How important it is to know and feel you are a vital part of a family or organization. How important is it for you to be a trusted, vital part of the body of Christ which is the church of the living God? This morning’s lesson focuses on the truth that each one of us who is a Christian is a vital part of the body of Christ which is His church! As a member of God’s family it is important to participate in this body as a trusted member who is working hard to fulfill your calling in Christ Jesus. This morning we will be reminded that the church, as it is described in the Scriptures, is the one and only body of Christ! We will also discover that the leadership in each of the local fellowships of the body of Christ are to work to build each member of the body up so they may, each one, manifest the fullness of Christ’s character. Finally, we will speak of the importance of each member making the commitment to grow up into Christ, fulfilling their calling, using their gifts, talents and abilities to build up the body of Christ in love! In so doing the trust in and between members of the church will grow every stronger to withstand the challenges ahead of us.

Today we will continue to search the Scriptures to seeks the Lord’s will in how to build trust within the body of Christ. This morning we will briefly review what it means to be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit and then we will work on understanding what the bond of peace is. Once we have accomplished these two tasks we will endeavor to learn how important our fellowship with the LORD is as it relates to our fellowship with one another and how walking in the Light as He Himself is in the Light allows for this sweet fellowship, abiding relationships, and trust in one another.

We continue to learn how to build trust as members of the body of Christ. We bear His name. He has given us His Spirit within. He calls us to walk in the Spirit together in unity, so that, the world will see and know that we are His disciples by our love for one another. He blesses those who walk in a manner worthy of the calling in which we have been called and chosen in Him. Trust is the core of any relationship. As we walk in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forbearance, forgiveness, and love for one another as Christ manifests towards us trust and confidence in each other will grow and we will stand together unshaken. This morning we will answers many questions, such as, what does it meant for Christians to be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit and what does this look like in daily practice?

In an effort to build trust and unity in the hearts of the brethren in the Kingdom of Christ we are called to show tolerance to one another in love. Loving tolerance is a powerful spiritual tool to keep Christ’s people together and moving on to maturity. With the love of Christ for the brethren, we are to manifest the tolerance of Christ for those people and circumstances that would inflame and infuriate the man or woman in the flesh. Brethren, through the Spirit of Christ we are able to not only put up with people and circumstances in the body that are challenging and difficult but we are able to extend mercy and forgiveness and maintain our cool and controlled temper as our Christ does for us. This morning we will first define the tolerance of our Lord in us and His love that motivates and empowers us to show the tolerance and forbearance that builds trust and union in the Lord’s Church! Next, we will examine the tolerance demonstrated by our LORD and it also being manifest in the mature Christian man or women. Finally, we will look at what must not be tolerated in the the church of our King!

We continue our quest this morning to understand more fully what it means to walk in a manner worthy of the calling of our Christ and King! This morning we will look more deeply into what it means to “walk in all patience.” The title of the sermon this morning is “Chosen and Called to Walk in All Patience!” Patience is an important character quality in serving the LORD in fulfilling His desire to see that all people come to a saving knowledge of the truth. Jesus continues to manifest the LORD’s patience as our High Priest just as He always has throughout the ages. Patience is a powerful weapon in the LORD’s arsenal of might spiritual weapons in winning people to Himself and to destroying the death hold the devil has on people. We will look as the amazing patience of our Christ in His long suffering in bringing people to Himself and then we will look at how we are empowered and called to do the same.

This morning we are moving on in our quest for answering the question, how do we walk in a manner worth of the calling with which we have been called in Christ Jesus? The first facet of this worthy walk is to possess and manifest all humility. Humility is serving others through the willful decision to put the interests and needs of others before your own. Jesus is the “Gold Standard” for humility in that He, “emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond servant…He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
This morning we build on humility by learning of what it means to also walk in all gentleness. Gentleness describes the inner condition of the mind and heart. It is a meekness before God and His will. The humble, gentle or meek heart before God and others will surrender their will to the will of God, the one who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light! First, we will clearly define the word gentle as an inner disposition that influences and directs our service to the LORD and others. Second, we will examine a few Scriptures that speaks of Christ’s gentleness/meekness and the gentleness of those of us who are called. Finally, we will use the Scripture to illustrate the greatness of Christ’s gentleness and meekness in His enduring the persecution and torture at the hands of evil men.

This morning we continue to consider what it means to walk in a manner worthy of our calling in Christ Jesus. The answer is found in Ephesians 4:2, we are to walk in the humility of Christ Jesus! We will accomplish this by first reading Philippians 2:3-11 and respond to the description of Christ’s humility and sacrifice for our souls. We will then ask and answer the questions, “Do We Possess the Mind of Christ?” and “Do We Live Christ’s Life of Humble Service?” This is a time of self reflection. It is a time to be honest with ourselves as we look into the mirror of the New Testament and see the humility of Christ and examine our own lives to see if our life, mirror image resembles that of Christ Jesus. If so, wonderful! Keep living the glorious life of our Christ. If not, search the Scriptures to see, understand, prioritize, and apply this great character quality of Christ’s life. Remember, as we walk and live our lives as Christ did for us then we will become the men and women of integrity that can be trusted regardless of the great challenges and difficulties we will face in the future.
