Contagion Effect

France Mahabub joined us this week on the Contagion Effect. France served 18 years in the US Marine Corp where he was medically retired due to a previous injury from an IED attack. France shared his early life where his mom moved the family from Trinidad to New York, to his multiple deployments while in the Marines. He eventually moved to recruiting within the Marines where he found his niche. After retiring he started the Atlas Rising Initiative where they supported veterans transitioning from military life to civilian life. They also help with finding all the programs available to vets and dealing with mental health. His newest endeavor being the Atlas Rising Initiative Podcast. Go check it out at the linktree link below.

This week we spoke with Bourbon Battle Buddies.  A streaming show doing big things for Veterans.   We spoke with Jonathan Crochet an US ARMY veteran and Audry McHugh an US NAVY veteran. We opened up with learning about their early lives and where the decision came to join the military.  Both Jonathan and Audry had family that were in the service which helped guide them that direction.  Also, learned a little bit about what they did while in and any deployments.

Audry took us through the creation of her foundation, the Amazonian Warrior Foundation and why it was created.  Not going to share that story here, you just have to watch/listen to understand.  This foundation advocates for veterans in so many ways.  Go check out their site below.

Jonathan told us a bit about The People's Patriot Project.  This organization is supporting both veterans and first responders.  Their mission is to serve those who serve.  Please also go check out their website below.

We ended with the name above...  B3 otherwise known as Bourbon Battle Buddies.  Audry and Jonathan created this due to their love of Bourbon and passion for their fellow veterans.  This will be a show where they talk about their favorite Bourbon's along with the struggles that veterans face.  We are not experts or really even novices with Bourbon, but these two will teach you so much about the world of Bourbon!

Thank you for your service and sharing your stories Audry and Jonathan.

In this episode we had the opportunity to speak to Rob Young a Retired SUSD Officer and survivor of the January 17, 1989 Cleveland Elementary School shooting in Stockton, Ca.  Rob shared the details of that horrific day as a 1st grader on the playground, not fully understanding what was happening.  Shared how both him and his friend showed each other their bullet wounds in the middle of all the craziness.

Rob, had a dream even before the school shooting to be in Law Enforcement, and didn't let what happened deter him from that dream.  So he went back to work in the School District where he grew up.  Rob also shared his experience in another event that just recently happened at a school in Stockton where a female student lost her life.  A snippet you need to hear to see how his life came full circle.

With all that happened, Rob has a positive attitude and has used his story to share his thoughts around guns and gun violence.  Even making a trip to Capitol Hill to speak and share his story.

Rob tells his story so well, give this a listen and here a point of view you may not expect.

Thank you for sharing your story Rob!

On the evening of Wednesday 4/19, a Facebook post was shared by Jason Steiner and Herostock.  This post was written by a Veteran who started it with ... Today I am part of the 22.  He went on to say how much he loved his wife, family, and friends.  Yet, he couldn't escape the darkness.  Sadly, he took his life after this post.

We NEEDED to talk about this and invited Jason Steiner, Tom Ettinger, and France Mahabub all veterans who have seen this all too often.  France, dealing with his brother (a veteran) taking his life as well.

These men shared some of the why's behind someone can show happiness on the outside, yet have so many demons chasing them. We also discussed how as a community working around veterans we can continue to fight this and bring the number to ZERO.

We would also like to thank all the amazing followers that interacted with us during the show.  there was some great comments and this conversation HAD to happen.  Thank you!

Thank you to Jason, Tom, and France for joining us and sharing their insight.

Please follow each of their organizations.

What a great story teller, "THE" Dadbod Veteran joined us this week.  We had the opportunity to learn more about the man that tells stories on TikTok, YouTube and other Social Media platforms. He shared his early life, and the decision to join the Navy right out of High School. We learned about his career in the Navy, including how he was on the water when 9/11 happened and how they protected New York after the attacks.  Learned about his move to civilian life, and what that transition looked like.

We moved on to learning how "THE" Dadbod Veteran came to life, and the story behind the stories. We shared some of our favorite videos of his, to show the work and effort to make quality content.

As a show, we never like sharing too much here, because we want our guests stories to speak for themselves.  This is a show you don't want to miss.

Thank you "THE" Dadbod Veteran for your service, and thank you for joining our show.

Please go follow him on all his channels and check out his gear(We highly suggest doing a Cameo):

If you want to hear about a Marine who went through some life changing experiences, you need to listen to Steven Stewart's story.  Steven shared some stories around his two tours in Iraq and how they ultimately led to these changes.  We don't want to share too much, you have to hear it from Steven.  What's great though, is to hear the attitude and belief system that he has now and how positive he is.

Thank you for your service Steven and joining us to share your story.
