double the $1.8 billion paid in 2013.
