Not once, not twice, but three times people left at the budding Roanoke Colony disappeared mysteriously. Was it attacks from the native populations or perhaps from their rival colonizers, the Spanish? What remained at Roanoke was practically nothing, save for a skeleton and some strange writing on trees. Between the privateering, senseless attacks against the native populations, and terrifying storms, the investigations into the lost colony were delayed decades...and were never really completed at the time. Now, historians have found next to no archaelogical evidence pointing to the end of the colony. So...what happened?

On top of that, she secretly recorded her encounters. Was it the proposed tell-all that lead to her demise? Why didn't the police investigate the more obvious characters...and why did the regular gossip magazines ignore her brutal murder entirely? Emir is afraid of hot dogs and late-night mesothelioma commercials. Yes, we are still having audio issues. Tis the plight of the broke college podcaster. You could be upset about it, like us, or you could choose to see it as a glitch in the matrix...perhaps a ghost in the machine, or even a real ghost. Boo! To the real point of this description, this episode is about the loneliest of lonelies, Dr. Carl Tanzler. Was he a necrophiliac? Maybe, but that's about the only part of the story that is contested. What we do know is that he was obsessed with a dying young girl, built her a mausoleum of which he had exclusive access once she passed, then dug up her body and made her into a human doll. There's also something in here about spaceships and the life-giving force that apparently looms just outside Earth's atmosphere. This episode is a trip, folks. It's got dolphins, drugs, and an inter-species love story for the ages.  Not to mention Jeff Bridges, Carl Sagan, and maybe the faint mention of aliens. Hey, it was the sixties. It feels weird titling this episode as such, because it doesn't really encompass what happened here and any true title would be way too long. Some of our considerations before sticking with our generic one were as follows: Lovatt in the Sea with Dolphins, Drugs and Dolphins in the Caribbean, Dr. John Lilly, or How I Learned to Take LSD and Teach Dolphins English, Free Willy 5: XXX,  Laboratory of the Horny Dolphins, and Teaching Dolphins English, and other experiments that definitely should not have happened.  See, they get a little long-winded. In this (delayed) episode, Emir experiences a glitch in the system while teaching us about the great Australian emu war. When veteran farmers were faced with the hungry plight of emu tearing apart their crops, they turned to the Australian military to handle the problem for them.
