  • Overcoming Adversity with Paralympic Hall of Fame Monoskier Chris Waddell, Jakub Kubrak and Jules Swisher
Imagine you're in a skiing accident. You fall and break some bones in your back and you can no longer walk. Then imagine, as a paraplegic, you learn how to ski again on a monoski. But not only that. Imagine you go on to win Thirteen Paralympic Medals—the most medals of any male monoskier in Paralympic history. But not only that. You decide to, and are successful in, climbing to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro!

This is only part of the story of our guest on this episode of 🎤Conversations About Conversations🎙. He's a role model for showing how attitude and determination can allow you to adapt to any circumstances.

  • Book Interview, Part 1

On this episode of 🎤Conversations About Conversations 🎙 I was interviewed about my book—Conversations: How to Manage Your Business Relationships One Conversation at a Time—by my friend and colleague David DeCelle.

David quickly realized there was enough to discuss that he suggested a part 2 in the middle of recording part 1. I agreed with him. There's plenty to talk about. I recently recorded my book as an audio book (coming in early 2021!) and it when complete, it was 5.3 hours. I'm biased, but I think a 10-12-part series is probably the ideal number. It's something I'm thinking about for the future.

  • Advice About Advice

For our Thanksgiving episode of 🎤Conversations About Conversations 🎙 we asked our moms (Ruth Farber and Urszula Kubrak) to give us advice.

Here's a summary of the advice we received:

    • Advice is better when it's asked for. You have to get to know people before you give them advice. One size doesn't fit all. Give different advice to different people.
    • The most important thing is having relationships and not just to have them, but to cultivate them and keep them going.
    • Listening requires practice. So does empathy.
    • Smart people learn from their own mistakes. Wise people learn from other people's mistakes.
    • Have a purpose. Be useful to others. Focus on what you have. Be present. Be thankful. Be grateful.
    • Listen to your mom.

  • Two Factor Authentication

I'm currently buying a new house🏡. So, I've been dealing with a realtor, a lender and an insurance agent. The experience has reminded me about the importance of communication, avoiding miscommunication and making sure there isn't any missed communication. The solution is easy. Double up on your communication methods with two factor authentication. It will result in impressed prospects, loyal clients and better relationships.

Our guest on this episode of 🎤Conversations About Conversations 🎙 was David DeCelle. David is a speaker, entrepreneur and coach. He is president of Model FA and is on a mission to serve thousands of advisors all over the world.
