This week the guys react to Nintendo's latest 40-minute Direct presentation for September 2019. They talk about Pokemon Sword & Shield, Animal Crossing, and the SNES game collection coming to Nintendo's Online Service. Dom also gives his thoughts on Man of Medan, which may have been a complete whiff and didn't hit the mark Until Dawn set in the space by the same developer.
After a week-long hiatus the guys return to talk about the latest news in the video game industry. This week both Jerrad and Jordan give their early impressions of Remedy Entertainment's new highly-anticipated title, Control. Dom also talks at length about his time with Red Dead Redemption 2 as he recently completed the game. In news the guys cover the NPD numbers for July 2019 and Insomniac Games being purchased by Sony.
Jerrad and Dom go over their feelings about Gears of War 4 as Jerrad has recently completed it in anticipation for Gears V. The guys also go over some Xbox related news and the leaked SNES controller for the Nintendo Switch. They close out the show by going through 50 video game questions that can start conversations and strengthen friendships. Jordan hates them.
After talking about his early adventures in Gears of War 4, Jerrad goes over the QB1 mode in Madden NFL 20. Jordan also covers his discovery of some secrets in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. In the news the guys discuss Death Stranding possibly coming to PC, some reveals in the new Pokemon Sword/Shield trailer, and the big 3 cracking down on loot box drop rates.
During a slow news week the guys go over the sales for the lifetime of the Nintendo Switch and see which titles have sold best on the platform. They also discuss the popular streamer Ninja's partnership with Microsoft's streaming platform Mixer. What does his move mean for Twitch and the world of streaming overall? To close the show the guys look at the list of the 10 top-selling survival horror games of all-time.
Jerrad and Jordan sit down this week and discuss a bit of video game industry news including Nintendo upgrading the number of levels each user can upload online in Super Mario Maker 2, as well as Nintendo going the extra mile to help people with the joy-con drift epidemic. They also talk about their experiences with Apex Legends Season 2 and Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled.
Recently Nintendo has announced both a new Nintendo Switch Lite aimed at the handheld only market, and a new Nintendo Switch with the only major change being a longer battery life. The guys chat about both of the new systems, their pros and cons, and what they mean for Nintendo future plans for the hardware. They also take about Netflix's The Cuphead Show and San Diego Comic-Con details on Marvel's Avengers.
In honor of the 150th Controlled Interests podcast the guys catch up on everything they've played post-E3 2019. Towards the end of the show Jerrad has Dom and Jordan face-off in a pop quiz about Controlled Interests to see who knows more about their own creation.
This week Jerrad and Jordan improve an episode as Dom was unable to make it to the 150th episode due to a last minute commitment. They chat about what Jordan would want from a remake of Jak X Combat Racing, which starter they're picking for Pokemon Sword/Shield, and close out discussing which Star Wars cameos they wan't and don't want in the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
With E3 2019 in the books the guys reflect on their favorite reveals, updates, announcements, and moments from the entire week. They also talk about what they felt was missing and close out by talking about their Top 5 Most Anticipated Games for the remainder of 2019.
