Connor MacIvor gave AI a simple property comparison. It got the math right and still got part of the table wrong. That is the theme of this episode: a result can look organized and still be wrong, so you test it.

Four quick lessons:

1. The house next door may be the wrong comparison. A neighbor with everything on one floor and room for a pool may matter more to a particular buyer than the distance between front doors. Compare the choice a buyer is making: layout, condition, outdoor space and recurring costs.

2. AI got the math right and the table wrong. Fictional homes: A pays $1,200 a year in association dues, B pays $300 a quarter, C's dues were never supplied. Monthly, A and B are both $100 and C is unknown, because a blank field doesn't mean zero. The AI got the monthly math right, then marked A and B as missing information even though the amounts were right there in the input. Check the arithmetic and every label.

3. Asking prices fell and sold prices rose. Both can be true. Realtor.com put the September 2026 national median asking price at $419,250, down 1.4% from a year earlier. NAR reported an August 2026 median existing-home sale price of $429,100, up 1.6%. Different months, different groups of homes. You can't subtract them and announce what buyers negotiated.

4. Test the handoff before you trust an AI voice. Ask about a service you offer, then something outside what you approved, then ask for a person. A message in a dashboard doesn't mean anyone saw it. A preferred time isn't a booked appointment.

"The AI did it." Somebody selected the system. Somebody approved its access. Somebody decided what success meant. So who answers when it goes wrong?

Connor MacIvor builds AI automations for businesses and wants these tools to work. He also wants someone asking the uncomfortable questions before a family, a customer or an employee pays for an assumption nobody checked.

The framework for the whole episode, four questions for any AI claim:

• Who is making the claim?
• What do they want?
• What evidence are they showing?
• How can we verify it independently?

Ask it of a consultant, a company, a politician, a person selling a course on surviving AI. And ask it of Connor.

In this episode:

• Work and jobs. "Just learn AI" is not a plan. Learn what, for which job, who pays for the training, and how does the rent get paid between the old paycheck and the new one?
• The Transition Moonshot. Paid time to learn, a fair shot at available roles, real support when a position goes away, and results you can measure: did people get hired, stay employed, and keep earning?
• Scams. A familiar voice can be imitated. Fear, urgency and isolation together deserve a pause. Call back on a number you already trust.
• Permissions. What can the app read, change or send as you? Drafting an email and sending one are different powers.
• Convincing wrong answers. Good spelling is not accuracy. A second chatbot agreeing is not verification.
• Who can stop it. A safety policy that disappears at the first deadline is not much comfort.

Q: What is the one question every business should answer before deploying AI?
A: How much damage can it do before I notice, and who has the authority to shut it down?

Q: What does "no human left behind" mean in practice?
A: A transition plan as serious as the investment in the technology, judged by concrete results for the people affected.

Your AI answered the phone. Great. Where did the customer's information go, who owns the follow-up, and is the appointment actually on the calendar?

TL;DR: A pleasant AI conversation followed by a missing task is just a customer problem with a nicer soundtrack. Before you buy AI voice for your business, decide what a properly handled call is supposed to produce, then demand the receipt: the record in your CRM, the confirmed booking, the owner of the follow-up, and an alert someone actually sees when something fails.

• A contractor: a leaking sink call becomes a usable service request with a confirmed address and callback number, checked against the service area. No diagnosing, no promising a truck in 20 minutes.
