This week, we discuss the recent passing of Akira Toriyama and the legacy of his work, why Return to Grace would make a great episode of Star Trek rather than a game (spoilers about the ending at around the 42 minute mark), and David gives a brief Helldivers 2 update.

This week, we discuss how Persona 3 Reload’s modernizations make the game way too easy, how Balatro brings the good video game drugs, and how Tekken 8 finally stopped taking itself so dang seriously.

We’ve got new games to talk about this week! This episode, Susan talks about how Silent Hill: The Short Message completely whiffs its handling of its themes, Anthony talks about how Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown plays great but is missing something to make it special, and David digs into the non-legally-actionable Sujimon battles and Dondoko Island found in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

Note: There’s some heavy discussion around the new Silent Hill in regards to self-harm and suicidal ideation, just wanted to put a warning out there in case you wanted to skip it. Also, we don’t spoil a ton from the new Like a Dragon game but we did bring up one of the big spoilers surrounding Ichiban’s backstory from the last one to set table stakes for the story in the new one.

This week, we’re all kinda waiting for the next big thing to drop so we’ve been poking around the ol’ backlogs to find games to play. Anthony talks about how loading games onto his new Polymega feels like video game scrapbooking, Susan’s enjoying the scrappy Bioshock-esque indie game Close to the Sun, and David’s been wrapped up in Mistwalker’s cult classic Lost Odyssey.

This week, we let our hair down a bit to stream some video games while talking about some of our favorite experiences from 2023. Happy new year! (There are some spoilers throughout when discussing many of these games, so fair warning.)

This week is a tale of two robots, as David recounts his time with the mind-melting Talos Principle 2 and Susan discusses buying mustache wax stores in Steamworld Build. Susan also talks about her husband’s new obsession with the driving sim Snowrunner.

Apologies for the audio issues this week, there are some bit of silence from where we had some audio drop out.

Also, some spoilers this week – we discuss the full plot of the first Talos Principle game to explain how it ties into the sequel up front, and reveal one of the big mysteries in the sequel at around the 30 minute mark. Skip a head a bit if you want to avoid those.

This week, we talk about how the brilliance of the original Super Mario RPG shines through in the remake, falling back in love with Persona 5’s characters all over again in Persona 5 Tactica, and break in the new Steam Deck OLED with a few fun indie games worth checking out.

This week, we share our divisive thoughts on Alan Wake 2 and wonder why the Like a Dragon series can’t seem to let Kiryu go after multiple attempts at sending him off.

We talk around spoilers as much as we can in this one, but it’s pretty difficult given the nature of discussion in this episode. However, there’s a particular spot at 59 minutes in where we spoil a specific story beat in Alan Wake 2 that I want to call out, so feel free to skip ahead a few minutes to around 1:02:00.
