Philippians 1:12-20 – Right Teaching, Right Motivation

Focus Verse: Philippians 1:20 - My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honored in my body, whether by life or by death.

When Christ is our prize and our treasure – He is our motivation for how we live and share the Gospel.

Matthew 5:6, Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Philippians 1:1-11 – The Philippian Challenge

Focus Verses:

Philippians 1:6 - I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Philippians 1:9-11 - And I pray this: that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.

What is the Philippian Challenge?

Be who God has called you to be:

Challenge #1: Commit to Partner in the Gospel (Phil 1:5)

-Not as a passive bystander of Gospel work, but as an active co-worker in the Gospel.

Challenge #2: Walk with Confidence as the Lord Works (Phil 1:6)

-The Lord is the initiator, sustainer and finisher of His work.

Challenge #3: Grow in your Love of God and others (Phil 1:9a) by:

-By seeking knowledge and discernment; (Phil 1:9b)

-That builds godly character; (Phil 1:10)

-And results in fruitful living. (Phil 1:11)

Matthew 5:5, Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Putting This Message Into Practice This Week:

-If Someone Fails Me, I Won’t Be Hypercritical Or Judgmental

(Galatians 6:1; Ephesians. 4:32)

-If Someone Opposes Or Argues With Me, I Will Be Kindhearted And Calm

(Romans 14:1-4)

-If Someone Is Serving Me, I Won’t Be Difficult Or Demanding

(Philippians 2:1-4)

Psalm 150 – The Beginning of a Life of Praise

Focus Verse: Psalm 150:6 - “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.”‬‬

If we take up the message of Psalm 1, we end with the praise of Psalm 150. We praise Him in the sanctuary and everywhere else; We praise Him in His working and His attributes; We praise with anything and everything we can!

Are you living as one who is blessed and fulfilled by God? We must commit to a life of praise!

Ps 145 - The Character and Promises of God

Focus verse: Ps 145:8

Our God is the King of Life, who is patient and full of grace. This King promises to hear all who cry out to Him by drawing near to them, saving them, fulfilling their desires and guarding them.

- What is the appropriate response of those who have cried out to God?

Psalm 143 – Praying in the Haze of Opposition

Focus Verses: Psalm 143:5-6

God is constantly concerned for our holiness. The enemy is constantly looking to take us out. May we identify the enemy correctly; May we remember, meditate and reflect on the Lord’s work and that He is on our team; and May we pray honestly and humbly that the Lord would use us “for the sake of His name.”
