  • How to Think and Grow Like an Entrepreneur with Antoni Tzavelas

Are you looking for helpful tips on becoming a better entrepreneur? In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua discusses this topic with Antoni Tzavelas. You will hear a wide variety of tips and strategies in this episode, including the following:

    • Having a learning mindset is absolutely critical for success as an entrepreneur. It’s also critical even if you aren’t starting your own company. Being a lifelong learner, you’ll be able to identify new opportunities and overcome stubborn obstacles in your career path.
    • Transitioning between industries isn’t impossible. Even if you don’t come from a traditional background, you can make the tradition so long as you are really passionate about what it is.
    • Failure is learning in disguise. Even though it may hurt at the moment, failure is inevitable if you are an entrepreneur. The key is taking those failures and learning from them as you pursue your goals.
    • On your entrepreneurial journey, it is important to be kind to yourself. All too often, it is easy to be too harsh or critical if your expectations aren’t meeting reality.
    • If you really want to grow your business, you need to put in the time. The silver lining is that through consistent hard work, you may be able to separate yourself from competitors.
    • This is a great conversation for entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs alike. Ultimately, the insights and lessons discussed can help you get much closer to accomplishing your goals.

Antoni Tzavelas is a technical instructor and executive coach. He helps his clients develop important skills like executive coaching, speaking, and training. He is also the LiveStream host of the “Bowtie Certified” show. Before his current work as a technical instructor and executive coach, Antoni was a fashion designer and had run his company for over one decade.

    • Burning Out Won't Get You There with Davida Ginter

In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua discusses burnout with Davida Ginter. Some insights that you’ll hear in this conversation include the following:

      • Burnout means many different things. It can be everything from feeling weeks upon weeks of workplace stress to spending too much time in front of screens. Recognize that there is not a narrow definition of burnout and that you may, in fact, be experiencing burnout right now.
      • While many people think that burning out is a sign of weakness, nothing could be further from the truth. Like batteries, human beings need to be recharged and rejuvenated. Keep this in mind if you are feeling any anxiety or shame about feeling burnt out.
      • Retreat vacations are nice, but they are not the core solution to the core problem of burnout. Burnout prevention forces us to reexamine our routines and then reprioritize.
      • It’s critical to listen to the signs of burnout. Even if you feel like you are only experiencing mild symptoms, it is important to take action today. Doing so will help prevent even more stress and anxiety in the future.
      • Workload isn’t the first cause of burnout. It can be many different things related to your professional and personal lives. Don’t rule anything out.
      • This is a fantastic conversation for all of us. Especially in these unusual times, it is critical to monitor burnout in both yourself and your friends, family, and colleagues. The insights in this conversation can help you get much better at detecting the signs.

Davida Ginter describes herself as a change-maker. She is the co-founder and CEO of Enkindle Global, which is an international organization dedicated to supporting leaders and organizations in burnout prevention and building emotional resistance. Davida is also the author of a book titled Burning Out Won’t Get You There. Before that, she was the founder and processes facilitator of an organization called Be The Change.

      • Remote Sales For Life with Gino Donati

Looking for a way to get more work-life balance while maintaining your sales job? In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua sits down with Gino Donati to discuss remote sales for life. Some of the many insights that you’ll gather in this episode include:

        • If you are an inside salesperson, it is almost irrelevant where you work. If you have the same tool stack and training as your colleagues that are located in the office, you can be an efficient fully-remote salesperson.
        • Businesses should create a culture that embraces fully-remote sales teams. Yes, it is easier said than done to design any type of culture. That being said, putting in the time and effort to create a remote sales culture provides many financial and non-financial benefits.
        • It is important to break down all the ways that communication barriers are broken. Identifying and fixing these gaps ensures that your sales, marketing, and development teams can efficiently collaborate.
        • Recognize that your LinkedIn page is yours. LinkedIn can be a fantastic way to not only build your personal brand, but connect with potential clients and customers.
        • Detailed feedback is important for a remote sales culture. Whether you are a manager or a salesperson, embrace feedback in your work.
        • This is a great conversation for salespeople, managers, entrepreneurs, and those who are looking for a more flexible work-life balance. Enjoy the discussion!

Gino Donati has been involved in tech sales for around 15 years. That said, he started becoming a remote sales employee about five years ago, when a private equity firm moved Gino to Argentina. Gino is also the co-founder of SDReady, which is a free Slack community focused on helping individuals start a career in technology.

        • How The Radical CPA got 600K followers on LinkedIn with Jody Padar

In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua sits down with Jody Padar. Ruben and Jody discuss Jody’s journey on LinkedIn and how she has amassed a huge following as “the Radical CPA.” Insights shared in this episode include the following:

          • Seemingly “boring” topics or domains can attract huge audiences. While accounting on the surface may not seem like the most exciting field, Jody’s work shows that there is a large audience for it. Therefore, don’t let your “boring” field get in the way of leveraging social media to grow your business.
          • Any type of business should anticipate new technological trends. Jody foresaw the rise of cloud computing and now believes that artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly important for CPA firms. Anticipating these trends can help you stay ahead of the curve and deliver more value to your customers.
          • You must know your numbers. While it may seem boring or intimidating to you, knowing the numbers of your business can help you develop a better plan for business growth.
          • Forecasts are also excellent tools for any business. They are connected to your P&L and balance sheet and can help you anticipate obstacles and opportunities ahead.
          • Data feeds can be helpful, but you need to verify that data. Starting with good data means that you will get the most out of these helpful resources.
          • Ultimately, this is a great conversation for business owners, entrepreneurs, managers, and those looking to learn more about accounting or entrepreneurship. We hope you enjoy the conversation!

