  • Whom Shall We Fear, Serve, and Love?

We have begun our Scriptural journey in the study of Fear as a strong and powerful motivator.  As was introduced last week, fear of man, suffering, death, and any other fear you may face in this life can drive you away from loving and serving the LORD.  We must learn how to courageously move forward in faithfulness in the face of these fears.  We must learn to fear the LORD.  We must learn the many facets of the fear of the LORD and the rich and wonderful blessings that are granted to those who fear the LORD only.  This morning we begin in earnest by facing the realities of being a true disciple of Jesus Christ.  Using the word of Christ found in Matthew 10:24-39, we will examine five unalterable realities that Christians must face and chose how they will respond to them.  In order to respond correctly, we need to answer three important questions.  Who and what are we to fear?  Who and what are we to serve? Who and what we are to love?  In searching the bible in the next twelve months we will find the definitive answer to each of these questions and be mentally and spiritually equipped for the challenges to come.

  • The Deadly Sin That Destroys Trust

Welcome to a new year with limitless possibilities to love and serve the Lord Jesus!  It is very exciting when you know and are convinced that the LORD reigns over all that is seen and unseen.  He is the one and only true Sovereign and we are His beloved subjects!  There is much peace, joy, and happiness when we live according to this understanding, this truth!  We must never forget though, the devil wants to destroy this peace, joy, and happiness through fear of man, suffering, and death.  If our convictions are true to God’s word, there is but one to fear, He is the LORD!

The fear of God for the man and woman of faith, is a deep and abiding reverence, awe, and adoration of the one who has created all things and all peoples.  The fear of the LORD is actually a love for Him and His word.  The Fear of the LORD also includes a deep seated hatred for all that is evil and perverse.  It must also be told, Fear of the LORD includes the dread and terror of His wrath and judgment for those who do not know God or obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

This morning we begin the New Year by reviewing our theme from last year and then introducing our them for this year.   We will look at a comparison of those who trust in the Lord and those who do not.  We will also quickly review the four pillars of building trust.  We will begin by giving a quick scripture reference to the major topics for our theme this year, “The 6th Law of Momentum- The Power of Fear!”  This year we will examine the several “Fear Not” topics such as fear of man, fear of suffering, and fear of death and the contrasting courage we are called to possesses to overcome these fears.  More importantly we will discover that the fear of the LORD is multi-faceted in nature.  To fear God is to love, revere, adore, and obey our Creator and His word, ever knowing that only those who remain faithful will enter into His glory on the last day!

  • In the One and Only Father We Trust!

There is one God and Father who is over all, through all, and in all!  This morning we will listen to our God speak through His servant Isaiah share with us His great name and character all of which has been and continues to be manifest in Christ Jesus!  There is but one God and Father and He is manifest to us through Jesus Christ!  His words, His works, and His will, have been clearly manifest to us through Jesus Christ our Lord!  As the great apostle Paul has penned through inspiration, God is our Father and He is over all, through all, and in all.  We shall see how the apostle Paul and the prophet Isaiah agree that in Christ the Father is manifest over, through, and in Christ’s body, the Church!  In closing we will once again see how this amazing, God given relationship units us as one with the Father, with the Son, and with each other!

  • Unity in One Faith and Baptism Builds Trust

As we come near to the close of the 2022 we also come near to the end of our series on how to build trust within the body of Christ.  Trust relationships with the brethren is becoming more and more critical as we watch our culture quickly falling into total darkness and depravity!  We must be united in the faith and Spirit of Christ!  Jesus as a man was able to live a life of perfect integrity because of the indwelling Spirit of God and absolute faith in His Father and His word.  People from every walk and station of life trusted Jesus because He walked by faith in the Spirit!

Brethren, we must do the same.  The title of this morning’s sermon is “Unity in One Faith and Baptism Builds Trust!”  This sermon is a pointed review of what many of us already know.  There is only one faith and one baptism that is recognized by the Creator of all things both visible and invisible!  Any other faith or baptism leads to distrust, discord, and ultimate destruction of the individual and the fellowship of the local congregation.  Brethren we must believe and embrace the Scriptures as Christ did, possess the faith of Christ, and be immersed in His name for the biblical reasons as clearly spoken in the bible.  God knows each and every heart.  Many profess the supposed one true faith and baptism but the LORD judges according to the standard of His Word and not the many denominational creed books, confessions, and man-made philosophies!  Please join us with an open mind and heart with a willingness to yield to the truth of God’s word.  In so doing you will grow in Christ- like integrity and build the much needed trust within the body of Christ.

  • Trust is Built if We All Serve One Lord Part 2

As we began to look at last week and I am sure you agree, building trust in our lives as Christians grows ever more crucial as the days grow darker.  Each member of the body must work to prove themselves trustworthy if the church is to grow and be effective in the ever increasing hostility towards Christians and Christ’s church.  We must remember there is only one Lord and each of us must work to fully surrender to His will to become absolutely trustworthy and trusted.  As each member grows in Christ-likeness so grows the trust among the members of the body of Christ!

This morning we will finish the lesson titled, “Trust is Built If We All Serve One Lord!” This statement seems self evident but only if we understand what it means that Jesus is Lord and each one of us is personally responsible and accountable to Him.  In the context of the lesson this morning we will review two of the three questions in the sermon and finish up by answering the last question.  What does it mean Jesus is Lord of our life?,  How do we know Jesus is Lord of our Life?, and How is trust built when we all obey the Lord Jesus?

  • Our One Common Hope Can Build Trust Part 2

This morning we will finish our lesson titled, “Our One Common Hope Can Build Trust!”  We will quickly redefine our hope as Christians and also the five important truths of our hope in Christ.  We will focus on how our hope in Christ calls us to fully trust and put our full confidence in Him and His word.  The trust so vital to growth as His family, His one body, comes from our walking in Him and like Him through the power of His presence.  As we walk in His life of perfect integrity, both sinner and saint come to trust us. In this trust we become the pillars and support of the truth drawing all people to Christ Jesus!

  • Our One Common Hope Can Build Trust!

It is so wonderful to be living in the “One Hope” of God’s calling through the gospel of Jesus Christ!  Indeed, this world and all it offers, does not offer us Hope that is sure, steadfast, and sealed in heaven!  In this world a person has neither peace or hope with out Jesus Christ in their life.  Praise the LORD that we have been given both!  It is also wonderful to know that we can have great trust in one another as we grow in our faith because of our hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

This morning we will describe the hope of His calling as referenced in Ephesians 4:4.  We will also ask and answer the question, “What is the one hope of all true Christians?”  Finally, we will examine how our one common hope in Christ builds trust for one another!

  • The Power of Emotion to Build Trust in…the Body of Christ Part 2

The Church of Jesus Christ is the one and only Body of Christ!  There are not several different bodies of Christ!  Being a fellowship or congregation of the one body of Christ, we must recognize ourselves as the one family of God.  As we look closely at physical families they are filled with both good and bad emotions, produces by good and bad decisions and actions on the part of each individual member.  So too, we find this in the body of Christ, His family.  As Christians we are called to make decisions and live lives that produce good emotions that will help each member trust one another and to help them excel in their service for the building of the body of Christ in love. This morning’s lesson will be taken from Philippians chapter one and two.  First, we will study Paul’s emotions towards the brethren in the congregation of the saints in the city of Philippi.  Next we will discover what produced these strong feelings of love and affection of Paul for the brethren in Philippi.  Finally, we will listen to and prayerfully answer the call and commendation from Paul to abound and excel still more and more in building trust in each other through love and mutual sacrifice for one another!
