A video has gone viral in which a parent is shown refusing to buy her son a pair of Anthony Edwards' signature sneaker because he "doesn't take care of his kids." She prefers that he choose either Steph Curry or Kobe Bryant sneakers because they care(d) for their daughters. We give our thoughts on this. Also, Amber Rose recently chatted with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay and gave her thoughts on her ex Kanye West's preference for his women dressing naked in public, saying that he likes it when his woman is desired by other men. Do you think she's right? Plus, Charles Barkley unloaded on his disdain for ESPN, particularly Kendrick Perkins, saying that ESPN ignores spotlighting high-achieving teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder because they'd rather talk about the Lakers and the Warriors all the time. Is ESPN solely in the ratings business? Is this good for sports media? Does Charles have a point? We discuss. We also get into Dr. Umar Johnson's deadbeat claims after his alleged daughter aired him out for ignoring her. Who do you believe in this, and does a deadbeat label diminish Umar's advocacy; an NYPD detective who is at the center of controversy because of her appearance as a stripper in a hip-hop video, and Issa Rae's demands that Hollywood respect Black television more. Let's go!
As Yasiin Bey, AKA Mos Def, nears a musical comeback, he has unmuted to lament the state of the music industry, including streaming services, calling it out for exploitation because of how little artists receive for their work while the power structure reaps so much of the financial benefit. He says you start out passionate and an idealist before becoming disillusioned. Is he right, and is their a fix to the problem? Plus, you know we had to chime in on LeBron James' comments about the face of the NBA. He questions why a player would want such a distinction when the game is always criticized. Is he right? Elsewhere, DJ Akademiks made some interesting comments about female rappers, saying that music is not at the forefront for them because they can always cash in on sex and influencer status. Is this true? We also talk about Omarion's take on monogamy, Rick Ross calling Freeway Ricky Ross an informant after the former had some choice words for him, and Future's denial of a relationship with an IG model named Gorgeous Doll.
Rihanna recently shared some interesting thoughts on how she feels about her past music, saying that her last album, Anti, is the only album in her catalog that she can listen to without feeling shame and comparing it to listening to your voice on a voicemail. What do you make of Rihanna’s thoughts? Are you ashamed of some of your previous work? If so, why? Also, Ne-Yo is being called out in a major way by his ex and mother of his two sons for parading his polyamorous lifestyle around their children, and she isn’t here for it. She also called him out for misusing the poly label for what is otherwise an open relationship with no boundaries or exclusivity. Does she have a point? Plus, T-Pain is selling his publishing catalog and select masters to HarbourView Equity Partners for an as-yet undisclosed amount, following behind the likes of Nelly and Wiz Khalifa. Is T-Pain’s catalog sale a good or bad thing? We also discuss reaction to ex-NFL wide receiver Steve Smith’s cheating scandal, Asian Doll and Kash Doll’s feud, and Cam’ron’s reaction to Chad Ochocinco getting too personal with Stephen A. Smith.
Quickly rising up the ranks as friend of the channel, GloRilla has recently been speculated to have gotten BBL surgery, and she is here to set the record straight on the kind of “shots” she has indeed received. What do you think of what she had to say? Also, Stephen A. Smith has addressed whether he would ever run for President, and his response is what you’d expect; but is it such a crazy idea? Plus, we give our thoughts on this past weekend’s NBA All-Star weekend. What grade do you give it? We also get into updates on the Dank Demoss story as she proves she can fit in an SUV, Coi Leray speaking on discipline that a man should have in a relationship - this of course coming after she seemingly accused the father of her unborn child, Trippie Redd, of cheating on her - and Tyla speaking on identifying as both Black and Coloured.
GloRilla is dealing with financial fallout from the Super Bowl, saying that she lost a lot of money betting on the game. Her plan to recoup? Selling ass! Surely she is joking, but the comment is interesting nonetheless. Elsewhere, Usher is providing some illumination on his tour and how he feeds cherries to women in the crowd. He explains that his intent is never to break up homes, which is interesting considering the controversy that it has caused with people like Keke Palmer, most famously. Is Usher an innocent bystander when it comes to his seductive fruits? Plus, NBA player Dennis Schröder made some interesting comments after being traded at the trade deadline, equating the NBA trade deadline to modern slavery. Does his logic make sense? We also get into Big Meech's response to being trolled by 50 Cent, Serena Williams explaining her decision to crip walk at the Super Bowl half time show, and Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison receiving death threats as more fallout from the Luca Doncic trade ensues.
Kanye West was the subject of plenty of Grammy Awards chatter when he showed up at the red carpet with his wife, Bianca Censori, who put the shear dress trend to shame by wearing an outfit that makes it look like she’s wearing nothing at all. What’s more, they left the event after the red carpet, clearly a flex move. A lot of folks are voicing their displeasure with Censori’s outfit. Is the outrage justified? Speaking of Kanye West, many people are awaiting the release of his next album. In anticipation, he has stated his enthusiasm for AI and that he is using AI to help create the album. We give our thoughts on this. Plus, we discuss ASAP Rocky requesting that the N-word not be used in full during his trial. We also get into Drake’s father not stressing Kendrick’s Grammys, Marcus Jordan, son of Michael Jordan, being arrested on DUI and cocaine charges, and Luka Doncic being traded to the Lakers.
