In Acts 1:8 Jesus tells the disciples that when the Holy Spirit comes he will give them power to be His witnesses. We live in the new covenant when the Holy Spirit has been poured out! The Holy Spirit empowers us to be a witness. This means to tell people about Jesus and what we have seen, heard, and experienced.

Jesus in John 16:8-11 gives us three specific areas of the Holy Spirit’s Conviction. Those three areas are: conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgement. The role of the Holy Spirit as one who convicts isn’t something we should be afraid of and run from as believers but run towards. Conviction should make us happy. When we feel conviction we should feel happy because it means the Holy Spirit wants to bring us deeper into the light, correct things that may need to be corrected, and help us conquer.
