The crowds are astonished at Jesus' teaching. The disciples are in fear of what is to come in Jerusalem. Are we astonished or in fear? Do we know what Jesus has done for us? The depth of God's mercy to us in Jesus is taken for granted. When we understand the grace shown to us by God, it affects how we show love toward others.

Mankind has always had a tendency to settle, to believe that the way things currently are is the best it’s ever going to get. And so, we grow comfortable and complacent and because of this, we often don’t realize that there is more. That there might be a better way to live. In John’s Gospel today, we get to hear Jesus teach that God wants more than just, “doing okay” for you.

John 2:13-22

It is always astonishing to reflect on who Jesus truly is. Unfortunately, we live in a world in which this gets muddled. Amid the apathy of the world to speak the truth about the person of Jesus Christ and His action for this world, we strive to hold firm the confession of Jesus Christ.

Mark 1:9-12

For the final week of our care series, we recognize that to care, we need to do. Caring for others calls us to see others, to listen to them, and then to love them in the way that they need to be loved. That means doing truly impactful things, not just what we want to do. God sets the ultimate example of this which emboldens our care for others.

As we gather today, we are called to be people that show Care. The good news is that we are first those who receive Care from our God. God sees us and speaks life into us by his word. We can see others and speak to them of Jesus, the giver of life.

Seeing a woman who was distressed, anguished, and grieving, Jesus had compassion. In all of the brokenness, he saw a woman whom he valued and He cared for. When Jesus looks at you and me, the same is true. He looks at us, at all people, and sees people whom he values and cares for.

Mark 6:30-34

As we serve God by serving others, we are called into service together! It is a wonderful blessing to be able to work alongside other brothers and sisters here at Cornerstone to accomplish God’s mission. We have an opportunity for a [RE]Vision, to get focused on God’s work for us to accomplish together.