We’re back with a fresh stream, and this week we kick it and discuss Snoop Dogg taking a similar path to Nelly, seemingly doubling down on his decision to perform at Trump’s Crypto Ball and letting everyone know that the backlash isn’t bothering him. Should we heed Snoop’s words? We also discuss Brittany Renner, who has made the transition from being an industry woman to being a devout woman of God, discussing her new life and how much happier she is now. Are you buying what she’s selling? Plus, LeBron James’ manager, Maverick Carter, is said to be conceptualizing a potential rival to the NBA in a new international basketball league. Does this potential concept make sense, can you create a rival to the NBA, and what does this symbolize, if anything? We also give our takes on DJ Akademiks being banned from Twitch due to his grooming controversy, criticism of Sexyy Red’s AI-generated photo of her and Dr. Martin Luther King, and plus-sized Detroit influencer and rapper Dania Blending trending for suing Lyft for weight discrimination because a driver refused giving her service because of her weight, citing vehicle size and tire wear-and-tear. Is her claim legit? Join us for a great stream!
After accepting an invitation to perform at the Crypto Ball, an event honoring Donald Trump’s inauguration, Nelly is getting dragged all over the place. From getting called an idiot by Amanda Seales to even Ashanti fans shutting fan pages on Instagram down, Nelly opting to perform at this event is being met with a lot of anger. Nelly is doubling down, saying it’s about respecting the office for him, but is the backlash too severe? Also, we haven’t touched much on Drake’s UMG lawsuit, but many are suspecting that such a move is setting a bad precedent with respect to creative freedom in music. Is Drake potentially setting a bad trend when it comes to how to react to the result of a beef? We give our takes. Plus, Cam Newton is expressing feelings over the way his life has changed since he no longer brings in NFL checks, saying he feels some type of way over not being able to provide for his 8 kids the way he used to and that he isn’t Superman anymore, but merely a man. What do you make of Cam’s comments? We also touch on the killing of Pennsylvania high school basketball standout Noah Scurry, who was also a drill rapper and released a diss rack the day before he was killed, Busta Rhymes turning himself in after assaulting his assistant, and a flight attendant who was fired from Alaska Airlines after posting a video of her twerking on a plane.
The world of culture, sports and society has a lot on the books for the show this week. We will get into interesting comments made by acclaimed actor Djimon Hounsou, who is lamenting struggling financially as an actor despite being nominated for Academy Awards and a Golden Globe. He blames it on systemic racism, but is there more to what he is going through? We will also discuss Meta rolling back its DEI policies in an effort to move more towards the center and less exclusionary, in its eyes, when it comes to hiring practices. More and more corporations are following suit. Is this a sign of things to come? Third, we touch on Zion Williamson being suspended by the New Orleans Pelicans for detrimental conduct such as being late to practices and a team flight. Another chapter in the book of Zion's thus far disappointing career when juxtaposed to his expectations, can Zion ever get right? We also provide takes on Wack 100 calling out DJ Akademiks for telling LeBron James' personal business, adult film star Bonnie Blue claiming a world record for sleeping with over 1,000 men in 12 hours, and Jason Whitlock responding to Cam Newton who claims that Whitlock's critique of Joy Taylor is out-of-place because he is "not that guy." Join us for what's sure to be a great show!
This week, we're getting right into our thoughts on the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Fox Corporation by former Fox Sports hairstylist Noushin Faraji, alleging that Joy Taylor leveraged sexual relationships with a high-ranking executive as well as on-air personality Emmanuel Acho to advance her career. Furthermore, she is alleged to have told Faraji to get over it after Faraji confided in her over inappropriate offers of money for sex from Skip Bayless; AND, Taylor is alleged to have told Faraji that she plans to use the relationship with the executive as a leverage play to claim he forced himself onto her once he was no longer useful to her. There are so many layers to this, and we're here for all of it. We also discuss Lupe Fiasco joining Johns Hopkins University's Peabody Institute as a visiting professor for its four-year degree hip-hop program, as well as Draya Michele unmuting to site Mariah Carey's alleged relationship with Anderson Paak as an example of a double standard in how folks hate on her relationship with Jalen Green but seem to have no problem with Carey's relationship with Paak despite the age gap between both pairings being the same. Does she have a point? We also discuss harsh words Gilbert Arenas had for Pat Riley amid the Jimmy Butler debacle, Waka Flocka "exposing" our propensity for fake news, and hip-hop journalist Elliot Wilson's internet back-and-forth with Cam'ron and Mase over the merits of non-journalists in the media and reporting space.
