Caution:  When we feel overwhelmed we tend to exaggerate every little thing, making everything ball up into one big problem. Last week when life was sailing on smooth waters these little things were barely noticeable. We drop our apartment keys or broke our favorite coffee mug, we sigh and move on, maybe even using this as a reason to treat ourselves to a new mug. 

But when we are stressed we start tallying up the list and we burst when we reach our “last straw”.  Which looks something like a mild freak out leading up to an explosive, “REALLY!  MY FAVORITE COFFEE MUG?!” We’ve all been there and at this point, a lot of us are there right now. This is a very important time to keep our perspective.

This month we have spoken about love and its healing properties. But what about when love hurts - mentally and physically? Unrequited love is very painful.

In today’s episode, we're talking about trust. You might ask, “Trust in who? Trust in what?” Basically, what I’m referring to are times when we get into making big decisions in our lives, where do we go? How do we make those decisions? How do we know if we are making the “right” decisions? 

As you can guess I am personally in the middle of a transition which means we are making some big decisions. You’ve heard me mention we are moving to Colorado. Ironically, when I used to meet people who had moved here to Missouri with no job, no place to live, no plan and they were figuring all that out after they arrived here…I used to think those people were crazy.

Well, now I’m one of the crazy ones. Enjoy this episode and I hope a piece of what you find is the catalyst for you to allow transformation in your life.

Pamela Hernandez, is the Medical Fitness Director for Sharlin Health and Neurology in Ozark, Missouri. She is responsible for overseeing the neuro fitness program at the clinic as well as working individually with clients where she teaches them how to use movement as medicine.  

She began our conversation by asking, “What’s one of your intentions for 2021?” I explained that one of my intentions for the year is to be comfortable using technology and all of its advantages. I really liked how she got right into it and got us going!

Movement as medicine ties into the heart of functional medicine where they strive to understand the root cause of a condition and then determine what modifiable lifestyle factors are there to work with.

Oftentimes to live out our dreams we must take an incredible journey through fear.  Our most inspirational and motivational stories are based on this premise.  We read about these characters. We cheer them on in movies. We live out our dreams vicariously through their stories. We work out our personal lives through these movies and books. It doesn't matter if it’s fictional or real life. We imagine ourselves as the hero of that story.  

The paradox is, we all want to feel the elation of a miracle but we don’t want to be in the situation where we need to experience the miracle. We don’t want to go through a problem and get to a place where the only thing that can save us is a miracle.

We can all certainly remark about what happened in our lives during 2020. How would you rate this year? Would you give it a few good marks? Or would you give it all bad reviews? 

This minisode came about after listening to a few friends who wanted to share their good news from 2020, but they were reluctant  about other people who might frown upon their positive news because they had a much more negative experience and would  not be happy for them. Unfortunately, some people will try to make others feel guilty about any good fortune.

However, I’m glad my friends trusted me and knew me well enough to know that I would be happy for them.
