"Opioid-Free Anesthesia" - Thomas Baribeault

Thomas Baribeault is a clinical coordinator and chief obstetric CRNA for Commonwealth Anesthesia in Lexington, KY. He specializes in obstetric anesthesia, acute surgical pain management, non-surgical pain management, and point-of-care ultrasound. He founded the Society for Opioid-Free Anesthesia (SOFA) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to education and research on opioid-free anesthesia and post-operative pain management. He received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Ohio State University, a master’s of science in nursing and anesthesia residency from Case Western Reserve University, and a doctorate in nursing practice and pain management fellowship from the University of South Florida.

"Finding Your First Job As a CRNA School Grad" - Dr. Joseph Rodriguez

Joseph A. Rodriguez, DNAP, CRNA, has been in practice for 10 years while currently focusing on business and operations for Guide Healthcare.

Dr. Rodriguez is the former president of the Arizona Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and has served on the board of directors for the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology.  He has led several reforms at the state and federal levels.  He maintains a faculty position at National University and has written for The Washington Times, Anesthesiology News, The Arizona Capitol Times, and Outpatient Surgery.  He speaks nationally on business and leadership.

"Beyond the Head of the Bed" - Jennifer Banek

Jennifer Banek is a CRNA who resides in Libertyville, IL. Ms. Banek has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and prior to becoming a CRNA, she worked in drug research for Abbott Laboratories. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing from DePaul University and earned her anesthesia certification from the NorthShore School of Nurse Anesthesia, Chicago, in 2012. Jennifer is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Wisconsin and has practiced in a variety of clinical settings in both states. In 2020, she was elected to serve 700K Lake County Illinois residents as the coroner. She has served in professional leadership roles in both state and national capacities. Currently, she is on the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology's Board of Directors. Ms. Banek has served in the United States Army Reserves for approximately 14 years. She is currently the Commander for the 1MCTD, which trains at Ft. Sill, OK. Jennifer's partner is also a CRNA and a service member. Together, they have four grown children.

"SRNA Mental Health & Wellness" - Dr. Catherine Horvath, DNP, CRNA

Catherine Horvath, DNP, CRNA is the Assistant Program Director of the DNAP Program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  She has been a CRNA for 31 years and an educator for 15 years.  Dr. Horvath is the Chair of the AANA Health & Wellness Committee, supporting the well-being of CRNAs and SRNAs.  She likes to run, do pilates, and cook in her spare time.
