Living in a largely materialistic world, we live in this almost unknown or accepted state of greed. We are constantly pursuing the latest possession to obtain our happiness from it, causing us to constantly desire what other people have and hoard our possessions, fearing that we may lose our happiness from it. Greed takes our eyes away from the amazing gifts that God has already given to us and causes us to desire what He has given to others. God calls for us to find true joy in the amazing gifts He has given us, and to live in a state of joyful gratitude, freely giving and finding true joy in Him.

In our new series, “3 Sins You Didn’t Know You Were Committing,” we’ll look at some of the sinful things in our lives that we tend to gloss over or excuse in ourselves. Pridefulness is argued to be the chief of all sins. It sneaks its way into our lives as we compare ourselves with people around us, allowing us to dismiss our “lesser sins” because they “aren’t as bad as their sins”. In the midst of our pride, God comes in humility, sacrificing Himself and putting our salvation before His own place of glory.

Jesus had fulfilled so many expectations while He was alive. He was healing, teaching, and loving. Then He was crucified. That seemed to call everything else into question. The women came for the final bit of closure, to finish the burial. Instead, they found more fulfillment than they could ever have imagined. All that He did and taught was true because Jesus is alive!

On Good Friday we remember the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus’ took on the full weight of the world’s sin as he hung on the cross and breathed his last. He could have saved himself from such punishment, but he chose to endure such agony so that we would be saved from sin, death, and the devil.

Not everyone needs glory in the same way. Some are on a life-long quest for fame and praise. Others fill the role of giving fame and praise. Everyone needs to be a part of something greater than themselves. As Jesus enters Jerusalem, we see humanity on display, in all its glory. Jesus’ entrance teaches us what we really need to know about glory – that we need it even if we misunderstand it.

It can be challenging for us to trust in God in all circumstances, especially with so many things in our lives that appear to be uncertain. Yet, Jesus has proven, through His death and resurrection, that we can be certain that our salvation is secure in Him.
