Marshal Gillen is the created of Top Paid Speaker, world's #1 speaker training program that has generated $125M+ in client results. His expertise is in helping people share their message with others and showing them how to make money by speaking about the things they know.
After being raised blue collar and being in some of the darkest movements of his life, Marshal is here to inspire others through his message and helping them convert their mess into their message.
I had to reshare this episode from mid 2023 because it's very important to make solid connections in the construction industry since most of our projects come from word of mouth.
I believe there's a correct and incorrect way to build connections in the industry. There's also small and big events all around town and it's difficult to figure out which of these events would be most beneficial. I've been to events of all sizes with people from various different industries and I've seen my fair share of the differences.
I really like the small intimate events because you can get more personal to everyone. Whether these are $20 10-person events hosted by a small level entrepreneur or a $20,000 10-person event hosted by one of the biggest names in the industry, the smaller the event the better the connections you can make.

I get it, you value the opinion of your people when you do things. You want to make them proud and you want to make sure you're doing the right things for them. Sometimes the right thing for them is a long term play that only you can see visualy so you'll get hate and criticism for it. You must draw a fine line where you don't give a fuck what people think about what you do, that's if you truly belive in your mission.
The game is difficult on it's own but adding to it other people's opinion of what you're trying to do makes it much more difficult. Most of the closest people to you with talk shit to you or try to unmotivate you to start and build this business that you have a vision for. The people you think that will support you will probably be the last ones to support you and other people you'll meet along the journey that are strangers wil be the first ones to get in line to support you. This isn't always the case though.

A little throwback to one of my favorite episodes of Construction Royalty. It's one of my favorite because personal development is something that overlooked and that rarely anyone takes serious. It's also the most important part of the trades. Enjoy!
Personal Development in the trades is one of the most underrated things in the industry. 95% of the peoplein the construction industry don't focus on this and we believe it's a huge issue that needs to be addressed.
The reason we believe this is because working inside of the construction industry is one of the toughest and most difficult jobs you can have that will drain your body physically over time. If you don't take of your mental and physical health, then the job will become more difficult over time. I grew up in the indutry since I was 10 years old and I've seen this play out in the long run for many people and it isn't pretty.
Personal devolopment includes: reading books, daily stretching, lifting weights, meditation, journaling, drinking plenty of water daily, limiting alcohol and smoking and whatever else you think will help you not just out in the field but in life in general.
Listen to get other ideas on improving your life!

Renovations is one of the most confusing projects to work on, but it's also one of the most rewarding when the finished product is complete. When you first start a renovation, everything seems pretty straight forward until you tear down the walls and look inside and see all the shit other constractors made in the past!
In this episode we talk about the struggles we've come accross on some of our projects, what we do when we have unforseen issue pop-up the day of the project, how to minimize unforseen issues, and much more!