          • You Can't Automate Personality with Chris Lusk

In this episode of Connection Loop, Dubb founder Ruben Dua sits down with Chris Lusk. Chris and Ruben share their thoughts on automation and how you can properly leverage automation in social media and your business. Some of the insights and ideas that you’ll hear in this episode include:

            • While you can automate certain menial tasks, you cannot automate connections. You can’t automate things like empathy and genuineness. Because of this, you should not only avoid doing so, but embrace your personality and authenticity when trying to connect with others.
            • Sometimes, it is better to target fewer prospects than more prospects. By targeting fewer prospects, you can add a personalized touch to your communications. You can add more meaningful things in your correspondence, thereby increasing your chances of making the sale or conversion.
            • There is nothing stopping you from using an automation program to find LinkedIn connections, but you should do so strategically. Don’t try to send the same message to thousands of people en masse. Instead, at least leverage some filtering tools to see their interests and recent activity on LinkedIn.
            • One personalized message can replace thousands (or even tens of thousands) of cold emails. Cold email open and conversion rates are incredibly low, while sending a LinkedIn connection request and personalized video can substantially improve your conversion rate.
            • When reaching out to large companies, it is often better to not pitch the CEO. Instead of that, try to find a decisionmaker that is a few rungs down the ladder. Doing this, you’ll have a better chance of winning a new account.
            • This is a great conversation for entrepreneurs, marketers, salespeople, and anyone hoping to understand how to properly leverage automation. Enjoy the conversation!

Chris Lusk currently works for Codelitt, where he manages partnerships for the company. Codelitt is a company of custom software developers that helps large corporations build human-centered solutions for complex problems. Ultimately, Chris and his colleagues help Fortune 500 organizations build with the speed, technology, and innovation of a startup. Chris has been in the sales space for about 20 years, so he has seen life both before and during the rise of automation.

            • What is Transformational Branding with Toni Bubb

In this episode of Connection Loop, join us as we discuss the art of transformational branding with Toni Bubb. Sitting down with Dubb founder Ruben Dua, Toni shared many different insights on transformational branding, including the following:

              • When it comes down to developing a personal brand or a brand for your business, you need to know what your core values are. You must also know your mission and your vision for yourself. This is where spiritual tools can be especially helpful.
              • You can’t help someone unless you have done the work yourself. You must go through the pain and be a brave soul to make a difference in someone’s life. Many people are afraid to do this, but if you can, you can have a huge impact.
              • Creating and distributing free content is an excellent way to build trust with your audience. This is especially true if you use video, as your audience can get a feeling about you and sense your energy.
              • It is extremely helpful to write down your mission statement and have five trusted people provide their comments. Having this outside perspective can unlock some unique insights that you would have never obtained.
              • When navigating the stresses of business life or working with a team, it’s critical to focus on your personal development first. You can’t handle these stresses with grace or ease unless you do this personal work.
              • Ultimately, this is a fantastic conversation if you are interested in personal or corporate branding. But more than that, Toni has some great insights on how you can get the most out of life and achieve your personal and professional goals.

Toni Bubb is a self-described “professional lover of life.” She is a brand strategist and coach who helps her clients with things like branding, personal development, and leveraging spiritual tools. Most of her clients are entrepreneurs, but Toni is also happy to work with change-makers, thought leaders, and industry experts who are looking to take their brands to the next level. At her core, Toni loves creativity, wellness, and spirituality.

In this episode of Connection Loop, we are going to take a deep dive into how to leverage podcasting for PR, branding, and sales. Dubb founder Ruben Dua sparks with Jeremy Ryan Slate about the power of podcasting, exchanging awesome insights like the following:

                  • As a podcaster or would-be podcaster, the big thing that you should be paying attention to is using your podcast to promote something else that you’re already doing. For instance, if you are looking to build brand awareness or find new prospects for your business, you can use a podcast to get you there.
                  • Subscriptions and reviews are really important to get your podcasts known. Not only do they give you credibility when other potential listeners are looking at your show, but you could even appear on the Apple Podcasts “New and Noteworthy” list.
                  • Follow-up is critical to getting awesome guests on your podcast. Even though you may get a no in the beginning, following-up may turn that no into a yes.
                  • Jeremy has a running spreadsheet that helps him stay organized throughout the production process. For instance, it has the episode title and everything that his team needs to produce the episode.
                  • Failure is inevitable when creating and producing a new podcast. The important part, however, is to stick with it. Keep running experiments and listen to your listeners. Your hard work will pay off.
                  • Ultimately, this discussion is great for podcasters and would-be podcasters. Whether you want your podcast to accelerate business sales or simply create brand awareness in your sector or industry, you’ll definitely want to implement Jeremy’s insights.

Jeremy Ryan Slate is the host of a podcast called Create Your Own Life. • Deliberately working on self-healing can help you avoid years of suffering and struggle. In other words, confronting our problems head-on, while uncomfortable, can accelerate us toward our goals.
                      • We need to reframe mental health. While mental health still has some stigma attached to it, reframing mental health is just another part of self-development.
                      • Becoming authentic is how your business is going to grow. By doing so, you can develop closer connections with prospects and customers.
                      • You can think of the art of joy as living in a blissful state.
                      • Your gut feeling can help you make some of the biggest decisions in your life (like starting your own company).
                      • This episode is great for listeners that are looking to overcome mental barriers in their lives. Whatever those mental barriers are, you can bank on self-healing and the art of joy to help you overcome them.
