The Brockway Borough Council bid farewell to its senior student representative Thursday night.

Angelo Inzana graduates from Brockway High School on May 27, so his time as student representative ended at Thursday’s meeting.

Councilman Mike Martino explained the importance of the student representative position.

Local churches, community members, politicians and government officials will join together at the courtyard of the DuBois City Building tonight (May 3, 2018) from 6 until 7 p.m., and you’re invited to come too.

If it’s raining tonight at 6, the prayer ceremony will be moved to inside the City Building. The theme this year is praying for unity in our country.

Brookville Council will try to resolve a maintenance dispute involving the borough’s baseball fields.

The Brookville Area Little League has had control of maintenance and leasing of the fields to other organizations but there’s been disagreement over fees and responsibilities each organization has for using the fields.

At last night’s council meeting, borough solicitor Jim Dennison said there should be previous agreements in place that involve the high school, Little League and the Brookville Grays.

Council’s parks committee plans to meet with the groups in two weeks.

Hundreds of people gathered in Harrisburg on Monday to show their support of the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms.

Several lawmakers were there to show that they are against any further legislation to regulate firearm ownership, including Rep. Cris Dush from Jefferson and Indiana Counties.

The customer appreciation day will be held this Thursday at the DuBois Airport from 5 until 7 p.m. Although it’s a free event with door prizes and food, reservations are appreciated.

The Pennsylvania State Senate just approved legislation that would require truck drivers to remove ice or snow from their vehicles following heavy storms.

Named “Christine’s Law,” the measure would help prevent tragedies like the one that befell Christine Lambert of Palmer Township in 2005. She died when a large piece of ice dislodged from a passing truck and crashed through her windshield.

Senator Lisa Boscola originally suggested the legislation.

The film “Like Arrows” follows the journey of a couple who becomes pregnant, the birth and growth of their children, and how their marriage grows over time as well.

Chris Gearhart, a missionary with Family Life in Arkansas, grew up in this area and wanted to see the film shown in his hometown.

Like Arrows will be shown on Tuesday, May 1, at the DuBois AMC Classic Theater at 7 p.m.

It will also be shown in Clarion on May 1 and 3, with showtimes at 7 p.m.

The film was created as part of Family Life Ministries, a nationwide program that encourages healthy marriages and parenting through the teachings of the Bible.
