Top of the morning to ya, Substackers! I sit here before you, a wounded Dove longing to spread his wings and fly, but alas, tis not to be!

For real, though, I am still having major issues with the leg, so I have to figure out how to work from behind a desk! Today’s rant starts with me showing a little footage of the injury AND my first-ever Stone Cold Stunner! After that, I got some things off my chest that have been bugging me this week whilst laying on my couch writhing in pain…. mainly the comments section on food videos 😂

I had to cut myself off because, naturally, I forgot we had to record The WellRED Podcast today. But I'll be back with part 2 soon because I have LOTS of opinions!

Hey y’all! For those not active in the Substack Chat, I am still sequestered on my couch suffering from a MASSIVE hematoma on my left leg.

Before anyone says ANYTHING, yes, I’m aware that I am too old to wrestle. It has been noted, and I assure you, no one thinks I’m a bigger idiot than myself (ok, maybe my mom and my wife! [two separate people])

Anywho the pain in my leg is actually the least of my concerns, it’s the damn immobility of the situation! As yall have become well aware, the park is not only my sanctuary, it is also MY OFFICE! It’s where I get 90% of my work done and yall, without it, I am MISERABLE!

Two good things have come of this though: 1.) it’s forced me to sit down and WRITE.. something I’ve been blocked from for quite a while (working on some new stuff right now!) and 2.) my stir craziness prompted me to work on a silly Michael Caine impression that I hope you all enjoy 🤣

Hey y’all! Pastor Petey is out running errands right now so im’m told today’s sermon will be a “night service”!

Between now and then, though, I thought I’d throw something your way on this beautiful Sunday that many people have been asking for… my “special” Live At The Bijou!!

I put “Special” in quotations because unless my memory is wrong, we had shot these sets as sort of a “proof of concept” to shop around to Netflix and the like… well as you can imagine, that didn’t pan out lol.

I sat on the recording for a while not ever planning to do anything with it (except work on the jokes to make them better") and then this strange thing came along.. you may remember it, it was called THE PANDEMIC!

The first few weeks of that fiasco were actually kind of nice (please understand, this is when we were still ignorant of how bad it was) because we’d been on the road a while, and I was enjoying the break. But then, as y’all know… s**t got real

I would be lying to y’all if I said there weren't times when I was scared about what I would do for money. At the time I thought stand up was the only skill i had, and we were living through a time where I couldn’t do the only thing I was good at. Certainly, the only thing anyone would give me money for, at least.

Then, as many of you know, along came the Buttercream Dream and, with him, a whole handful of new followers! For some reason, during all of that, I remembered this low-budget set we had filmed at the Bijou in Knoxville, TN, and in a moment of panic, I uploaded it and offered digital sales to fans through Pay Pal and Venmo.

The response blew me away. I don’t know if i’ve ever told people this, but the people who bought this when i first put it out… some of you here on this substack… you are the reason I was able to pay my bills for a large chunk of the pandemic when all of my shows got canceled. You are the reason I didn’t go insane. You might be the reason my wife didn’t hit me in the head with a frying pan 😂

Anyways, I’m not going to go back and watch this because I can’t watch my old stuff. This was 6 years ago, and even though I know I was good then, i’m so much better now that I would die from cringing, lol

But I sure hope YOU enjoy it!

Today we have some announcements regarding Deacon Rickey’s Probation and the status of our Middle School Girl’s softball team and the allegations lobbed against them from those sorry baptists down the street!

Before the sermon, Pastor Petey lead the congregation in a prayer for our nation as we head further into an election year!

Pastor Petey’s message today is sort of a 2 parter: a message to those who feel overwhelmed, and also a twist on “the golden rule”
