Trey Wertz hit a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer to cap a 17-2 closing run and No. 11 seed Norte Dame rallied past 14th-seeded Wake Forest 80-77 in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. Tied at 77, Wake Forest’s Daivien Williamson drove the lane but his floater was blocked by Cormac Ryan, who dribbled the other way to find a trailing Wertz for a winning 3. Wertz finished with 16 points, and Juwan Durham had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Notre Dame (11-14), Williamson scored 21 points to lead Wake Forest (6-16). The Fighting Irish move on to face sixth-seeded North Carolina.

Blake Coleman scored 2:17 into overtime, giving the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Coleman’s goal was set up by Tyler Johnson, who also scored, on a 2-on-1 rush to extend the defending Stanley Cup champions season-high point streak to nine games. Detroit’s Dylan Larkin had a tiebreaking goal midway through the second period and Erik Cernak pulled Tampa Bay into a 3-all tie in the third. Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 20 shots for the Central Division-leading Lightning. Thomas Greiss made 25 saves for the last-place Red Wings.
Stars 6, Blackhawks 1 – Stars score early and often to dominate Blackhawks 6-1
Joel Kiviranta scored 100 seconds in and added an assist, rookie Jason Robertson had four assists for his first four-point game and the Dallas Stars dominated the Chicago Blackhawks in a 6-1 victory. Joe Pavelski got his team-high 13th goal for the Stars. Roope Hintz and defensemen Jamie Oleksiak, John Klingberg and Esa Lindell also scored. Dallas has won two of its last three games after losing four straight. Mattias Janmark scored against his former team for Chicago, which has allowed 12 goals over two consecutive losses. Blackhawks star Patrick Kane played in his 1,000th NHL game.
NHL – AP sources: NHL reaches 7-year agreement with ESPN
The National Hockey League will return to ESPN beginning next season. People familiar with the deal say the two sides have reached agreement on a seven-year contract that will include four Stanley Cup finals. They spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract has not been finalized. ESPN and the NHL had no comment. ESPN last had NHL rights in 2004. Since then, NBC has been the league's national broadcast partner. The league will air on multiple networks in its next agreement and NBC is still among the bidders for the other part of the deal.
