This week PlayStation upended Xbox's reveal of the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition console with an exclusive interview with Wired where Mark Cerny revealed a good amount of information for Sony's next-generation console. The guys discuss why PlayStation announced information on the PlayStation 5 this way and what the launch price may be. In quickie news they talk about April's Inside Xbox news as well as the reveal of Respawn's Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order that took place at 2019's Star Wars Celebration in Chicago last week.
This week Jerrad and Jordan have a nice fireside groove in Dominic's absence. The guys start by talking about their continued adventures in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Jordan's initial impressions of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. In news the guys mention Sekiro's sales success as well as PSN name changes finally going live. They close out by discussing their wishlist and dreams for the rumored Nintendo Switch Pro model coming in 2019.
This week we a possibly the second coming of the 2018 Walmart Canada leak by way of Best Buy. The guys discuss the 3 new Switch SKUs that popped up in Best Buy's around the country which were Persona 5, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and A Link to the Past all on the Nintendo Switch. They close out by discussing the next Assassin's Creed game apparently teased in The Division 2 and may be called Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok.
This week was full of announcements and presentations. It was the story of polar opposites as Gearbox Software's PAX East event was a firestorm of technical difficulties that culminated in a lackluster announcement of Borderlands 3, while PlayStation's State of Play nailed format and pacing while seemingly disappointing the PlayStation community with its content. We talk about all that and more on this week's show.
This week Google unveiled their streaming service, Stadia, set to try and make the streaming future a reality. The guys go over the announcement itself, how the launch will go, and what Stadia means for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo looking towards the next generation. Sekiro is seeing great critical reception and the guys drool over their anticipation of FromSoftware's latest project releasing in just a few hours of their recording. This week Jerrad starts the show by going over his time with both Apex Legends and Trials: Rising over the past week. In the news segment the guys discuss Gearbox's teases for PAX East including a possible new IP as well as some other stories regarding the Hyper Light Drifter developers, Halo: MCC coming to PC, and more. They close out the show talking about new information that came out about Halo: Infinite and if it means it will be a games-as-service modeled experience.
This week the guys are joined by former guest Chris Nunes. They open the show talking about their issues with Kingdom Hearts 3 and question Square Enix's development management. EA not holding a press conference at E3 2019 is also a big point of discussion during the show. Lastly they discuss the rumored Xbox One S All-Digital Edition console and what it means for Microsoft's E3 2019 conference and beyond.
This week the boys recorded possibly the longest episode ever. There was a strong discussion regarding Bioware and the perception of the company after the troubled release of Anthem. They also go over the reveal of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. They discuss their initial reactions to the reveal of the Galar region, what they want out of Generation 8, and decide which starter they're initially interested in choosing.
This week we had two major news bombshells fall. Google sent out invites to their keynote set to take place at GDC 2019, and the general consensus is that they're showcasing their entrance into the gaming industry in a major way. Not to be outdone, Reggie Fils-Aime announced that he would be retiring in April of 2019 with Doug Bowser set to take over as Nintendo of America's President. Lastly the panel goes over the NPD numbers for January 2019 and talk about the performances of both Resident Evil 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3.
This week Jerrad and Jordan go over some quickie news as well as Nintendo's Direct for February 2019. Some of the topics in quickie news include the Activision/Blizzard layoffs, Apex Legends continued growth, and PlayStation's worrisome corporate shifts. Nintendo's first Direct for 2019 was full of amazing announcements and the guys discuss how those reveals landed for them. Super Mario Maker 2 and Link's Awakening headline the conversation.
