Constructing the Clubhouse

Fil Varney is the host of Sunday Funday at the Comedy Clubhouse, but this week he's better known as Matt and John's guest.

Fil Varney is from Utah in the U.S., and has spent the better part of his life trying to pretend he’s from anywhere other than Utah in the U.S., which is hard to do when you look that much like Mitt Romney. Fil’s has been living and performing in Barcelona for 9 months, and has found his niche running the open mic show at the Comedy Clubhouse.

John has developed a taste for kicking patrons out of the club (is the club a magnet for these people?), and a new bartender started working at the bar without prior consent.

Kyla Cobbler, bartender extraordinnaire and internet celeb, has left the Comedy Clubhouse for greener pastures. She's leaves behind an unfillable hole, and she takes with her an unfilled hole. She returns to discuss what she's been up to, and shows us that she'll be no stranger to the Clubhouse going forward.

Spiraling from the loss, Matt and John are trying out new bartenders and new shows.

Abi Mohanty joins Matt and John to discuss her dating prospects, why Berlin is a great place to start comedy, and doing 100 shows in her first year as a stand up. The Comedy Clubhouse has been selling out shows! John and Matt discuss the state of shows, why not advertising is working, and what they're looking for in a bartender (hint: it's not themselves).

Abi is a Berlin based comedian. Fairly new to the scene, Abi's humor is dry and dark. Born in India, she didn't go far from the stereotype of being a software developer. While that fills her pockets, comedy fills the void in her heart.

Abi can be found on Instagram as @avipshahaha.

Irish comedian Mike Rice joins John and Matt to discuss kicking out people who were never in, the merits of solo touring, and get to the bottom eurotours.

Jamie is a bad person who screws up the audio on stage (but the homosapiens song is pretty good), Matt makes an IRL Instagram faux pas, and John fixes the Saturday night with a pizza pun.

You can find Mike Rice on his website.

The Comedy Clubhouse closed last week after the coronavirus got Matt and this week's guest, podcast producer Zak Knudsen. Matt and Zak discuss their experiences, and John talks about going to Ibiza to perform at Pike's.

Instagram phenom, influencer, bartender, and now stand-up comedian Kyla Cobbler joins Matt and John to discuss writing for Irish television and dicks on stage. Plus, Matt gets a hat!

You can find Kyla on Instagram as @kylacobbler, or buy her a coffe on her Ko-Fi page.

The bar isn't getting shut down! Probably. At least, not in the next three months. Possibly. It kinda depends on who has €25 million.

Then Kobe joins John and Matt to discuss God, first sexual experiences, parents as fans, parents with OnlyFans, and being successful at everything he touches.

Marnie Manning joins Matt and John to discuss doing comedy shows in two both English and Spanish, the hot goss in the Spanish scene (or lack thereof), and her corporate TV gig.

Marnie Manning is an energetic comedian and performer from Boulder, Colorado that tells jokes weekly in venues around Barcelona. Marnie is the host of @feismocool in English as well as the Thursday show @thecomedyclubhousebcn.
