In “Turn to God with Carin,” Carin Jayne Casey shares a portion of her book, MY DEAR ROSA JEAN each month. In this episode, she shares Chapters 4 & 5. Prior book segments can be found on YouTube or www.stormtalk365radio.com: Feb. 26, 2017, March 6th, and April 10th. Casey highlighted portions of Chapter 3.

In Chapter 4, Rosa Jean and her Aunt Grace perform volunteer work for a charity. Aunt Grace says charity work helped her to be thankful for all God gave her, and the best way to keep one cheery was to be doing for others. Aunt Grace was feeling lonely and agreed with Rosa Jean to be more friendly, available as she networked with folks she already knew.

Aunt Grace explained that she encourages Rosa Jean to share past domestic violence - to help her put it away in a healthy way; she noted Rosa Jean’s life is colorful, sometimes tragic, but always interesting.

Wedding was small, with only immediate family and in Lieu of a honeymoon, Brad’s family came to the new house to stay for a week, which was a great experience.

Chapter 5 introduced what is referred to as the Ugly Honeymoon. Casey points out that all of Rosa Jean’s memories are really PTSD flashbacks, and that Rosa Jean experienced mental and emotional pain due to the conflicts in believing she should get away from Brad, yet compelled to stay; and, from holding “bottled” inside her hurt and anger.

Brad yelled, glaring, for her to come to him, about her ‘behavior’ – but she knew his family loved her, he only wanted to cause argument. She remembered another time, he had slapped her. Not eager to repeat that scene, she told him she’d be with him in a minute, and went to take an anti-depressant. He came after her in a rage, assaulted her, and tried to kill Rosa Jean [Read Pg. 75-77]

But God! God gave her the words to confuse the enemy. What the enemy means for our harm, God can use for good.

Casey encouraged listeners to turn to God, to decide to accept Jesus Christ as their savior. The numbers for The National Domestic Violence Hotline was given. Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

The lyrics to the song sound good (and look good). In reality, they are rarely truly lived out. Now many believe that they are loving someone (or that someone is loving them). But true love as expressed by GOD to us (John 3:16) is not based on conditions. Based on the above scriptures each of you Neighbors that come to share with us on #ThePorch (be it your first time or yet another time) have accomplished the instruction to live by The SPIRIT of GOD. You have mastered the putting someone else's needs before yours on a consistent basis. I must admit for most of the rest of us, we still are working on both being led consistently and continuously being led by the SPIRIT and loving others regardless of love being returned or not. Maybe you are asking the age-old question of the secular song made well known by Tina Turner, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" Worldly love, nothing; GODly love, everything. So, do you find yourself asking 'Do I know how to love?'

Freedom is one of those words that we have heard about our entire life but that we rarely actually see someone truly living in the Freedom of CHRIST. A group of us Sisters in CHRIST were speaking about not judging others. One of the Sisters said that she agreed with not judging. She next indicated that we can be fruit inspectors. Even in being fruit inspector are we called to discard the fruit or to in a sense prune it and nurture it back to health? Per the BIBLE freedom in CHRIST does not give us the right to operate in evil according to the flesh. We should pray and be in agreement that we each learn individually and collectively how to walk in GOD's commandment to love HIM 1st and our Neighbors like ourselves next.

This week's #Neighbor2Neighbor Guest Pastor Angela Williams graces us Neighbors with her presence on #ThePorch. She is not shy in sharing what the reason is that most of us are not walking in love. PastorAngie as she is known deals with topics that many People of GOD would choose to shy away from. Here too she is sharing truths that somebody you know (a Neighbor) has a real need to figure out how to live free; how to love (even the unlovable) and to walk in SPIRIT (and thereby in Truth). So understandably not for you but you have to know someone who is tired of living in bondage; someone who is tired of faking it because they have little to no faith.
